Detailed Reviews
Stayed at Monte CabeƧo de Ouro and the first impact wasnt good. The road leading to the Monte is just terrible, full of rocks and should be easier to park the car there. The Monte is in a beautiful location, the rooms are spacious but the furniture and the room itself really lacks a renovation. Everything is very old. Also, the cleaness of the Monte should be much better. The best point of the Monte is the owner, D. Ana. She's very friendly and gives great hints on places to go visit and things to do near by.

Stayed for 1 night. Payed 60 euros for 1 night breakfast included.
The āMonteā is considered āAgroturismoā and you are in direct contact with nature. Facilities are rustic style.
Close to the town of GrĆ¢ndola but definitely need a car to get there from the āMonteā. Itās 5 km away and the part of it close the āMonteā is through a dirt rocky road.
Didnāt really feel I was in a hotel/lodge but more like renting a room at a private house although rooms are all independent. I think there were 5 rooms with a shared terrace in front and facing the grounds with a very pleasant view. Great for a beer outside during sunset. There were also horses wondering around the facilities.
Room had a bathroom with toilet. In the bathroom there is a container of soap gel for your hands and another for the shower.
Room had closet and a small tv with cable TV (NOS). A fan in the ceiling. No air conditioning and no cooking facilities nor fridge.
Our room had 2 large twin beds. Windows are small so not much light comes in.
Especially the bathroom but the entire room and facilities could use a renovation.
Breakfast is served in a shared living room which is also the reception. There is not a big variety at breakfast but all very tasty and traditional. For example got freshly squeezed orange juice, homemade jams, a cheese, ham, bread. Milk, cereals and coffee. Dishware is also in traditional clay.
Dona Ana runs the place and is very pleasant, communicative and helpful.
There is also a pool at a certain distance from the rooms (maybe about 100 m) but we didnāt end up using it (went to the beach instead ā located at about 30 km).
The facilities serve and arrange for adventure activities such as 4x4 jeeps and motorbikes, horseback riding, team day activities, etc, etc.
Free wi-fi. Wi-fi outside was ok (near the recption/dining area). Very week wi-fi reception inside the room.
Overall if you only come with the objective of spending the night the facilities are a bit expensive considering price/quality If you come alone you might feel a bit lonely but if you come for the several activities they have to offer it will be more interesting.

Take a look at theĀ pictures I posted and you will see why.
I was invitedĀ for a weekend and stayed only because it was already paid forĀ but if you read this in advance RUN AWAY!
The moldĀ in the pillows and all over the bedroom is aĀ healtlhĀ hazardous. Nothing seemed to have been cleaned, ever!Ā One of the bathrooms smelled terribly, only half of the lamps worked and in general there was insufficient lighting, mosquito nets in all windows were a joke, the dirty fan in one of the rooms didn't work and the heat at night was unbearable (over 30C), very hard uneven mattress with a gigantic dip, the kitchen sinkĀ was leakingĀ water straight to the floor and there was not even a mopĀ available...
I could go on and do not understandĀ how is it possible to charge money offering these conditions... Go anywhere else!
This is not the standardĀ in Portugal, you can find much much better for a lot less than what you pay here.
