We stayed for 3 nights and loved this hotel. Reviews suggest it is run down and tired. This was not our experience at all. My only issues were pre arrival. It was not clear at all how to get to the hotel. Cable car? This hotel is actually in the mid hills and you do not need a cable car to get here. You can arrive by bus to the GPO (shops) near the hotel. Then you can either use hotel shuttle bus or use a Grab. The shuttle runs every hour. Leaves the hotel on the hour and from the GPO on the half hour (no service at 7.30pm). The bus is small and it is first come first served and there is no room for big luggage. Grab cost us 20RM with luggage so we were happy. Some say you can walk from the GPO to the hotel but I could not see a route and would not recommend it. Another reviewer said there room opened onto the GPO. I think they must mean they had a view of it. The hotel is definitely not connected to the GPO and there is a steep hill and busy roads between. You get one free cable car ticket per room - not per person which takes you from the Awana Sky station at the GPO up to the top of the mountain where there are many more hotels and a huge complex of shops, restaurants, casinos, theme parks etc. At busy times up to 500,000 visitors go each day!!! It is a monumental place. There are shops and restaurants at the GPO but there are so many more at the top of the mountain but the cost is higher. I thought that the restaurants in the Awana hotel were good but we did not try breakfast. The Awana Bio Park is not fully open yet as it is undergoing major renovation. Hopefully the Biopark will be fully operational by early 2025. It should be amazing when fully open. Meantime you can take a 2 hour guided nature walk on the Clearwater Trail for 20RM per person at 9am each day. If you are lucky you will be accompanied by Pat or Eddie Chan who are both passionate and fascinating people who are dedicating their lives to this area.

I love the location of the hotel. The surrounding nature is so calming and relaxing. I love the indoor garden where they grow their own veggies for use in the restaurant. The Gondola ride to the main Genting Highlands is nearby, there is a shuttle that runs to the base of the Gondola ride and to Genting Premium Outlet. Breakfast buffet is good. Overall a good stay. The Building is Old, but still OK. We got a room that opens to Genting Premium Outlet. What made me rate this as 3 is the smell of the room when we went in. Smells like a damp cloth contained in the enclosed space for a long time. Maybe we got a room not used for some time (one off)? Ended up opening all the windows, turning the AC on, went out and comeback after hours. Worth giving a second stay. Might have a different experience.

Pros: - Free water provided - Free shuttle service to premium outlets Cons: - Okish rooms, quite old and not renovated. - You can see rust in many bathroom fittings showing how old and non-maintained it is - Note that the free skyway ticket given is only 1, not 1 per family member, but 1 per room. - Food is very okish. The first time I saw them making omlettes and leaving it there and serving cold omlettes. - The chef had the audacity to question our lifestyle - he asked why I eat egg, but not chicken. This is when I asked him for an omlette without meat. He was insisting I take the omletter that he had already prepared and tried to inform me it was without meat. I could clearly see the meat and I had to raise my voice and point it out before he agreed to make an other omlette without meat. Very poor service in the breakfast restaurant. - Also, things get over very soon in restaurant, but is not filled quickly. So, you better get things when you see them, else you wait for a long time. - If you plan to stay here and visit Genting theme park, think again, as it is hard to get taxis and the van services from the resort is expensive. - The water jug in the room was not even washed and filled when we checked in. - The floor in the room is uneven where there is different flooring from room to entrance of bathroom. High chances of stumbling, be careful if you have senior citizens or kids. Overall I would never stay in this hotel again.

Everything is lousy. The basin was choked when we use it. The wifi was not working at all and need to change. Worst still, the room size is not as per what they advertised. It seems to me is a scam to book their Hotel. Bad experience and never book it anymore.

Only stayed 1 night with my family…but I really hope we could spent more night in this resort..!! Room very clean and modern, booked room with 2 double bed, water refill in front off room, nice staffs, they have free shuttle bus every hours to awana sky and premium outlet, but you can only spending your time in hotel, cos they have pool, bar, coffeeshop, and restaurant and stuffs for your kids…definitely will be back

We had stayed their for 1 night with 3 rooms . We called the operator for dentle kit they came just to say why do you call housekeeping just call reception for anything. We had asked for only 2 empty plates/ dishes in the room to make kids eat their food but the hotel said they do not have this policy instead they asked for rs 40 for plastic plates to buy from them. No housekeeping staff was their on such big hotel . Do not stay their with kids or family .

The Hospitality is not good. Had the worst experience with their shuttle service. And the driver was extremely rude. I would like the management to review theor driver hiring process, as the driver driving the late night shuttle on Sat 17 June 2023 was extremely unprofessional and misbehaved with the guests. Also, the maintenance is not upto the mark. It's better to stay at some other place near the First World Resort than this place.

Stayed end may 2023. Room 16563. Refurbished room. Safe not working, technical said need at least 3 days to resolve. Hotel was full house. Lower portion of window can be open, might be dangerous for young kids and baby if lower portion of window can be easier open. Room is 2 queen size bed I think, can fit 4 adults. Also bit dusty at window side. However it was immediately rectified after feedback. Free shuttle bus from hotel to GPO to and back but before 2pm is those type of smaller van like 12-13 seaters. After 2pm a bigger bus is available. Remember to check the shuttle bus schedule. You can also find e-hailing services grab, Air Asia ride, maxim etc for short distance trip and long distance trip easily available. From hotel to peak about 14-15 RM per way. Also can get grab to being you down to KL area or KLIA as drivers do not want to go back city empty car.

worst hotel experiences I have experienced so far. Wouldn’t write story but few points below Staff is extremely unfriendly and rude. They do not have answer or solution for anything Location is odd, couldn’t get any cab when it was raining and with kids we had to wait on bus stop for 1hr plus as they started bus from bus station to hotel earlier than expected time. Basically they don’t at all care about customer. All the time restaurants and pool were occupied for some private event or min spend events. Not worth Breakfast quality and taste was one of the worst. Very very oily, bread were steal and harder and soft… only good thing in entire breakfast was freshly prepared congee, friend rice and milk with cereal. And careful on weekend breakfasts is served until 10 only so u can’t eat well or u miss it.

I had been here long time ago. From tripadvisor review, I didn't have much expectation honestly as this was an old resort. I just booked this hotel as it was affordable and my family wanted to ride the cable car to genting theme park. Plus, the hotel was near to GPO. For me, this hotel was well maintained. We enjoyed staying in the spacious room with balcony. The room and toilet were clean and the bed was cosy. There were variety of movies and cartoons to watch if you just want to relax in the room. We had dinner in Ayu Awana. The lamb kebab and tomato pasta were delicious. Thumbs up to the chef. The Victoria Sandwich was good but would be better if it was more moist. I want to give special appreciation to Sarah and Kumar for making my daughter's birthday a memorable one :) The breakfast was acceptable, perhaps would be better with more choices. My daughter loved the omelette but she commented "why the hotel only provide orange juice." The hotel provided sahur too. Overall, I recommend to stay in Awana Resort :)
