Difficult stairs to the room. The room was extremely small, fairly grubby and in poor condition. The toilet was so small my husband couldn’t sit down on the loo with the door closed. The mould in the shower was off putting.
The room was exceptionally hot in mid summer with no fan available, we opened the window but the kitchen extraction unit was outside along with the staff break area so noisy and smelly.
Despite no sleep, we did not leave the hotel until 7am so not to disturb other guests and laughed when we met our neighbours in the street with their cases saying they couldn’t stand the heat anymore.
The restaurant below the hotel is great but avoid the hotel at all costs.
Once they arrived the manager was quite rude by telling us again we cannot sit outside even though we were told to do so by a lovely waiter
As we walked to the table the man told us that he was in charge and we cannot sit where the waiter allocated
We are very relaxed people but rudeness and coldness resulted in us simply walking away
What a shame for the chef as we were looking forward to the food but cannot write about it as we never got seated as we felt our manager would be even worse afterward
Try the food and let me know
The set menu gave four options and we all had the cassoulet with confit duck and pork, plus a green salad. It arrived within minutes. It came in individual dishes on a special board with a green side salad. It looked OK, although one was the borderline on being burnt. To be honest we were all disappointed. It was a hot mushy mess. The duck and sausage were good but the rest was just average. My salad leaves were not washed properly. The price also included dessert that was a commercial caramel ice cream in a little cardboard tub. Seriously!
Overall we thought that €136 for 5 cassoulet (that no one finished) and two bottles of wine was not particularly good value for money. This might have been better on a day why it was not so frantic, but overall we left with the impression we had been to a very average cafeteria.
I thought the breakffast was also over priced at 6 euro for a single cup of coffee a glass of orange juice, a 1cm lump of baggette a small croissant plus butter and jam
The service was always friendly and helpful and I think the pricing was about par for the area.
Everywhere was clean and I have no complaints, hence the reason we ate there twice during our stay in the area.
