We stayed 7 nights. A few days before we were due to travel I discovered our original hotel was still closed. We phoned the El Cid to confirm they were open and had availability and then booked directly online
We were able to check in online. We landed at 10.45 am and at 11.30 am we were checked in and in a lovely room with a great seaview. The breakfast is a buffet with a great variety of food. We went to the beach all day and did not spend any time at the pool. We also ate out each night and I would highly recommend Nogues Restaurant. The hotel is in a great location for bars and restaurants.
There is shower gel, soap and shampoo in the bathroom but I always bring conditioner with me. I really enjoyed my week and slept really well as the bed was comfortable and the bedclothes had a luxurious feel to them. I hope to return to the El Cid again.

Hotel staff are friendly and helpful, especially the concierge, they will go the extra mile to help you out. Writing down places to visit and restaurants that are good in the local area. The cleaning ladies who do the rooms are very friendly and do a great job.
The rooms here are basic. Think holiday Inn on a beach front location. I found it strange that there was a kettle in the room and 2 cups but no tea or coffee? We were told if we wanted tea or coffee it had to be purchased from the bar. Bit odd. Also, no water provided in the rooms. Again, had to purchase from the bar. At 1.80Euro for a small bottle in the hotel bar you are best buying it at the local shop and popping it in the fridge in your room.
Breakfast is good, lots of choice but it is the same stuff every day so if you were here for a week it may get a bit samey.
Dinner was a disaster! The evening buffet is like a school canteen. Don’t eat in the restaurant here. There is so much wonderful food outside the hotel, you’d actually be better off at the McDonalds or KFC down the road.
The evening food in the hotel was just full of salt, had no flavour, incredibly oily and Luke warm. The desserts were hilarious and had so many flavour enhancers and E numbers you can actually taste them while you eat.
We had a few small bites of the food here before deciding to head back out for dinner outside of the hotel.
The pool area is beautiful and there is a grumpy waiter who will come take drinks orders once you have stared at him enough. All the good comfy sun beds are around the pool at the back, which makes no sense because the pool at the front is where the sun is and where everyone wants to be.
The beaches are beautiful and the hotel is cleaned to a very high standard.

Something about Mallorca in general to be aware of, face masks must be worn at all times. Unless you are in a bar or restaurant. So, if you are walking around in the blazing heat, on your own, not near anybody else... Facemask! If you are sat in close proximity to others in a bar or restaurant chatting and socialising... No Facemask. Go figure!?
Also around the pool or on the beach you don’t have to wear one either. So basically, wherever people congregate and transmission rates are likely to be high, no face mask. You get it 🙂

I recently stayed at the El Cid hotel just as UK passengers were permitted to travel without quarantine. I had already been let down by 2 other hotels in the same resort , both cancelling my reservation within 4 days of travel so I was feeling very apprehensive. I contacted the THB El Cid by email just to make sure they were actually open before making a reservation and within a few minutes I received a response from Jordi , the hotel director who put my mind at ease , me and my husband had had to cancel a trip of a lifetime to US and Hawaii due to covid and Jordi offered me a free room upgrade to best room in the hotel right on the seafront , top floor and the glass balconies make the seaviews amazing , he even arranged for and a bottle of cava on arrival !
From the minute we arrived we felt safe , the hotel was top notch regarding cleanliness , sanitising the sunloungers whenever anyone left , hand sanitiser everywhere and even allowed us to keep our room until we left for the airport at 7.30pm without any additional charge so as not to have guests sharing courtesy rooms.
Fantastic hotel , great staff and the best spot in Can Pastilla , cant wait to come back
Thankyou Jordi

The best aspect of this hotel has to be the location. A 5 minutes drive from the airport, 30m from the beach and right in the heart of C'an Pastilla.

The reception was warm and friendly as despite arriving early at @10am with the rooms not usually available to 3pm, we were ready to move into our rooms at@11am after a quick drink.

We stayed on a B&B basis and were requested to wear a pink wrist band. Breakfast was absolutely superb, with a wide choice to suit every possible taste. We took our breakfast each day on the sun terrace and the coffee was provided by your own Barista. I always had 3 cups of coffee every morning as it was just so rich, smooth and not at all bitter - great coffee.

The hotel provided large towels for the sunbeds which are different from the normal bathroom towels. There was always loads of sun beds for everyone and both pools provided a really quiet and relaxing area (although due to refurbishment of an adjacent building the rear pool could be noisy on occasions).

This is an adults only hotel, so there are no screaming kids around to disturb the peace.

We had a really relaxing 7 days break. Despite being really close to the airport, the planes never once disturbed our relaxation.

This hotel is right in the heart of the resort for shopping, bars and restaurants and the mini landtrain also takes you up to El Aranel for a change of scenery. Palma is also a short bus ride away and only costs 2 Euros each way.

Highly recommended.

I booked this hotel in a hurry as I was leaving for the Balearics the day after the UK green list was updated. The booking was made on previous multiple great reviews, being a 4*, someone's comment that is Covid secure and arrangements to have a Covid test prior to return to the UK.
The good thing is that staff are working hard, are friendly and trying to help. The room is modern with a lovely sea view. You can also book a lateral flow test for 30 euros for your return back to your country ( it meets the UK Government standards).

The not so good things: I actually feel unsafe in the hotel because Covid measures are not enforced. The vast majority of people do not wear masks in the lifts and on the corridors ( mostly Germans and French). The hotel is busy, the lifts are small and slow. This was discussed with one of the hotel managers. There are no signs to remind people that masks are obligatory and so far I didn't see an employee challenging a customer for not wearing masks in public spaces.

I also watched the waitress from the swimming pool when serving dinner. All tables are being covered with table mats. The waitress are cleaning the table underneath the table mat but not the table mat itself. These are not being changed between customers. I explained that people's droplets are landing straight on the table mats and therefore the mats must be changed between customers but no changes were noticed. This is not acceptable.

The housekeeping cleaner was giving me a clean beach towel that was placed on her dirty linen trolley. She gave me a towel from her clean trolley once I pointed out ( lovely person otherwise!).

The hotel is also the noisiest hotel I ever stayed. If the town cleaning machines are not waking you up at 06-0700 am to clean the streets, or the planes ( the planes can be heard early hours in the morning), the other clients will wake up around 0100-0200 am with loud music and smoking- the smell goes straight into the room ( even if these tourists are 2 rooms away from you). I had to call the Reception on two occasions to ask their clients to put the loud music down ( the hotel is not a disco).

I will definitely not return to this hotel and I'm afraid I cannot recommend it.

Dear cladiacgc, Thanks very much for your comment. We are happy to see, that our staff was nice to you at all moments. They always do their bests, in order to make the guests feel confortable during their stay at our hotel. It is also nice for us to read about your comment regarding the room with sea view, and the fact that the guests can make at the hotel a PCR, or antigen test. We are sorry, if you did not feel safe for the covid measures, but something we can guarantee, is that when we see somebody that is not wearing the mask, we encourage them to put it on inside. Although sure, that not all the guest obey, we encourage each guest that we see without the mask to put it on. That is the reason why I have to deny categorically your comment saying that we do not challenge them to wear it. Also we have to say, that there are signs all over the hotel saying that the mask is compulsory all over the hotel. So seriously we take this, that also we have all over the hotel, machines, for the guests with soap, to encourage them to wash hands with the hidroalcoholic gel. We also want to apolotize if the table mats are not changed, but what we can say, is that they are desinfected, each time a new guest occupies a table. We are also sorry if the noise of the hotel was bothering for you. About the town cleaning machines, there is nothing we can do, but for the next time, we would advice you, that if some of our guests wakes you up at 01:00 - 02:00, you can say at the reception, and we go to see the noisy guests, to tell them to stop making noise for the respect of the other guests that are at our hotel. Finally, we want to apologize once more, if the stay was not good for you, and we will keep on working, in order to improve the services with our guests. Thanks very much, Kind regards,

I have recently returned from a wonderful week's stay in El Cid, with my wife and a friend. The hotel is as lovely as I remember. The staff were so helpful and professional. The hotel have continued to have good safety measures, and social distancing.
My room was lovely, great space, and I welcomed the aircon, as the temperature was still deliciously warm outside. We also enjoyed the nice touch of receiving a fresh carton of drinking water daily.
The location of the hotel is ideal, only 5 mins drive from the airport, but it is not noisy. The great selection of local restaurants within a 5 min walk is still nice, highly recommend La Bella Vita.
I valued how well spaced the dining area was, to accommodate the guests, and the breakfast buffet was delicious. Such a great variety and selection, I like the continental selection, and the Mallorcan specialities. The fruit was always fresh, and the selection of pastries were a treat each morning, which I made sure to try them all. I especially recommend the ensaimadas, as they are a very typical mallorcan pastry.
The hotel has 2 pools, the Molino (windmill) pool is my favourite, and so relaxing. Plus the bonus of the pool bar, with delicious food, and the best Mojito's we had on the island. Yes we sampled alot! Also my pregnant wife highly recommends the frozen yoghurt smoothie!

We moved to another part of the island for the second week of our hoiday, but the staff were very helpful in researching where we could get our pre-flight PCR tests, which was really appreciated.
All in all, El Cid is still a wonderful hotel so well run, and such friendly and helpful staff. I am looking forward to booking in again next year! You will not be disappointed.

The location of the El Cid was perfect, right across from the beach. The hotel itself was spotless and the view from the room was outstanding. The modern room was really spacious with plenty of hanging space, a really comfy bed and lovely bedding. It had a fridge with water, hairdryer, kettle, all that was needed to make tea/coffee, a clothes horse to hang dirty washing and wet towels on an evening which was on a really spacious balcony. The bathroom was big with a rainfall shower.

The food was varied and a different theme every night which had lots of choice, even fussy eaters could not go hungry. There was plenty of it. It had a "show cooking" so all fish and meat were cooked in front of you. The desserts were lovely, could not help but try several!

The staff were helpful and hardworking, nothing was too much trouble.

We had an early departure so were allowed to go into breakfast before it was opened so that was a big bonus.

The large beach towels are in the room, no messing about to ask for them.

There are 2 pools and plenty of sunbeds with umbrellas and 1 indoor pool, beauty treatments, a free sauna and gym.

Please note a local tax is payable on arrival at reception. There are loads of bars and restaurants outside the hotel if you are breakfast only, glad we weren't as the hotel food was lovely. There are local buses to Palma costing 2 euros, very frequent but REMEMBER they still wear face masks on public transport.

One suggestion - take your own tea bags.

If I have to give any downsides of the holiday it would be there is no entertainment which would have gone down a treat with such a lovely hotel bar/lounge which had nobody in, in the evening. However, you can sit and watch the world go by on the seats/loungers on the terrace in the evening, looking out to all the boats and children playing on the sand. The other, there are no TV instruction booklets but so easy to use and no list of tele numbers for reception/outside lines if needed but then most people have a mobile anyway.

My husband and I enjoyed a few days at El Cid hotel and 3 nights at THB Guya Playa hotel, in our annual holiday stay in Mallorca, this September.
THB El CID was a pleasure to stay at again, it felt totally safe, all staff wearing PPE and respecting social distancing. The food was to their usual high standard. The staff were friendly and attentive. It was such a relaxed environment, I wish we'd stayed longer. But needed to return home to quarantine. Thank you for making us feel safe, relaxed and special.

We. Arrived at the hotel at just after 9pm, and quickly checked in.
The reception kindly asked if we would like to go for dinner before they closed so we had something to eat
The room was clean and modern with comfortable beds and pillows
Great views over the bay and even watching the planes take off and landing
Dispite being so close to the airport there is no noise
The hotel is clean and staff are. Friendly and helpful
Large bar Area and great views of the Bay from the poolside
Sun is on the pool area all day
The food is good, and there is a different cultured cuisine daily
We sampled American, tropical and gala cena whilst there

I booked thais place because it was rather cheap (I paid around 75 USD for a single room for one night), near the beach and near the airport and had a balcony. Little did I know that the hotel is actually right ON the beach and has very good views from most rooms. My room (531) had a rather big balcony overlooking both the mountains and the beach, very pleasant view. It was rather big, newly renovated and clean. there was a fridge, lots of closet space, tv and everything you should need. Shampoo, bath gel and toothbrush etc. is provided as well as a carton with water (the tap water tasted alright though). Breakfast was decent with okay coffee and warm and cold options (there seemed to be a manned egg station also). Good pool areas on both sides of the hotel. Lovely beach, a few good restaurants nearby as well as beakeries, supermarkets and a bus to the airport (very short ride but costs 5 Euros - although I paid 2 Euros for the much longer ride from Palma to hotel). Recommended. In the basement there's sauna and Turkish bath which seemed to be free for guests (but should be booked because of covid restrictions).
