Detailed Reviews
The hotel was incredible: not only was our room spacious with a great view, the service was superb and all the members of staff went above and beyond.
My sister and I stayed for 4 days and we had the best experience. The hotel was extremely COVID conscious and took every precaution, which we truly appreciated. We particularly enjoyed the private beach and cabana that the hotel provided as well as the spacious pool. I’d definitely recommend that you take advantage of the €54 dining offer for two meals (our dinner was an excellent 5 course meal)
Special thanks to Natacha at the front desk, Rui the porter, the Maitre’d at Aladino who gave us a superb dining experience and Jorje who manned reception in the evenings. They were always super helpful and went above and beyond at every opportunity.
I would 100% recommend!

What an incredible time my sister and I had at the hotel. Upon arrival, a member of reception and a Porter, Rui helped us with parking and then took our luggage from the car to our room which was wonderful. The reception team especially Natasha and Luis were absolutely wonderful and answered our many questions and requests for recommendations.
The pool is extremely large and felt absolutely wonderful. There were lots of sunbeds and we were able to order cocktails 🍹 to the pool side which was absolutely wonderful! We love the private beach with gorgeous cabanas and a quick and easy route from the hotel which made it a delight to visit!
Jorge at dinner was simply an incredible host at the casino restaurant. He cared about our feedback on each course and delivered a 5* experience. The live band was absolutely wonderful in the same restaurant and my sister and I thoroughly enjoyed the music 🎵
Luis at reception gave us a wonderful recommendation for a speed boat tour of the caves that was fantastic.
Our room had a stunning ocean view with a large balcony that was breathtaking and each morning we took time to appreciate the beautiful view. The breakfast restaurant also had a fantastic view of the pool and beach
Altogether a fantastic holiday with wonderful memories thanks to the incredible facilities and service at this hotel and I would absolutely recommend it!

Great location right over the beach.
But, for a 5* hotel, there are a few things missing.
Room cleaning is not that great (we had to ask for it twice in a 7-night stay because they just didn't do it).
The swimming pool is only cleaned every other day. If you add to this that, people often come from the beach straight to the pool, you will get a pretty good idea of how the pool gets.

+1
We picked this hotel due to the excellent position, both in resort and directly onto the beach. The hotel has excellent facilities, being on 6 floors. There are two pools to the rear, and well maintained gardens. You can directly access the beach from the Pool area. You get your room key card and another card which you use to obtain fresh towels for the plentyfull sun loungers. There is also a dining area by the pool (inside and out) which does drinks and food. The breakfast was also excellent - ask for cooked eggs or an omelate which are cooked to order!. Our favourite area was the bar balcony which overlooked the pool and beach areas - perfect to return too for a drink late afternoon after being out and about. There are a number of places to eat around the hotel that we enjoyed so you need not stroll far if you do not want. The hotel has a corridor next to the bar that Acceses the Casino area - we enjoyed an excellent show plus a 3 course dinner there for only 40 Euro's each. Overall an excellent hotel with very polite and proffessional staff coupled with great location and facilities. Keep an eye out as well for Laura the Parrot!

The checkin was welcoming and friendly. Parking is 2 1/2 blocks away. There was no air conditioning at all and when we entered our superior ocean view room, it was stifling. The temperature outside was high 70’s degrees Fahrenheit and it was hot in the room. We called the front desk and was informed the reason we were not able to turn on the air conditioning was that they were on winter temperature and it was not turned on. Spring has begun 2 weeks ago. We opened our terrace doors, but it did not cool off the room. We had to sleep with the doors open and no screens, so we had to swat off the flies during our sleep. Also, during the weekend there are teenagers on the beach screaming until 2:30 am so that’s when you finally can sleep. Breakfast is the same as everywhere else, the premade scrambled eggs are very bland, watery & inedible. Order your fresh fried eggs from the restaurant staff and they will accommodate you. We were just at the Jupiter Lisboa and had no problem with the air conditioning. This stay made us very uncomfortable. Can’t wait to cool off at our next destination in Madeira.

I wish I could write a good review about this hotel but one deputy manager ruined our whole experience. We were encouraged to go to a show in the hotel all week by staff and last minute we were told it was “booked out” by one large group. I understand this happens but the way in which this was relayed to us by “deputy manager” Vanda was not of a 5 star standard, as she basically blamed us for not booking it in time even though Claudio the receptionist told us that it was booked out “months ago”. She then claimed that this was a miscommunication and her whole manner was extremely condescending. This really ruined our whole experience in this hotel which was otherwise pleasant. This person really should not be dealing with people and we really cannot express how dissatisfied we are with her handling of the situation.
Other points to note - we were allocated a room with two single beds pushed together with a big gap in the middle, there was a terrible smell in the bathroom coming in through the vent. Our food in the restaurant one night was mixed. My spaghetti bolognese was terrible but my partners rice dish was gorgeous and the waiters were so friendly.
The employees at the pool and spa were top class and we felt really welcomed by then and the breakfast staff.
It was really the manager on duty that made us feel unworthy. Never again.

Response from Grupo Solverde, Gerente geral at Hotel Algarve Casino
Responded 25 Nov 2022
Dear Mrs. Danielle , First and foremost, we would like to thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback. We cannot explain how sad we are, to hear that your stay with us did not meet your expectations. We regret that you haven't got the chance to see the show in the casino, unfortunately, there was really nothing anyone could do on that matter, as it was fully booked for a private event. Since you were not able to point out which member of our staff provided the incorrect information we could not take further measures. We can guarantee that we have the highest standards of service and that our staff is eager to please, within their possibilities. We remain at your entire disposal. Kind Regards

I ordered 2 drinks at the bar and gave my room number. Drinks were brought to our table , we proceeded to go to the pool side restaurant where Luis, the barman came running down shouting that I had not paid my €6 bar tab. I said if I was asked to sign a receipt I would be happy too , he should have brought it to our table with our drinks. He leaned into my face and proceeded to shout at me, in front of my wife, fellow Customers and staff. Humiliating to say the least. I complained to the Front Office Manager. I email subsequently and asked for their complaints procedure, I still have not received it. I was advised that I should approach the booking agent If I wanted to take the matter further. So I contacted Tor Global Travel S.L. and then the ping pong really began. Apparently the barman has never done anything like this before, but the hotel did accept it occurred. So folks if you go there be warned, still alert and watch out for incoming attacks. Finally when you go to the breakfast room you will be asked for your room number, not your name, because that is all you are a room number

This hotel is trash. My travel plans got cancelled because of COVID-19, as I was not permitted to enter the country. All other hotels and airlines understand that there is a pandemic and have reasonable cancellation policies but the Hotel Algarve does not. They refused to issue a refund or allow me change my reservation for a later date so now I’m out of 4K. If I were you I would not book at this hotel especially with the rise in COVID cases

So, we were a little sceptical as we don't normally do package holidays. However, the staff at Hotel Casino alleviated our fears as were excellent throughout our stay.
The hotel has an excellent location on the beach, free beach sun beds included and a short walk to the town, restaurants and shops. Potimao town centre is a 25-minute walk, bus and Uber @ €4 readily available.
Excellent pool facilities with plenty of sun loungers that were not affected by towel hogging. We are not sun worshipers but every time we wanted to spend a few hours by the pool , there was always availability..
Carlos on reception was exceptionally helpful with restaurant recommendations, etc, and all staff we came across were helpful and polite.
Breakfast is buffet / self service with plenty of staff around if assistance required and a wide range of choice
Room was.comfortable and perfect for our needs. Towels changed every other day.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and wouldn't hesitate to return. Good value for money.
To note: we are very self-sufficient when travelling and don't need waiting on and serving constantly.
Thanks again Hotel Casino

We have stayed at this hotel about 8 times but first time since Covid. Upon arrival we were very disappointed. We arrived at about 1.30 in the afternoon and there was no one on reception nor a concierge. We had to shout for someone from the office. The person who came out did not welcome us at all and when we gave our names said our room was not ready until 3pm. We understand there is an earliest check in time but for a 5 star hotel you would have thought they would look at guest arrival times and try and accommodate them. We had been up for 36 hours but we were told to wait in bar and he would come and get us. Not even a complimentary coffee! However just before 4pm not heard anything so went to reception and he said he would check and lo and behold our room was now ready.
Went to room and was told bags would be there, did not arrive for another 45 mins. Concierge was very helpful though and subsequently so were others on reception.
The hotel has not changed much over the years but we see the effort put into maintaining it.
Views amazing, gardens lovely as are pool areas etc.
Rooms are good size but a bit dated now and worn (our bathroom door had a hole in it).
Worst thing is the breakfast, very poor quality and choice is really only 3 star at best. They really need to look at 5 star hotels for comparison. We could not drink the coffee from the dirty looking machines it was so poor.
There are a lot of new young staff and friendliness etc is like you get in a much lower quality hotel. They don’t have name badges so are probably agency workers. If it wasn’t for Jose for instance to set the standard in the restaurant then I don’t know what it would be like.
The young staff at the beach bar like Leonardo and Navneet were brilliant, being welcoming and attentive and providing a great service, as did the agency person who worked at the main hotel bar and others should learn from them.
There are many positives like cleanliness but our room was never made up until after about 4.15 pm each day (except our last day!) and really for 5 star all rooms should be ready by lunchtime for use by clientele.
I could go on about terrible quality toilet paper and worn towels etc and filthy windows on the room corridors but I think the hotel has been cutting costs and service which is a shame as it has so much to offer. There used to be a piano player in the lounge area for instance but that has gone also( the piano is still there).
I do wish they would focus on service improvement to make it feel like it deserves 5 stars as we do like this hotel very much but it just does not reach 5 star standards.
