My husband and I stayed from Dec. 27th- Jan 2nd. There was a New Year's Eve party that was very nice. They had a separate menu and served each course of the meal. There was a brief show and music. There is a free shuttle that goes to Playa del Carmen at 10:30 and then you return around 5:00. The view was beautiful and we enjoyed the different foods and drinks. The air conditioning worked well, it was just a bit damp due to the natural climate. I did yoga on my deck and would go in the plunge pool to cool off. The hot tubs aren't working though and won't maintain a temperature higher than 93. The staff was exceptional and made our stay very nice. Alberto and Selene were always helpful at the front desk. Our room looked great every day and Fabulita did a very nice job. Caesar, Sarah, David, Fabiana and Cristian served most of our meals. They were very attentive. Caesar was very kind and made sure everything was perfect. Overall, we had a beautiful experience and enjoyed our stay very much!

Large rooms with walk in shower, large soaking-jet tub, double vanity, walk-in closet, living area and King bed. Right on the ocean with a great pool. Breakfast was very good with great service by Sarah. We did not choose the all inclusive package knowing we would be touring most of the time during our stay. I would think options would get a little tired if on the all-inclusive package. Overall very good service from everyone. AC was problematic. Too cold one night and too warm another night. If on a 2nd or 3rd floor room you could sleep with the patio doors open and enjoy the ocean breeze.

We stayed at the Senses Rivera Maya all inclusive for our honeymoon right after Christmas in 2019. The staff there goes above and beyond, specifically Bryan, Sarah, Andrea & Cesear. Our drinks were never empty, the food was amazing and the view is like nothing else I've ever experienced. The resort is very small and very safe. The rooms all face the infinity pool and ocean, it is impossible to describe how beautiful it was. The maid service was impeccable and we truly felt spoiled during our visit. My only recommendation is to bring small bills and a metal straw (they are very environmentally friendly there and I appreciate that!) Thank you Senses Rivera Maya for the amazing memories! We cant wait to come back! -Jennifer & Ryan

I love that the management responded to my last review and said they were adding more beach umbrellas and we came back six months later and that did what they said they would! Bravo. We stayed in May and really liked it but our two disappointments were not enough umbrellas for shade and a buffet for breakfast when we thought it was an ala carte from the reviews we had read. To our delight, both issues resolved on this December trip. Breakfast is once again off a menu and NOT buffet which is what I expect from a boutique hotel like this! LOVE IT! Thank you! I'll include pictures of the breakfast menu. The pool now has 6 (I think) umbrellas, plenty for everyone! I didn't see any on the rooftop by the jacuzzi's but the one day we enjoyed the hot tubs it was raining lightly and we weren't really concerned about the sun. So with that said, here's our thoughts from this trip. I like detailed reviews (they help me and I assume others might want to know details too!) We wanted a place to just relax after a busy/stressful fall schedule so were not planning on touring or doing a lot. This place is perfect for that and that is why we chose it. We will likely continue to choose here for a few days of decompression before a longer vacation and/or when we can only get away for 4-6 days and really just need down time. If you want entertainment, late nights, parties etc... this is not for you. To start, the rooms are incredible. We got the exact room we had last time, 2nd floor, loved it. Shower is amazing, hot water, good pressure only thing we'd change is more hooks for wet suits, towels etc. and maybe another trash (there is only one in the bathroom (but really no big deal.) Yes, we did notice a "rust" maybe stain on the curtain and in one spot on the floor and the caulk around the phone in the bathroom could use attention, but honestly these issues are not a huge deal to us. It was flawlessly clean (I even checked the tops of the artwork like they do in those hotel shows....no dust!) and the balcony is private (if you're on the 2nd or 3rd floor) which we LOVE! The view is amazing and would be a major upgrade to get at most other hotels! The food is crazy good! We didn't have anything bad and loved almost everything. I had one day where the green sauce was too spicy, but I had it with breakfast and the green enchiladas at lunch they day before and it was the best green sauce I ever tasted! So except for that one "too" spicy sauce the rest was spot on. The Italian night was incredible, possibly our favorite though it was hard to chose. We had caprese with a perfect balsamic reduction, chicken parm which my husband thought was the best he ever had and the eggplant appetizer was phenomenal! I won't go into detail on every meal but Wednesday-Saturday I believe the restaurant by the pool has a different menu. We did the Mexican, Spanish and Italian. The rooftop restaurant has the same menu each night (I think) which is very good and an option too. Lunch can be poolside, or in the poolside restaurant which serves things like burgers, quesadillas, chick wings etc. We found the food good and often enjoyed it poolside. If you want a longer lunch you can enjoy that upstairs. The fajitas, enchiladas and octopus appetizer are some of our favorites from their lunch menu. We were thrilled to try their off the menu breakfast which is maybe the most varied menu they have, we enjoyed the eggs benedict, burritos, monte cristos, and more.... Decent Cappuccinos, though I still have to say their coffee is not my thing. (See my last review). This time I brought cappuccino from home to make with hot water in the room. Most of the time we had Cesear upstairs and he did a fabulous job. For dinner downstairs Nilo was an excellent server. Really all the staff is amazing and they will go above and beyond to get you what you want. We reconnected with Sarah who had been our favorite last time, she is so sweet. We didn't get a chance to have her serve us this trip, maybe next time! Both Nilo and Sarah remembered us from last time which is nice. The pool and drinks by the pool are amazing. I again swam laps in the morning, we never had an issue finding spots (no towel game here!). We were always up early but even those coming at noon or one had no issue. This trip the pool felt cooler than the ocean, but it was refreshing! Fabiana and Cristian did a great job bringing drinks and food poolside. They were very attentive. This time we were able to enjoy the beach. We swam in it and took walks everyday! It's very easy to access and at low tide you can easily walk in front of the pool to the right. If it's high tide, it's still accessible but you might get your feet wet! Great walk-able beach in both directions. We swam on the north and south side of the resort. We enjoyed no seaweed and clear blue waters this trip (in May the whole area was dealing with lots of seaweed). What else to say? It's a great small boutique hotel. You will be spoiled. The last time (in May) we stayed here first and then went on to Ocean Maya for another 5 days. Our first day we went through withdrawal from here. Here you won't find lines or waits for drinks, dinner, etc... You won't have to play the towel game or be surrounded by people (especially extremely inebriated/unruly ones.) You won't have to try and get one of only a few ocean view rooms, they all have it! Really, there are so many pluses. It has become or go to for a peaceful vacation. We'll be back!

We enjoyed our stay at Senses Riviera Maya. I would recommend this property as a quick get away at a great price. We stayed 6 nights and our goal was relaxation. This property is no frills meaning there's little to no entertainment on the property...which suited us perfectly. The staff is great (Sarah, Bryan, Nathael, Ceasar, David were AMAZING!) and fun and treated us very well. And the food was really good...much better than I was anticipating. The one thing I would recommend is adding a daily chicken option on the nightly menu (beef and seafood were standard). The property itself looked like it seen better days and would suggest management having a more critical eye when viewing the property. There was needed repairs but they were minor and did not affect our stay negatively. The location is great with a nice pool (the size matched the property perfectly) amazing waterfront views and access to beach (it's very easy to get to...not sure why people have commented that it's hard to access). The hotel does not have a beach but it's very easy to access neighboring property/public beach. Overall we would definitely revisit Senses in the future for a quick, no hassle relaxing get away. I would recommend 4-5 nights stay but we definitely enjoyed our 6 nights of pure relaxation.

Just as a warning, many excursions that offer to pick you up can't actually reach the front of this particular hotel so you have to walk about a mile or so to the main road for excursions to pick you up from the hotel.

It's perfect for couples. It's quiet so I don't think all your family will have fun because it's for being quiet relaxed otherwise you will have to get out from the hotel and drive to the city.

I noticed that those boats were being used for scuba diving, snorkeling, and para-sailing. There is a PADI shop at the adjacent resort by the beach you can inquire.

Hi Angela, When reserving a room at Senses Riviera Maya I found many price points, with varied amenities, via different travel websites. We chose the "all inclusive option" which included breakfast, meals, and beverages in the restaurants. We also enjoyed cocktails in the restaurant and poolside with the all inclusive option. We did not use room service, but understood this would incur an additional fee. If you read my review, you will find this is an enjoyable/affordable all inclusive, but not strong on service. Not a place to feel pampered. I hope this is helpful. ~ John

I chatted with the concierge about transportation to and from the airport using this information: Denise R. Araiza Cel. 984.147.6700 conciergevip@artisanhotels.mx She was very helpful. Other contact happened through this email: reservaciones@artisanhotels.mx I learned about this hotel resort via a Groupon and booked through them.
