reserved a table of 6 and terrace 1 hour before arrival and on a Sunday evening. On arrival, table set for a great gourmet and generous homemade cassoulet. The terracotta pan keeps warm for a second plate, it was so good that we managed to finish everything. Thank you to the people of Castelnaudary for warmly recommending the property. A little more, the boss is cheerful and humorous.

Excellent welcome by a gentleman who was also serving breakfast. The room very classic without surprise but clean.
On the other hand the lady who receives at the restaurant was quite unpleasant.
No difficulty parking in front of the hotel. We should have been wary because on tomorrow morning our car was covered with bird droppings... we would have appreciated if the staff had advised us not to park in front of the hotel it would have saved us from urgently looking for a place to wash the car and wasting an hour to start the day

Well located a 2 minute walk from the canal. The staff were welcoming and the rooms really clean with a modern feel. Great shower. Air conditioning and comfortable beds.
Really good value. We ate in the restaurant, the menu reads well but the food was not quite the gourmet standard we would expect for the price. Portions could have been bigger and the Guinea fowl a little over cooked. Still a pleasant evening and would definite stay here again for a stopover.

We chose this hotel after reading the backpacker's guide. The room is quite correct and comfortable. However, the 11-euro breakfast is exorbitantly priced because it is made up of mostly packaged products with nothing homemade. This is even below what the budget hotel chains offer. This is not at all in line with the level of the restaurant. It's very disappointing.

My companion and I booked into this hotel via Trip advisor online and arrived at the hotel around 9pm. The manager gave me a key numbered 1006 and said something in french which I didnt understand. I said I didn't speak french but he didn't say anything further in english. We went upstairs and there were 6 rooms only, numbers 1 to 6. I assumed the numbers on the key meant 1st floor, room 6 so went to that room and the door opened. The next morning, my companion went downstairs and I had a shower. While I was in the shower someone came into the room, a member of staff and said something I didn't understand. When I came downstairs a short while later the Manager said I was in the wrong room, and that I should have been in room 7. He said this in perfect english. I said sorry but I didn't know that and he hadn't made that clear the night before. I showed him the key with 1006 and said that as the hotel is very small and clearly doesnt have over a thousand rooms, it appeared that the numbers meant first floor room 6. He demanded that I pay 70 euro more and I said no way, and that it was not my fault I ended up in the wrong room, and the door opened thereby assuring me I was in the right room. He started to become very aggressive, demanding I pay more money, and came out from behind the counter in a very quick and aggressive manner. I had the feeling he was used to threatening women and was trying to intimidate me. I said to him that he was being very aggressive and intimidating and he put his face up very close to mine and tried to get me to back down. I stood my ground, and walked out the door, all the while, he was shouting at me. There were lots of other guests in the restaurant area but it didn't seem to matter to him. I met my companion outside and he was very angry about it , but we decided to leave instead of doing anything. I was shaking and upset. We pulled into the local gendarmerie where I was going to make a complaint, however I was so upset and anxious that I felt I couldnt deal with trying to explain what happened as I don't speak french, and in my experience very few people in france speak english, unless it suits them to do so. We decided to just leave and get out of France, so we drove all the way to Northern Spain where we are now, and thankfully are having a much more positive experience. I hope this warns other travellers thinking of booking into this dreadful hotel.

The hotel itself is clean enough, in a good location and has a michelin-starred restaurant. However, the 90 euro room did not have a fan or air conditioning and it was stifling hot and hard to sleep with windows open on the street. We also were told internet would work in our room. It did not. We complained and no one could fix anything.
The worst problem though was that we were scammed when we arrived. We had just come off the canal du midi after a long cycle and were tired. My partner asked the manager for a room rate, having been told by the local tourist office that the rate was 50 to 70. The manager told him there was only one room left at 90 euros. Because we were tired, we took it. We later heard one of the staff selling a room to someone else. When my partner challenged her she said there were lots of rooms left. When he told her the manager had said otherwise there was a quick conference between the two and she was told to tell us rooms had become available through cancellations. This was terribly dishonest and unethical and unlike our other experiences in France which have been wonderful.

We booked this hotel on-line purely because of its location. The rooms were quite small but clean but the restaurant provided one of our most memorable meals in this part of France. The staff were friendly and attentive and all four of us thoroughly enjoyed our choice of dinner...the kidneys (rognons) being a particular success.

A decent room even if nothing particular;a small bath room with a shower difficult to get in and a WC attached to the shower with no space for the legs. the rooms are situated on 2 or 3 floors and there is no lift. Breakfast is modest while the dinner is really excellent with the classic Cassoulet.

I cannot review the hotel accommodation, but can comment on the restaurant, which we ate at in extraordinary circumstances. My relatives had booked elsewhere (and had their booking accepted) only to find a notice on the door saying “Closed on Wednesdays” .... this was not the first time. So we went round town looking for the most attractive menu and settled on the Hotel.
The dining room was well patronised, presumably by local people, always a good sign, and the food lived right up to what a native of this gourmet town would accept. The cassoulet (Castelnaudary’s pride and joy) was right up to standard and, as always, far too generous for one person to be able to finish. The pork dish on the 3 course menu was equally good. All three of us enjoyed an excellent meal, and my two local cousins will be visiting more often in future.

The room was OK but the bathroom door was a louvre type which provided visual privacy but not sound. The room was very warm and the air conditioning unit was not easy (we found it impossible!) to operate.
We had dinner in the restaurant and the service was very poor, a group of people who sat near us got up,and left after waiting for more than 15 minutes to be even given a menu. The food was OK but quite expensive and we also had to wait a long time to even be asked what we wanted to drink. I think the two young waiters needed extra training, they were not very efficient.
Don't expect for breakfast to be available unless you book the night before, we were told -in no uncertain terms -that as we had neglected to do that we'd have to find breakfast elsewhere.
If you want good service, don't bother with this hotel.
