This is an unusual hotel pretty much in the middle of nowhere which is part of it’s attraction. The very rough access road leads to a large unsurfaced car park outside the attractive single story buildings of the hotel itself. It needs paved pathways from the car park so cases can be rolled. The atmosphere is calm and quiet. The design is modern and attractive. There is a pleasant pool area and there are tables for eating inside and out. The outlook reminded me of South Africa. Rooms are generally well designed and generous with an outside veranda overlooking the grounds. They are let down by having no door to close off the high speck bathroom and toilet which had a poor quality cheap plastic seat. Breakfast was very good. Lunch less so. Dinner was simple but good. Throughout or stay service was very good.

The views are simply stunning.
The feel of the hotel is a contemporary bolt hole in the middle of a national park.
The rooms are big and airy with a great outlook.
The breakfasts are so so but could be so much better.
The evening meal is good value for money.
The hotel staff really do lack any enthusiasm or motivation to provide you with any advice or local knowledge.
The cleaning staff are the ones who actually engage and seem the happiest.
The hotel currently has work on site for future developments.
The overall score would be about 7 out of 10 but could with a few improvements could increase.

Esthetics-wise the hotel is top notch, the scenery is beautiful and the swimming pool area great. Nevertheless some of the amenities were at a 3* level - the breakfast buffet (powder eggs, concentrates juice, poor overall selection) and one body/hair/conditioner product in particular. What shocked us the most was having a toilet and a bed in the same room as the bathroom area lacked door - in order to avoid smelly dreams or early flush awakening we took trips to the lobby toilet..

I can not recommend this hotel at all. Lets start with the room: the inside is cheap and worn out and the bathroom dirty. There is no door between the sleeping area and toilet, so not kuch privacy there.

Than, the location is really remote. Which would be fine if the amenities are well. But there is literally nothing to do and little to eat at the hotel. Dinner is served at 19.30, which is really late when travelling with small kids. During the day you can order salads from 12.30-15.00 and some toasts till 18.00. That’s it. And the nearest town Grandola is 15 minutes by car, on an unlit road.

The common room is very noisy and too small for the amount of guests. So you need to sign up for a breakfast and dinner slot. When waiting for you breakfast there is not even a water kettle and a nespresso machine in the room, which I think are cheap and basic amenities for hotels of these price ranges.

Somehow the pool isn’t inviting as well, there is little shadow and feels a bit sterile.

All in all, the experience was not good. The hotel really needs to invest in maintenance and some basic amenities like water kettles, nespresso machines, larger common area, more f&b options, atmosphere and maybe think about some more leisure options on the premises. Now its just hostel quality for boutique hotel prices.

The property, while quite isolated, is in a pleasant elevated position giving nice country views from the rooms and pool/main terrace, and the architecture is simple, but modern and quite attractive. Unfortunately that's where the positives end. This property has two main problems. The materials used (especially in the guest rooms) are of a very poor quality, and terrible maintenance has given the whole property a very run down feeling. Outside, signs and lights are broken, the building needs painting, and litter can be found in the grounds. Lots of the outside paving is stained and the general cleaning of the common areas is very poor (scuffed walls and skirting, and filthy door mats are just two examples). The pool and surrounding area is too small in my opinion for a property of this size. Breakfast was OK but quite basic. Yes, we stayed in peak season, but with a cost of Euro 330 per night for a double, the standard fell way, way below our expectations. This property can no longer trade on its travel awards from 2015-17 and needs serious investment and attention to bring it back up to an acceptable standard..

The hotel and view is lovely, you will not be disappointed, it looks just like the pictures. The restaurant is simple but the food is good. The staff are all really friendly and helpful. The reason I gave it a 3 is that the building and the people carry the experience but it could make a bit more effort on some detail and amenities quite easily and would propel to a 4 or 5.

We stayed at Sobreiras Alentejo Country Hotel May 2024 for a weeding near by, as a big group with friends and family (about 60 people from UK). Sobreiras staff raised to the expectation and delivered a fantastic weekend with attention to detail, support to guest and great food and ambience. Everyone loved the stay and it is definitely considering coming back for a longer period. Thank you Lucia and all the other staff for taking care of us like you did. 5 starts!

We stayed for 2 nights Friday-Sunday, and arriving we were glad to have google maps as assistance - the hotel really is a country hotel, located about 15 minutes in car from the nearest town (Grandola).

The hotel is newly build, and the reception/lounge area/ dining room is furnished stylishly and really make you feel welcome.

The room we had was a standard double room approx 20 m2 with a private patio (8m2) with a spectacular view of the landscape. The room is essentially a "small house" where you have a full ceiling height of more than 4 meter at the highest point, and this makes the rooms feel roomy, and very spacious. Two things to be aware of - the bathroom is behind a separating wall, and while that leaves you out of direct sight there is no door etc to give you that "private space". The other is that this is a (design) country hotel, so you are most definitely going to see some spiders etc as you will be in the middle of the nature :-)

The hotel offers a super nice breakfast with Croissants, eggs, bacon, ham, cheeses large selection of cut fruits and various cereals - if you are hungry before lunch, then you are the one to blame :-)
We dined in the restaurant a single night and the cooking was good for dinner as well - the card was small but offered a good selection of dishes at a price point that was well matched against the quality of the food.

Hotel has a nice infinity pool, and from the sun-beds in the lounge area you have an amazing view of the landscape - so if you are looking to unwind by the pool for a small get-away from the rest of the works this would be a perfect choice
(but do check the temperature of the pool before going in head first, it was a bit "fresh" when we visited :-)

Located in the middle of Alentejo, in a secluded area surrounded by nature, Sobreiras is a very neat and well designed spot, small scaled hotel, with a very pleasant layout - a social area that congregates a living room, reception, dining room, services and kitchen and opens up to an outdoor area that includes a beautiful swimming pool and a lounge area. Its all sort of small and cosy, but having said that even the busiest time at breakfast felt fine, as did the pool, even though not massive in size was always empty and available for a dip.
The rooms are in-line attached small houses along the property - all quite close to the main social area, and with views of the scenery surrounding us, mountains and trees in a sort of dry deserted landscape.
The room itself is quite comfortable and neatly done, love the cork flooring feel, and the minimal design, huge bed and views from inside. The bathroom is very pretty and the shower is great, some people may feel awkward since there is no actual door on the bathroom, but the dividing wall is enough to ensure privacy.
We ate dinner there and was quite good, even though we got excellent recommendations for restaurants in the nearby village.
There are tennis courts that we did not try, and you can walk through the property which is something I would recommend.

The rating could be Excellent, but then there are the little things.
We stayed for one night in Sobreiras. The hotel is brand new. It was spring, so the sorroundings were great, flowers and green everywhere. The hotel is, as the name promisses, in the middle of the countryside, with stunning views from the pool.
If You are a city person, You probably won't enjoy the multiple encounters with spiders, bees, beatles, etc. At night it's best to keep your windows closed, or the lights closed.
Unfortunately our room was very damp and had a strange smell (paint??) . There was no wi-fi in our room (very very weak to say the least), and allmost no cellphone reception.
I think the staff needs a bit more training, specially the ones in the front desk. The check in was a bit distant, and nobody asked us if we needed help, or volunteered to show us where our room was. On check out it was worse. Nobody asked if we enjoyed our stay, or if everything was in order. Just a simple cash transfer.
At breakfast the room was almost totally full and there was a big delay in reffiling what was missing. There was not a big variety of products. I think this is a key point that could be improoved. The last thing that threw me off, was that the pool was beeing cleaned during the whole mornig and as we left (at 12h30) it was still beeing cleaned (this could be done at night).
