The resort is well maintained, staff polite and helpful. Lots of activities included in the price. Optional fine dining or self catering as the resort offers hotel and self catering options. Vast space and views of the mountains. Dam that has it own ferry operating tours twice a day. Fun and games poolside by the resorts own entertainment team. Kids play area, beach volleyball ball, massive chess and snake and ladders on the lawn. Lots to do, alternatively check in at the Spa that is located on the premises. Braai facilities closer to self catering unit with lovely views of the dam and mountains.

Pros Good clean rooms, clean linens. Buffet breakfast and dinner were decent, had enough to offer. Great views, hike trails, gardens around the hotel are very well kept, and a big positive part of the experience. Cons Lack of manpower during breakfast and dinner meant long queues were forming frequently. No lifts, so lots of stairs to climb if you book a room on the upper floors. Overall a good experience.

We went as a family and booked one of the self-catering timeshare villas. Looking fwd to explore the area as we have never been in this part before. The resort itself is very nice and the accommodation was good and we had our own own built-in braai. It's not a gas braai so remember to take wood or charcoal. The fishing however was very dissapointing because the website advertise fly-fishing for rainbow trout but there is absolutely none in the dam, being "eaten by the bass" apparantly. According to the staffmember who signs out the boats on the dam it has not been stocked for over 4 years and you dont see any surface activity of feeding fish or fish patrolling the shadows. Lots of hiking can be done however and the Blue Grotto is definitively recommended, as is the Zip-line Canopy tour.

The decor in common areas is Mountain Lodge and lives up to expectations and creates that lovely winter lodge feeling with fireplaces everywhere. Luckily the weather was good and we could explore the expansive resort gardens. There are a lot of outdoor activities around the area ie horse riding , tree zip lines and hiking. The pool area is lovely with entertaining for families. The rooms are comfortable but in need of an update.just ripping off the old carpets and tiling the rooms and passageways would do. The staff is most attentive and kind.
