…A Michelin guide expert being sent to paradise to inspect a kitchen, a bar, service and a lifestyle there? I cannot say for that paradise mentioned in new and old testaments – in both cases virtual with real sucrifice, but for Ozen Reserve Bolifushi I feel relaxed. Charming Mrs. Luise, the GM of the resort, and her team must be proud of their operation. GM is brave as admiral Nelson coming every morning into open and rough sea, i.e., having breakfast and a word with clients from all over the world. A complaint – no, a wish… will be heard and satisfied; some will get free speaking English classes. Human bodies are designed for this sort of inspections, do not you know? So, let’s start with backs, i.e., villas, beds, seats, sunbeds and pools. My family enjoyed Villa #216. No lawyer, even from UK, can challenge that title. Many other resorts may call “villa” any shelter which has a roof and a toilet - walls upon separate request. Villas in Ozen are spacious both inside and outside. Special applauds for the pool design which curves two walls and thus provides good distance for swimmers. High external walls along the site perimeter provide for excellent shadow and unprecedented – I’ve been to five different resorts in Maldives – privacy. A/C has two zones which have separate management, which I found extremely comfortable. My personal recommendation is to book villas on this side (##201-221) as it is less windy. Service is regular (bed dress and towels), and timely and helpful (minibar). So, once back is alright, let’s listen to stomach. Ozen has 4 restaurants, i.e., Arabic Sangu, Indian Safran, haut cousine OriginE and regular Vista Del Mar. The latter is for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Thought of Turkish or Swedish buffet? Forget those thrillers. Despite its regularity you will continue to enjoy true and top service: waiters are quick and attentive, pouring drinks and wine when a glass is half-empty, they can accommodate your special requests though it’s not in the menu. Menu is large and cooked for you – you can take few things from displays too. Sushi chef is great and everyday selection is always fresh. I enjoyed working with Santosh and his team there. I cannot recall all the names whose hands kindly filled my glass, brought meals and changed plates – big “thank u” to all. Safran and Sangu are the other two restaurants, which you can try free of charge (sorry, included into the price of your stay). At either location you will continue enjoying top service and excellent food. Shish Tauk and falafel at Sangu were one of the best I ever tried, including my authentic Middle East and London experience. Safran will amaze you with its gentle introduction to Indian cousine from all regions at one plate. Mind its size and spices. OriginE (for extra fee, but one or two quasi-free attendances are allowed) will stand out even in such a company. A4 class Wagyu marble beef will say a lot and will melt down in your mouth as quickly as an ice-cream – an experience compared with my first ever, after the graduation from the University, visit to Angus Steakhouse near Coventry Garden of London – note that my mortgage was unsettled yet. Reservations are highly advisable. Now one may think that it’s time to… Yes, I know that some people hate diets and need bites to survive between breakfast and lunch, between lunch and dinner. To continue non dietic non-stop food voyage one must occupy a strategic position, like Gibraltar, Suez, Bosfor or Panama, i.e., here the narrow area between the pool and the bar. I could not imagine that Indian street food would ideally match with “Veuve Clicquot” , but thanks to two magicians: chef Nanin and waiter Cherry, my stomach enjoyed the journey despite the prescriptions from my doctor who stupidly blessed that my trip. Sea here is deep enough to survive low tides and quiet to allow long swims. Now when and if your stomach survived, it is time to give a word to suppressed by wives and moms-in-law minority, i.e., to the liver. To be true and objective there is a shocking wine list, which may look so deep into your pocket, but relax… There is a sommelier whose name is unfortunately unknown to me and who set a decent free-of-charge lists both for minibars and restaurants. You will forget being thirsty. Quality of “free” (ales inclusive) drinks is top – my liver remembers all hotels I stayed in. Well, at the stage where your liver reached foie gras nirvana, you should not forget about eyes and brains and therefore must bring your body to the bar, which has comfortable sofas upfronting the ocean, and order old ruby Tawny. You must look at the sky conscientiously and determine scientifically whether Milky Way leads to or from the paradise. Be careful when smoking shisha – clouds might be misleading and covering true stars. I omitted welcome and farewell for a reason as many hotels now got this know-how mixing tam-tams with champagne, but… Not all hotels change, clean and dry mattresses on the beaches leaving this function to sun. Ozen does this daily. And a prefinal touch: napkins for sunglasses at the pool… A-ah! A reason to come back? As well as stylish a-la Rolls-Royce buggies… Now final-final touch. I called my lawyer, told him this story and asked if there was, in his opinion, anything I could complain about. Of course, Safran misses excellent Merlo and Cabernet from Bangalore and Sura regions to make it truly Indian restaurant. Another reason to return to see if Mrs. Luise read this review. Our second stay at the majestic Ozen Reserve, Bolifushi was magnificent as soon as we arrived at Malé airport. We were whisked away in a luxury catamaran and arrived in no time at the breathtaking island oasis with the most warm welcome, and fresh coconuts. The resort is headed up by Luisa, the GM who has a close eye on every detail, and ensures you are taken care of at the highest standard. Every luxury resort needs a Luisa, she is formidable! We were looked after for the duration of our stay by Ashveen, warm, attentive and so funny! Nothing was too much trouble and everything was taken care of for us. We’d wake up each morning and catch the magical island sunrise, followed by a run around the island, and use of the overwater fitness centre - incredible! We then ventured to breakfast at Vista del mer, headed up by Moosa which offers an array of options (more than you can imagine) and we fully indulged in the luxurious food offering. The service; was always impeccable. The villas at Bolifushi are stunning. We were lucky enough to split our stay between an overwater reserve suite with slide, and a beach reserve suite - both were beautiful and extremely spacious with incredible views. Restaurants at this resort are nothing short of perfect. We dined at every outlet and thoroughly we enjoyed every moment. The spa is also a real gem, a massage in an overwater villa with the sound of the ocean is as dreamy as it gets. A few special mentions; Ashveen our remarkable butler, and Azmi from our previous stay, were both so welcoming and forthcoming. Arey, Arjun, Chef Hari at Saffron were remarkable- they really looked after us and the food was epic! Pearl at Ozar is such a warm person, she makes the best cocktails and has the loveliest smile. John, Hudson, Lav, Caroline, Asma, Moosa, Sanik, Suhal, Siyam, Ahmed and Rich were all equally amazing. We can’t wait to see you again! If you’re considering the Maldives, having stayed at Ozen Reserve Bolifushi twice, I cannot recommend it more - even through to departure at Malé airport we were waved off at airport security. The Reserve plan makes your stay both enjoyable and worry-free. It’s truly an experience that one can never forget and having visited 52 countries, this is by far my favourite place on earth!…

I stayed in ozen reserve Bolifushi, 2 nights in beach villa and 2 nights in water villa with slide, I really enjoyed a lot when i stayed in villa I can see beautiful view in the day sun sand and ocean, at night with shining stars, perfect place to rest and relax, food here is amazing, I would recommend Vista Del Ma is my favorite, many different international cuisines, and the most I would recommend my housekeeper Asfar is really superb, second to none, his service delivering is professional, we had a great experience we definitely come back for sure.

This trip was a 7-day stay at OZEN reserve Bolufushi and we had our most wonderful vacation in our lives. All staff very friendly and I especially thankfull to my butler Ahsan, he was very kind and responsive to our all requests. Absolutely love our villa in this hotel and all restaurants!!! Amazing!

If you want paradise, luxury, fine dining etc…then this resort is for you …it was fabulous from start to finish….the food was to die for….it’s hard to pick a favourite as all the restaurants were divine…..the staff were amazing and we were treated with such curtesy throughout our stay….there wasn’t anything that they wouldn’t do for you….they were so accommodating! Our ‘butler’, Asfar was wonderful….always just a text away in case we needed anything…he didn’t intrude on our holiday at all….he was so lovely….I would recommend Ozen in a heartbeat…it was quite simply a dream come through….

We managed our last minute trip to Maldives. This trip was a 7-day stay at OZEN and we had our most wonderful vacation in our lives.
