Home Farm & Lodge might well be that thing that I've been looking for, without quite realising it, for the last 20 odd years: The Perfect B&B for a stay over with the kids when I'm visiting family in Doncaster. Kerry, one of the owners, could not have been more friendly and helpful. The rooms are massive, with comfy beds, couch, telly, thick oak beams and even thicker walls, which is always a bonus (as it means I don't have to worry about the neighbours being woke up by my kids WWE wrestling reenactments at 6am). But the real deal is in the detail. Fresh bread, fresh milk and juice in the fridge, decent coffee and hot chocolates for the kids, a powerful shower with gorgeous-smelling shower gel, high-end bedding and a superb mattress on the bed. We've been staying at identikit HolidayPremierTravelLodgeInns in or near Doncaster for years, having never realised that we could have been staying in the lap of luxury over in Austerfield for around the same price. Won't be making that mistake ever again!! Thank you so much Kerry and Richard for providing such a lovely Home From Home, and for making us feel so welcome. I really look forward to seeing you again very soon.…
This is our second stay at Home Farm and this stay was equally just as good as our first stay. My husband and I stayed 5 nights and can quite easily say we enjoyed every bit of our time at Home Farm. We stayed in room 4 again and it’s so comfortable and spacious. Kerry is the perfect host and can’t do enough to make sure we had enough provisions for our breakfast, even delivering the most delicious fresh bread to our doorstep. Amazing service. I can’t fault this lovely place and conce again, we will be booking again for next year. Thank you Kerry and Richard.
I have stayed here on many occasions, having chosen it initially for its locality. We just kept coming back because it is so comfortable. The accommodation - a series of self contained guest rooms situated around a garden and courtyard - is essentially self catering but with complimentary provisions for breakfast and hot drinks left in your own fridge and with an electric kettle, a microwave and a toaster ready for you to do your own preparation. All the essential crockery and cutlery you could need are provided. These rooms are actually barn conversions, so they come not only with necessary facilities but with a large helping of character and charm. Each room - or perhaps I should call it a suite - has a well fitted, full sized bathroom. Each suite also has a TV and a seating area, the size of which varies across the range of rooms available. Free wifi is provided. Ample car parking is available on the site and is offered free of charge. Several dining options are available in the nearby town, Bawtry. During all of our stays at Home Farm and Lodge, we have made the (extremely) short journey on foot to The Mayflower Bar & Eatery next door which we would confidently recommend. (As I’m writing this review during the period of the 2020 coronavirus “lockdown” - it may be worth checking the status of The Mayflower’s re-opening before relying on my recommendation.) A file of information about the local area is placed in each of Home Farm Lodge’s suites and this includes a list of restaurants which deliver. Having essential kitchen and dining equipment at your disposal also makes it easy to prepare your own food. On a personal note, when I’ve needed to be ready on time to leave for a morning meeting, I’ve used the existing breakfast provisions of toast, cereal and fruit but on more relaxed days, I’ve supplemented the breakfast with my own provisions and turned it into a truly leisurely affair! Due to the nature of the buildings, as I understand it, none of the bathrooms at Home Farm Lodge are specially adapted for visitors with mobility limitations. Accommodation at ground floor level is available, however. I would advise anyone with questions about mobility issues to contact the owners directly to discuss any needs. In addition to the comfortable accommodation, the clean air, the peace - one of the most appealing features of this accommodation is the warm welcome offered to visitors. This accommodation is an outstanding example of the “hospitality industry” where the ‘hospitality’ element is evident. To summarise: Home Farm and Lodge provides very convenient and well appointed accommodation. The facilities are cleaned and maintained to a high standard. The owners have a very warm, welcoming and “hands-on” approach to the service they offer to guests.…
A really great place to stay, with friendly owners. We stayed in room 4. A large room with a great comfy bed, nice kitchen and lounge area. A sized shower in the bathroom. The continental breakfast was a great touch in the room.
Fantastic stay was had and was warmly greeted by Mark upon arrival. Our room (no4) including the bathroom was immaculately clean and spacious. Loved the kitchenette area which included a microwave. The continental breakfast was spot on for us and loved the feel of getting up the next morning chilling out within the lounge area. The garden is beautifully well kept with seating for anyone to sit, relax and enjoy the surroundings. This is a very warm felt friendly place and would definitely recommend.
