Detailed Reviews
Overall we had a very pleasant stay. The Staff are unswervingly pleasant, helpful & efficient. Excellent assets to the hotel!
The hotel itself is very old, quirky, with lots of Tudor Beams & Masonry & really interesting. The grounds quite stunning.
We cannot comment on Breakfast which was part of the stay, as we were too full from the previous day & not really hungry. But we did hear good reports about it.
We hear that rooms in the main building were very nice, but did not actually see a bedroom there. Our room was in the courtyard, nicely presented & very clean, but unfortunately not up to 5* standards at £200 a night we expected. Although the mini fridge & basket of payable goods were available, the only complementary fare was a bottle of water, tea, coffee & milk. No complementary biscuits (even available in a Travel Lodge) were offered.
Bathroom complements were hand wash, body wash, hair shampoo & conditioner- no hand/body lotion. Towels were good quality but no wash cloths. The bed & bedding was very nice & I slept well apart from the creaky floorboards of the incumbents above (can’t be helped I suppose in an ancient building).
The wall mounted TV was nice apart from wires visibly dangling underneath making it look untidy. The laminate bathroom panelling was chipped & peeling & an alcove there had been blocked up with an unpainted piece of stained chip board, which was not very fetching, neither was the rust staining under the rail in the shower, nor drill holes left in tiles where things had been removed, but not made good.
Overall the furniture was ok, but purple nail polish stain on bedside table & chips around the room made it look somewhat “tired”.
The kettle did not work on coming to the room, but this was quickly rectified by Housekeeping.
Overall, I appreciate that from being taken over earlier this year from Best Western, the hotel is WIP to what I hoped was 5* Karma Standards, but after staying in 5* hotels in Europe, Asia & the Far East, certainly by the standard of our room, Karma has a long way to go. From a room point of view, had this been Channel 4’s “ 4 in a Bed” program £200 B&B was not warranted & I would have said personally, £75-100 per night “value for money” wise.
I hope any criticism is taken in the constructive & objective manner in which it is given & Karma can Learn & move on from here.

I previously stayed at this hotel some 7 years ago, so I knew that it was 17th century and the quirky interior was interesting. The decor had not changed in the intervening years and some areas were looking a bit tired. This did not trouble me, though. There were a number of minor problems which prevent me from giving a good rating, mainly relating to housekeeping. To be fair, I did not report these items until I had a conversation with the manager about them when I left.
Upon arrival, I found a half-full bottle of water on the bedside cabinet. I did mention that to the receptionist and had expected someone to arrive within 5 minutes to remove it and perhaps provide a full bottle of complimentary water. That did not happen, so next time I was passing reception I took the half-drunk bottle with me. The receptionist thanked me, but there was no abject apology.
Then I discovered that the kettle was still half full of water. In the light of my previous experience, I decided it was not worth reporting.
The window rattled in the wind. I resolved that myself by cushioning the frame with a tissue.
That led me to discover that the tissue box was almost empty. When I used the last one, the box was not replaced.
The shaver light in the bathroom did not work, but that was not a problem to me. I did report that to the manager, when leaving.
The TV did not have a remote control, again it did not bother me too much but it did prevent me from accessing a menu to see what was on. At the point of leaving, we did eventually find the remote control under the bed when my wife checked to ensure nothing of ours had fallen down. during our stay.
The shower was quite pathetic (but I forgot to mention that when speaking to the manager).
Other than that, I guess it was just about satisfactory . . . but maybe I will not be returning for a third visit unless I am offered a free stay to establish whether the service has improved to an expected standard.

We have just returned from a three night stay at Karma Salford Hall, this was our first visit.
To say we were blown away was an understatement. From the moment you turn into the winding drive, you just don’t know what to look at first. The gardens are very well kept with tables and chairs they are not next to each other, there are nooks and crannies everywhere you look. If you want a secluded table you will find one.
We were speedily checked in by Peter, Karma Customer Relations. He is a very professional member of staff and goes the extra mile to ensure you stay is memorable and is always on hand for any questions or just even to share an evening drink with to pass the time of day. All the reception staff are most welcoming, we had dinner in the restaurant and the food was very good. We liked the extra touches with the meal, even down to the pansies decorating the dishes. The restaurant staff are always checking that you are happy with your meal.
We had a four poster room at the top of the building which was very big and a massive bathroom with two sinks. Everything is spotless. There is a well stocked library if you just want to sit quietly and read. There is also a very nice seating area close to reception which is under glass, with black and white tiling and palm plants which brings the outdoors in should it be raining.
We found parking very easy and plenty of spaces, the hotel is in an ideal position as being so close to the Cotswolds you are spoilt for choice where to visit. Be sure to read up on the history of the hotel before you go.
Lastly, we would like to say a big thank to Douglas the General Manager. He is a very approachable and likable person, he just wants guests to enjoy their stay and of course come back again. Needless to say, that is what we are planning on doing before too long. A big thank you to everyone we wish you every success.

We recently attended the Salford hall hotel for Christmas Day dinner and evening, on arrival we were issued with one key for our room dispute there being 3 occupants.
In general the day was a good day enjoyed by all, our enjoyment was short lived when things went very wrong. we tried to access our room at the end of the night my key didn’t work,
I went to reception which I couldn’t access due to the faulty key so I pressed the night porter buzzer many times but to no avail.
We called the phone number on the notice board again no answer.
This meant at this moment in time me and my family have no where to sleep.
My sister was in the room below us and thankfuly still awake and after a brief discussion she agreed as she hadn’t been drinking they would go home and let me and my family have her room. My sisters card would not allow us access to hotel
My wife and I shared a double bed with my teenage daughter. Completely unacceptable, I was so upset and enraged I only got about 2 hours sleep.
Christmas is a time for family and we booked in to your hotel to allow our family time together their was 10 of us together including my mother and her partner, my sister and her wife, my wife and children. This one day cost me personally just under £1000 and the whole group approx £2000 And now Christmas 2019 will be remembered for the total awful Christmas experience that meant we spent Christmas as a family apart.
On reflection on the day it’s self
It was advertised that we would revive canapés on arrival, this didn’t happen.
No festive music in our dinner room.
Service was very slow and we had no waiter service for drinks.
Turkey parcels were very dry
Bar closed at 10.00pm
We had to clear away our own table.
It was advertised that we would revive Chrismas cake after the meal, this didn’t happen
We were left completely unattended at the end of the night no staff any where to be be seen
As a regular guest at various best western hotels this was by far the worst experience I’ve ever had. we all paid a premium price for a budget experience.

We chose Salford Hall to host our engagement celebrations after viewing their wonderful marquee and being greeted by the lovely event host Elise who offered us complimentary drinks on arrival and then gave us a personal tour around to which we were then completely sold.
They were happy to meet our wants and needs for what we considered a very reasonable price for such a high class popular venue.
Having viewed several other venues leading up to this one it was the warmth and welcome we received on arrival which thoroughly helped us make our decision.
Elise was then in constant contact with myself throughout to make sure everything was as we wanted with the lead up to our date, and as an add on to booking with them offered us further discount on any room bookings to which we were happy to take advantage of.
The day of the actual event we had an issue with a no show to an independent event organisation we’d booked ourselves to come decorate and set up the marquee.
Stressing because we didn’t know what to do as it was so last minute so we reached out to Elise and Lizzie the manager onsite at Karma who took it upon themselves to find us a resolution and boy did they save the day!!
As you can see from the videos and pictures the place was absolutely stunning and all of our guests thought it was stunning!
We’d not only like to personally thank Elise, Lizzie, Sam and all of the other staff who were on hand to us that evening for being so efficient with the exceptional food, drinks, lighting and all of my petty little requests (🙈 lol) to making things perfect for us, but for the support during our actual engagement evening in making sure welcome drinks/food topped up as well as offering to take our gifts up to our room during.
We couldn’t have been happier in how they made everything go to plan.
Every single one of them deserve a MASSIVE pat on the back for the way they come together as a team to make moments like last night come together for people like us!
We are so greatful and can not stress enough how much credit they solely deserve for how they all go above and beyond to do the best to make things perfect! 👌🏼
If we weren’t getting married abroad next year we would genuinely contemplate coming back to have our wedding with you too as we know how well we would all be looked after.

Booked this place for my 40th birthday party. When I viewed several places this one stood out – upon looking round I liked the look of the marquee, which specifically had a bar within (as I wanted to cater for those with mobility issues). It wasn't until they requested (remaining 90%) payment the night before the event that they had advised me that the bar was unusable as it was broken the weekend before during wedding celebrations, but hadn’t done a thing to fix it. As I pushed for a better explanation, it wasn’t until I arrived on the day that they told me the bar was extra and, as I hadn't booked it, I couldn't have it. Some of my friends & family members have mobility issues and this was a real inconvenience, upsetting for me because I was hoping to provide a special evening for everyone & with no complications. Furthermore, I had arranged for a cake to be delivered, they managed to damage it between being delivered and serving it. They refused to accept any responsibility because "it's our policy to sign for cakes and it wasn't signed for”. So apparently it was my fault, even though in the first instance their staff should have actually told me about the policy (as no one did) and all parties should have signed for the cake. All in all, a very unacceptable experience and I would not recommend them. My memories are for evermore tainted.

The staff were all most charming particularly at reception and the restaurant manageress. The barman however had no knowledge of British Beer (no ales available) and the lad serving in the restaurant seemed to have little interest in the food he was serving. Dining is described as 'opulent panelled hall and serves a wide range of local and European dishes with the emphasis on locally sourced, farm-to-table ingredients' which is a long way from the truth. The dining room was garishly bright and devoid of any character and of the "wide range" of just three main dishes offered, what are the chances that the cod or the Halloumi were local to central England and one can but speculate on the geographical provenance of the remaining duck. What was offered however was good; nicely presented and cooked. Sound insulation in our bedroom was very poor and the only window blind in our room did not work of which the hotel must have been aware. Pretty good breakfast.

Dear jayes2812j, Sorry to read your comments regarding your stay with us. Unfortunately we were not made aware of your concerns whilst you stayed with us. We have temporary reduced menus in place which are listed on our website and advised to you in advance. We love working with local suppliers and use local, national and European ingredients in our dishes. Thank you for the feedback regarding the team. Very much appreciated by the reception team and Elona in our restaurant. We will conduct further training with the new starters you mentioned regarding the ales that we have available and a lack of interest in the food that was being served. Additionally, thank you for your comments regarding your bedroom. The blind has been dealt with and we have taken your comments on board regarding sound insulation in our historic property. Best regards, Douglas General Manager

We had a wonderful afternoon tea in this amazing building.
We were greeted immediately and shown to our table and offered coffee or tea which arrived very quickly.
Our food was delicious, the best afternoon tea I have ever eaten, the cheese scones were amazing and the cakes fabulous.
Our waitress was a delight, there if we needed her but not obtrusive, we were offered more tea and it was brought promptly.
Luckily for us my Husband has accidentally double booked our voucher so we are returning in a couple of weeks to do it all again... Hooray !! ,can’t wait :).

Our food was delicious, the best afternoon tea I have ever eaten, the cheese scones were amazing and the cakes fabulous.
Our waitress was a delight, there if we needed her but not obtrusive, we were offered more tea and it was brought promptly.

Our stay was 6th June-9th. On arrival we were greeted with very pleasant and helpful reception staff and quickly booked in and shown to our room No 23 (Superior Classic room with Garden views) Very nice room.
Our first nights sleep was ruined by what we considered to be the room next to ours No 22's bathroom extractor fan being left on which made a consent droning noise which amplified in our bedroom. We notified this to reception after at best an half hour nights sleep, Pippa couldn't have more apologetic or helpful in organising a room upgrade into the main building. The two remaining nights we both enjoyed a full night sleep.
Having read some of the less favorable reviews about food prices at this hotel all I can add is that the food was excellent and in my opinion "You get what you pay for". The service at all times was excellent, the food was quality and always cooked to our liking.
Big shout out to all the restaurant and kitchen staff. Darren you are star of hospitality and we both enjoyed coming to breakfast and evening meals because you made our stay all the more worthwhile. My wife "Pat" wants to stay again because of you. I think you are too good at what you do. :-)
I would also like to thank "Jack" in the bar area and also Rhianne in reception.
All in All we both had a really enjoyable stay at this Hotel and would return again.

Stayed one night here for Valentines on Fri 14th Feb, booked a four poster bed room.
On arrival the ld hall looked very grand but we were allocated our room out of the main old hall and in a nearby annexe.
Door to bedroom led out to top of stairs to entrance to multiple rooms so had it been busy would have had noise of any other residents entering/ leaving.
It was an old premises but despite it having a four poster bed it lacked anything special, yes fake rose petals were scattered on the bed on arrival but the room didnt have any wow factor.
Bathroom was somewhat dated and the red hot bath water came out at a genuine trickle, it took approx 45 mins to half fill the bath....
Paid £109 for the one nights B&B then went onto stay at another nearby otswold hotel for Sat/ Sun night, also B&B but only paying £138 for the two nights- far superior rooms, comfort, cleanliness and positioning, did feel somewhat underwhelmed and let down by this place, didnt live up to the price it was charging, albeit nothing horrendously wrong with it wouldnt stay again, theres much better out there.

We were hoping for a swim/sauna but nothing on site at the hotel
regards
Lesley
No, the restaurant did not an evening tasting menu when we were on holiday in April 2023,.
It is best to contact the reception to find out the current situation.
There are several taxi services locally but I don't know about bus routes. I'd imagine there is a local bus service, might be worth a Google
