We recently stayed at The Old Dower House when attending a wedding at Wrenbury Hall.

Everything about the stay here was incredible. We booked the ‘Garden Retreat’ which is a beautifully restored and modernised cottage, which is split over three levels, with a stunning panoramic window with French doors leading out to the garden. The beds were extremely comfortable and we couldn’t have slept any better.

The extra amenities that were provided were high quality and luxurious.
We opted to have breakfast which was reasonably priced, delicious and came with a very personalised service by the host, Hannah, who also had specially baked a delicious Lemon Drizzle cake which was still warm on our arrival and was a homely touch.

Upon checking out with heavy heads after the wedding reception the previous evening, the owner allowed total flexibility in when we needed to check out and there was absolutely no pressure to vacate the property at a certain time as there was no one checking in after us, which is something that you’d have to pay a fair amount for elsewhere.

We have future events in the local area to the property and will not hesitate to get back in touch and stay at The Old Dower House every time without fail as our stay here absolutely made the weekend.

Thank you for a lovely stay!

What a lovely review. Each and every guest here is so important to us and being as flexible as possible and offering a personal service to suit the needs of our guests is part of what we believe in. We want our place to feel like a home from home and hope all of our guests leave feeling relaxed and looked after. Please do come back and stay next time you are in the area. You can always expect a very warm welcome.

What a treat this trip was. We stayed in the Garden Retreat after the 2nd lockdown when self catering accommodation was just opening up. This place was perfect. Very relaxing and lovingly furnished with everything you could wish for. Great shower and comfy bed and we had an excellent stay. The proprietor of the property was very helpful and nothing was too much trouble . We literally couldn’t fault our stay. The private garden at the front of our property was picture perfect with views of the village church and mere beyond. Location was good too in the midst of the Cheshire countryside with plenty of country pubs serving outside at the time, to enjoy. Unfortunately the village pub across the road had chosen not to open their outside area but I am sure if we come again we can try it out. Chester is only half an hour away and we enjoyed a day there using the park and ride. The weather during our stay was glorious and many days we just sat in the garden and enjoyed the peace. Very relaxing and I would highly recommend this place.

We stayed here for two nights whilst away from home for a friend’s wedding and it is such a hidden gem! The photos don’t do it justice, it’s absolutely gorgeous!

We arrived late after a long drive and Hannah had waited up to show us to our room/house which was lovely. We walked into an enormous room, much bigger than photos, with a huge kind sized bed in which I had the best night sleep I’d had for ages. The room was so quiet and you wake up to the most beautiful views of the countryside.

The waterfall shower was fantastic and so refreshing! Lovely toiletries provided.

Hannah had baked us a lemon drizzle cake that day and with the teas/coffees/hot chocolates provided in the room too it was such a lovely touch.

We stayed in the house which has a guest living room upstairs - gorgeous room with yet more lovely views over the countryside! The dining room is beneath the guest living room and Hannah cooked up the most delicious breakfast both mornings - I had the full English the first morning and pancakes with bacon and maple syrup the second and wolfed both down, such good cooking!

There are beautiful walks you can go on literally on your doorstep, The Swan pub and restaurant about 20 seconds away, and Chester/Whitchurch/Nantwich etc. are all a really short drive away so location is great.

I couldn’t recommend this place more - you’ll be so well looked after and come away feeling well fed, rested and refreshed.

We stayed at The Old Dower House for our wedding weekend. After postponing 3 times we had been in touch with Hannah for 2 and a half years before our stay. Hannah was so understanding throughout the changes and when it came to our stay she made sure everything was perfect. We arrived to freshly baked cake and biscuits and breakfast both days was delicious! The rooms are beautifully decorated and very clean. It was such a lovely place to get ready on my wedding morning with views of the church and the mere- I had no excuse to be late! It is also so nice to be in walking distance to such a good pub!

Driving away from the Old Dower House feeling nourished, happy and well cared for, treated as family. I can’t recommend this beautiful B&B highly enough.

We are a family of six travelling from Australia for a nearby wedding at the spectacular Grange Barn. Hannah welcomed us and showed us around. The photos simply don’t do it justice. All the little luxuries thought of and provided. Hannah had made up extra beds for our children and baked home made lemon drizzle cake and yummy cookies for us. The breakfast was first class, enjoyed around the family table.

I had been unwell in the lead up and on the day of the wedding, suffered an asthma attack. Hannah drove me to the nearby hospital half an hour away and waited with me for two hours. Such kindness is beyond words and I can’t thank her enough.

We were all sad to leave and look forward to returning one day.

Just got back from the charming Old Dower House in Marbury. My wife and I had a delightful weekend stay.
The room was excellent as was the breakfasts served and prepared by our wonderful hosts Hannah and Trevor
Hannah couldn’t do enough for us. On Friday evening we ate at the nearby Swan public house which was also excellent
It is situated in a lovely part of the country. Well worth the visit

This B&B is outstanding. The bed room was spacious, well equipped, comfortable and has amazing views. Fabulous linens, large fluffy towels and great quality products in the bathroom. All the facilities for guests are exceptional, such as spacious lounge, dining area and outside seating. Fabulous location. Peaceful. Breakfast menu is extensive and very impressive and the breakfasts I chose were divine. The hostess is welcoming, friendly and made me feel extremely comfortable. Highly recommend.

Stayed two nights and wished it was four! Had a fantastic en suite room with a private lounge upstairs and our own garden entrance. On arrival Hannah greeted us with a perfect gluten-free (I'm coeliac) lemon drizzle cake. So quiet and peaceful with wonderful walks and The Swan only a stone's throw away serving great food. Thank you Hannah for a perfect stay. We'll be back!

Wonderful B&B
Our friends had stayed here before and said how gorgeous it was so I was expecting good but this was on another level. Absolutely gorgeous.
There wasn’t anything we needed as it had all been thought about. The attention to detail was incredible.
We were spoilt for choice at breakfast time.
Hannah was so welcoming, including a lemon drizzle cake for us.
Handy for the local pub which was a 3 minute walk away and did excellent food.
We would definitely stay here again.

The Old Dower house comprises two kinds of experience: The Retreat is a beautiful self-catering facility separate from the main house. I stayed there for three weeks while buying a house in the area. Because The Retreat was then booked, I transferred to the B&B for the rest of my trip. The amenities throughout are high quality but it is the hospitality that makes this such a unique place to stay. From the welcome pack and the delicious breakfast of fresh local produce, to the attention to detail and friendly but unobtrusive service, there is nothing to fault and a perfect opportunity to enjoy what the area has to offer. Quite superb.
