We loved our time at Medina Palms! The resort itself is beatiful - lovely greenery and the swimming pools are ideal for adults and children. Our two children 4 and 18 months loved their time there. The kids club was brilliant. Petronilla and Eunice were great with our children and did lots of activities with them. They also have a babysitting service which we made use of so we could go out some evenings. The food was exceptional! They have a great menu for both adults and children. Also don't forget to get a cocktail as the bar staff are great at making them. Would highly recommend with families looking for a relaxing break but also adults who want a bit of paradise!

Clean rooms, great food but terribly overpriced wine. Expect to pay US$80 for $15 Wine. By far the best staff service we have had so far. BUT!!! They were carrying out renovations and our three days were ruined by continuous angle grinding and hammering. The beach at the front of the hotel has a lot of litter. A disappointing trip but made easier by amazing staff.

We got a 2 bedroom Villa at this beautiful property and we enjoyed our stay thoroughly. Check in was smooth and friendly. The Villa was impeccably clean. The pools were a joy to swim in and the beachfront area a delight to star gaze. Be sure to wear something warm to break the wind out here at night though. Breakfast had a variety to choose from but I would say a bit $$$ I’d recommend a stay here while in Watamu

Excellent location, we stayed in ocean villa and despite the June rain, enjoyed the beach - 2 minutes walk-, the pools, in particular the infinity pool! The food at the restaurant was excellent, we enjoyed many long, lazy breakfasts and were very well taken care of by all staff in particular Fatima and Martha. Yummy fresh eggs made as you request, freshly made pancakes and waffles, fresh fruit and a selection of other breakfast foods which changed over the 5 days we were there and ranged from lentils, oxtail, soups, butternut squash, sweet potatoes, arrow roots- as well as cereals, breads, selection of pastries, bacon! So so good! One thing you can improve on was the pork sausages - they didn’t hit the spot. I suspect they were not farmers choice. Down in the bar area Collins and Janji were extremely helpful and went out of their way to help e.g. when we requested an early breakfast last minute! Collins- thank you for organising this. In housekeeping Zawadi kept our villa clean, and fresh. Julius was there to answer questions & guide us as needed. Emmanuel taught us how to wind surf, with lots of patience & grace! Can’t wait to try out my new skills again. Excellent location & facilities, friendly & welcoming staff (apologies to all the other amazing staff I’ve not mentioned). The well-being spa was great. One thing to note, the floors are a significant falls risk in the rain - good foot wear is essential! When dry, not a problem. All in all, an excellent location, excellent villa, lovely staff.

We have been coming here since before covid and the location, the pool and the wonderful and accommodating staff are what bring us back again and again. The reason this review is not a 5 star is because the facilities are falling into a category not worthy of a 5 star hotel/resort. The pool loungers and tables are old, starting to rot and all the metal is rusty, many of the pool umbrellas are stained (mold?). We regularly ask for rooms by the pool, which are 2-bedrooms (they lock off the 2nd room) and have a nice sitting area, a dining area and a kitchen. We use the kitchen with every trip and are faced with missing utensils, broken coffee machines, no kitchen towels (this time we had to ask three times for kitchen towels), a leaky faucet, aging appliances, stained counters, etc... The furniture is aging, most of the tables are uneven and stained. The bathroom has two sinks, one of which didn't drain properly, the toilet often required an extra flush or two; the shower floor was stained. Let me be very clear - EVERYTHING is very clean, spotless in fact, and the cleaning staff is fabulous and attentive... the beds are comfortable and the linens divine. We understand : 1) these are condos (we've meet various owners, British) and therefore have to be managed differently than a full resort or hotel; 2) Covid was a hard hit on vacation locales and they are in the process of 'coming' back, and this takes time and investment; 3) This is a beach resort - sun, wind, and rain are hard on the facilities in a place like this - even without the covid hit. We will be back.... and, I would like to see the owners/collective put some more care into updating and replacing plumbing fixtures, furniture, towels (beach and bath both), and the pool area furnishings.

Such a beautiful hotel. I stayed at the 3 bedroom ocean view villa and I totally enjoyed the experience. The villa is massive and well decorated. I felt at home. Safety was key for me as we were traveling with kids. We had a private chef organized by the hotel for lunch and dinner. The staff were kind and hospitable in exception to a few ( especially the females, they need a little training on how to be more customer centric) . I would like to Thank Martha and Kaka who went above and beyond to make us comfortable. Dave at the pool bar/restaurant was extremely hospitable and always on top of things; really friendly . I am vegan and didn’t have any issues getting some delicious meals. Janji makes the best Cosmopolitan drinks. I have not seen clean pools, well maintained like at Medina. Patrick was very nice and made sure the pool was clean at all times. Having a guard at all times was helpful for me, as I was confident someone was watching the kids. The beach was not all that, but very accessible despite getting over a pile of leaves. The rooms could be re-stocked better especially the coffee and sweeteners, and also towels. I had to ask for things all the time, the room cleaners could have read what we were consuming and replenished. In all, it’s a wonderful hotel and would definitely recommend it to prospective guests with families. Thank you

We just returned from a 10 night stay at Medina Palms (MP). We booked based on other Trip Advisor reviews and were delighted with the accommodation and service quality. MP recognised the relatively long duration of our stay and kindly upgraded our accommodation which was most comfortable and spacious. The staff are very friendly and there are too many to name but we found Bosco our daily room attendant very thorough , friendly and happy to help. Likewise Martha and Patrick at breakfast time were most obliging and accommodated us sort vegan choices. Collins in dinner also helped liaise with the chefs and ensured the vegetarian choices could be made vegan. We were not disappointed with the food choices and the staff who served us MP area isn’t suitable for long beach walks as the extent of weeds was over whelming ! But the private hotel beach area is very pleasant for relaxation. Also the water based activities are great and Emmanuel was very helpful in teaching me wind surfing. The MP gym is very basic but the staff attendant , Dickson , was very helpful in ensuring a full workout by adopting the use of the equipment and free weights. We visited the Treehouse for yoga and did scuba diving with James at ( Black Merlin ) which was amazing. We had various treatments in the Sakina spa and the general manager , Edwin , was very knowledgeable and helpful in scheduling our treatments. In particular Terri was very good as she understood reflexology which helped certain foot I experience. Overall I would not hesitate recommending MP and look forward to returning .

Love the place, friendly staff, immaculate apartments, great restaurant, right on the beach - and what a beach. It doesn’t get any better. Our only complaint is the coffee, which is too strong, keeps you awake all day and that wasn’t in the plan, we were after all on holiday.

This was our first time to Watamu and to Medina Palms. Travelling after a horrendous year and with major health challenges. From the start the hotel (Cynthia) was incredibly supportive, advising us on nearby doctors and reassuring us. Our home for the week was quite simply the most beautiful space we've ever stayed in. From the huge comfortable beds, lamu sofas and gorgeous bathrooms to the spacious changing areas and terraces. We loved the details, the sparkling clean and beautiful decor, brass lanterns, pretty tiles and rugs and the fresh frangipani and bougainvillea flowers laid out in the rooms. Outside our rooms we loved getting to know the team. Emmanuel taught me to windsurf with such patience. George at the beach bar was endlessly friendly and attentive. Loved our chats with the guards, the waiting staff (hi Kaka and Patrick) and the housekeeping (Rezeiki). Breakfast was delicious especially served in the oasis in the garden. The pools were just gorgeous, deliciously warm, and with a stunning view onto the sea! The private beach was heavenly just steps away from the warm Indian ocean. Look out for Mr Small and Lucas on the beach who organised a wonderful dophin and diving trip for us and another Emmanual from the Sea Park Management who toured us around the rock pools to find all sorts of amazing creatures. All in all we couldn't recommend this hotel more highly. Thank you Medina Palms for an incredibly special and precious holiday.
