We checked in around 1pm, expect a buffet lunch which we were told we would get when booking. Once we sat for lunch, we asked the waiter if we could see the menu and he said they don’t have a menu, the CHEF will decide what we eat. I was in shock. So we basically said I don’t think he can pick what we want to eat… so the chef came and said I have beef , chicken , fish… pick between those 3. Sides we have chips and rice. We opted for chicken.. I personally had chicken and rice . The chicken was grilled ( super dry) , served with rice ( boiled) with not even a sauce … we asked for a sauce and they whipped up some kinda tomato sauce that tasted like nacho salsa… we kept our cool and said maybe dinner would be a buffet since lunch some guests might be on half board, we took full board. DINNER Time!! We go to the dining hall. NO BUFFET. We said it alright as long as they serve us something good… Guess what?! They said the chef has cooked dinner and it’s beef stew and rice ( mchuzi wa nyama na wali wa kuchemsha) how? I was confused . Felt ripped off … I tried to eat it and damn the meat tasted like COW! It was soo strong. I sent it back and they brought me same thing but fish on the side . It was dry and just a mess. At this point My hubby and I were super upset. We eat better at home! Why did we drive all the way from Mombasa to watamu for this? Earlier on when we checked in and they brought us to the room . I asked the staff if we could get a blanket and he said they don’t provide blankets. Mind you the rooms have a.c …. Night came … we went to bed… we froze ! The beds are super uncomfortable… all we had was a super duper thin bedsheet. I swear we had the worst night ! We woke up in the morning and wanted to check out … but we were basically told if we check out early we will have to pay 100 USd . Which did not make any sense. Hubby suggested we just stay. Morning came, We woke up and headed to the dining hall. They gave us egg options. I personally don’t eat eggs and my daughter is Allergic to eggs. They offered sausages ( they were not halaal) . So they ended up bringing us ( eggs, toast, biscuits and a mahamri 😂🙏) I literally ate nothing on that plate. The chef was concerned and offered to make me a cheese sandwich … which was very thoughtful… We spoke to the agency we booked through. They contacted the hotel about the issue of the meals. Finally they decided to give us a menu… we picked what you eat.. the lunch and dinner that day was good. Night came ( time to sleep) day 2 We asked for 2 blankets. The receptionist said we should have asked earlier ( which we did, and they said they don’t provide) he said the room that has blankets is locked and all the staff have left??? Have can a RESORT not have staff at night ? And how do they even lock a room with beddings? What if my daughter threw up on the sheets? Or any accident happened ? But anyways . He called me and said he got us a blanket… It was brought . Can I tell you that was the most disgusting blanket I had ever seen! It was nasty! It smelt so bad … it was dusty and when you moved it dirt would literally come off it! My whole body started to itch. I took it outside the room. I tried to call the reception but they literally ignored our calls. We found cockroaches in the room… not to forget! The room smelt horrible! It had this musty smell. I wish I had read all the reviews and actually believed them before coming here. Lesson learnt? Kindly check reviews of a place before booking it, I hope you don’t experience what we just did, I posted the pictures I managed to take. I hope these will be of help.

What a disgusting place. I was conned. Expensive dump. From the thumping music pool side being played by a group of drunk buddies , to the filthy room.... the reception area should have been enough for me to realise what was in store for us.I think the owners have walked off the job a long time ago and left it to a few locals. My choice of dingy rooms were mound smelling or paint smelling. Other rooms with doors opened and mattresses leaning against walls .No toiletries at all supplied but for a small tube of rubbish soap. So many appalling things. I honestly need to tell you that your holiday in Kenya will be totally spoilt if you venture into this shocking excuse for a resort. I assure you I travel the world quite a lot and this is by far the worst excuse of a holiday destination I have ever encountered.

Made a booking at a property that was closed and our booking was moved to Twiga Beach. The staff was amazing and extremely friendly. This is an Italian resort and activities are rightfully done in Italian. Although we do not speak Italian, the staff went above and beyond to include our family. The food was incredibly good every meal. Beautiful pool and beach. We would certainly come back for another holiday.

Went to attend a wedding by the beach and decided to stay at the same place. the food was very disappointing in flavors as well as time. Dinner was served not earlier than 8.30pm strictly. breakfast was not so fresh croissants, dry cake, pancake/omelette and a cereal. Doesn't seem good enough for a hotel where you pay full board. they didnt have most of the known beverages, despite there being a wedding in the resort. The rooms were excellent, and the surrounding is beautiful too!

Nice hotel, however the staff are not responsive at all, allocated me 2 rooms without my asking thinking only for me to be asked for extra money to which I said No to as they made the mistake on their end. I asked for an extra bed and one of the staff (John Guyo) told me he will think about it. I was in shock, and asked if that is how they respond to guests, he told me he is not speaking to me till I vacate the extra room to which I asked what was the procedure and he told me to remove my things (his exact words) and hand over the key to the reception... I was speechless. Food was wanting only 1 protein (eggs) for breakfast and food timings are not friendly at all 1.30-2pm for lunch and 8.30pm for dinner. kids cannot be fed earlier unless the GM approves it, to which he even stopped the chef on day 1 from serving us food for the kids till it was time. By the second last day there was no toothpicks available at the facility, I mean??? They only concentrate on the foreigners and ignore all the other locals which is sad... Otherwise if they improved on the above, they would rate high.....

In terms of the Superb. Senior Management staff pathetic experience. Very poor hospitality. Poor decorum. I had very much frustration during my event planning. Please respect your client. Mr. Guyo don't abuse power time is more powerful

I with my friends visited Twiga beach & spa and we were welcome with traditional dance. Check in was very fast and we were shown our rooms. Rooms near the beach have very good view of ocean. The property is under new management, staff were very professional, very clean rooms and very good food. Keep it up.

I would like to give this place a better than average rating however some fundamental resolvable issues have let it down. My partner and I arrived for a new year break and sadly were disappointed from the onset. We booked through booking.com and instantly found the place is not accurately located on the map nor in the description. It is located approx. 10km off the tarmac road north of watamu, a round trip taxi costing upto 6000ksh to the centre of watamu. Not what we were expecting at all given we had based ourselves in watamu to celebrate with friends staying in town. When we arrived we were greeted with a cold towel and refreshing drink by wonderful professional national staff. Checking into our room with fabulous views of turquoise ocean, ornate pool and white sands we were impressed, however we soon discovered there was no power and therefore no water and no ac/fan. A dip in the salt pool was great however not being able to wash off the salt wasn't. Dinner was average and really only catered for italians with all signs in Italian. With the power issues still not resolved the next day, and with us both living in kenya we know KPL can take ages to resolve issues, we would have expected the management to have prepare for this and had generators. They didn't and even though the national staff assured us the manager is working in it, we didn't want to waste any more of our holiday hot sweaty and unwashed. So we decided to check out. I have to say the national staff made a huge effort to get us to stay and did everything within their power, however the lack of management presence/preparation meant we weren't the only ones to check out that day, a few other families did also! All in all the place was a let down for us. If the management can put some contingency plans in place for power and update the listings to reflect the accurate location then maybe it would get better ratings. I will say again the national FoH staff were incredible, can't say the same for the expat staff wearing twiga logo'd tshirts who appeared to be sitting around the whole time and only took the time to speak to the Italian guests, the rest of us were not even acknowledged. Summary if you are Italian and are happy to be out of town then you may enjoy this place.

Not sure where to begin as I was seeking for an ideal property in the white sands of Watamu to cross over into the new year. I selected Twiga Beach as it seemed to fit majority of my criteria as per description on TripAdvisor and Booking.com To my surprise, the strong of issues begun from the less than ideal road leading to the property. From the Mombasa Malindi Highway, visitors have to contend with about 8 kilometers of very rough road to the hotel. This threw me off especially since I was self driving. at night. On arrival at the resort, the property was above average in appearance but unfortunately we were greeted by incompetent staff at the front desk who took at least 3 hours to find us the room we had booked for. Although friendly, they kept making excuses for the delays and at one point confessed to have given our room other guests as we waited. Eventually we were allocated to a good room with a nice pool and sea view. Sadly the room fell short of a number of basic requirements; 1. The Air conditioning was faulty and the overhead fan made this annoying clikcing sound on every rotation 2. The bathroom water was NEVER hot and had very little pressure and at some point even disappeared completely. 3. Housekeeping: Towels were not replenished after being taken for cleaning and speaking of towels, they were very discolored and had bad odor as if used for several years without replacement. 4. Sockets in the room were European Standard never mind that Kenyan sockets follow UK standards. The front desk did not have any adapters for their guests so we had to drive to Malindi (20kms away) to buy socket adapters just our phones can get charged. 5. The TV contained only 3 channels all of which were in Italian The restaurant staff were very courteous and the meals mainly featured Italian dishes. Unfortunately all labels for the dishes were written in Italian including milk. The swimming pool is amazing in size and shape but if you would like to swim in a fresh water pool, please look elsewhere as this is a very salty one. The biggest disappointment arose upon checking out when the front desk staff informed us that they do not accept payment via credit/debit card. It came as a huge surprise how such a huge property could operate even for a day without a PDQ machine to make payments. After a lot of tussle we demanded to speak with the hotel manager who arranged for us to be transported to their sister hotel 6kms away where we could swipe our cards for payment. Overall, I think guests that are non-Italian will have a very unpleasant experience since the management of the resort has made no effort to make non-Italian guests comfortable especially domestic tourists.

On 30th dec me and 5 other friends went to Twiga club viaggi watamu for a 3 night stay. After reaching Watamu, we couldnt find our way to the hotel. It is located in a very remote area. There are simply no sign boards . We had to stop every now and then to ask the local villagers for directions. Anyways, finally we reached there at around 9.00 pm, tired and exhausted after a long drive from Dar es salaam. We were shown to our rooms after a long wait, and we couldnt wait to get a shower. But lo behold! The taps were dry. No water! Flush not working. We couldnt sleep because AC also was out of order. At the restaurant, food was so so.. The next morning we packed our bags and left. At the reception we found two other families who had come to stay for 3 nights and they too were leaving. There are other better hotels in Watamu.JUst stay away from Twga Club Viaggi if you really are looking for a relaxing holiday.
