Motel was great! It's a pity my trip to Lake Tekapo was pretty short but anyways the property met all expectations.

Room was spacious and clean with a lake views. Early check-in was not possible but I was kindly allowed to leave my luggage at the reception.

The room rate was a bit too high in my opinion but taking into the account that Lake Tekapo is a mega touristy vacation spot, the price was still lower compared to some other properties nearby.

I highly recommend Lake Tekapo Village Motel to everyone!

Hotel prices in Tekapo are quite steep, and this place seemed to be the most reasonably priced without compromising on comfort and location much. It's an older style motel, but well maintained and in a great spot. The lovely lady at reception when we checked in was super friendly and helpful, which is always a good start. Our studio room was spacious and well appointed, the bed was comfortable and the spa bath much appreciated (shower was good too). Our downstairs room even had a partial lake view (which we weren't expecting). The location is excellent, right across from the large and well-stocked 4 Square and near numerous restaurants and bars. I would stay again if passing through for a night.

This motel is in a great location in Lake Tekapo. It is just beside the Dark Sky Project, where you can sign for the various tours to view the stars. We can see Lake Tekapo from the porch of our room, and just a short 10mins walk to the Church of the Good Shepherd. There are also a few cafes right outside the motel, catering to our breakfast and dinner needs.

Room is good size, bathroom is relatively huge but location is peerless.

Only stayed the one night en route to Christchurch. Standard Motel offering, everything you would expect, clean but lacking that extra touch. Nice view of the Lake from the balcony. Little else to add other than you are expected to wash your dishes (2 x mugs...) which is a bit hard with no sink. Plus I would have thought it would be a requirement to put them thru a dishwasher?

For some reason accommodation in the district was pricey which reflected in what we paid. Had better for less on our trip around the South Island.

Pleasant lady on reception, appreciated the restaurant recommendation.

This motel is comfortable and accommodates most needs for a short stay. There’s a fridge, microwave, a few dishes, mugs, glasses, and washing up materials, etc.

There’s a portable basin for washing cups and dishes but it’s not a place you’ll cook in so it’s more than adequate for most needs.

The room was a good size, and there’s good size balcony.

It’s clean.

It’s close to the lake and the nearby cafes, pubs, bars and restaurants. Bear in mind it’s a small town on the edge of a large glacial lake.

The staff were friendly.

Check out time was earlier than we expected, ie 10 am but it wasn’t a major issue. We simply weren’t aware given in Europe check out is usually 11 am.

Lake Tekapo Village Motel is not one of the newer motels but is well located very close to the lake. We had a room at the end closest to the lake and had a view of the lake. Only a short wall over a bridge to the church of The Good Shepherd. The room was adequate and well appointed with everything that you need. Good parking and super friendly hosts. We stayed 3 nights and explored Twizel area and Mount Cook from here.

We hadn't made any pre bookings as we had been sleeping in a tent until the rain came in and we then found out our tent was leaky, so we just poped in to see if there was a room avaliable and there was 3 we could choose from. The lady who looked after us was amazing, she showed us 2 of the rooms (we didn't need to see the 3rd) and we took the one upstairs. There was everything we needed in there, 2 spereate rooms, one with a queen bed and the other had 2 single beds. The room had fantastic views, a great kitchenette with everything you need. The place was spotlessly clean. When we are down here again we will definitely stay again. This was better than I expected and better than a leaky tent.

It definitely felt like budget accomodation but with a $180 a night price tag. The bed was way to small to be a queen, the bathroom looks like it was made entirely from cheap plastic materials and the showerhead can't move and is facing the shower door, the only way to turn the shower on without making a swimming pool in the bathroom is to jump in and shut the door before you turn on the water but than u get hit with the cold water until it warms up. The good thing about the room was it was warm.

Good location, but needs a revamp
Spa bath not working, rooms were clean.
The view from the ground floor is of the car park to view the lake you have to sit on the main walking deck which is where people have to walk past to get to rooms.
Ask the lady owner if I could pay on arrival which she said would be fine, she still wanted my credit card details which I gave to her in good faith, arrived in the afternoon to find out she had already deducted our accommodation fee. Very disappointed.
The TV was only in the main bedroom, no other seating apart from the table and chairs and two outside collapsible chairs, no couch to sit on. A night in after a long drive is watching TV in the bedroom, definitely not very good.
The weekend manager was great, very helpful and friendly.

My partner and I thought this would be a nice place to stay on our way back from Queenstown. We stayed 1 night and honestly regretted it. It was really hard to find the place as there was no clear signage especially to someone who has never been to Tekapo before. Our room was extremely hot upon arrival, and when my partner turned the ceiling fan on he then had to duck a lot to avoid hitting his head! The plug sockets in our room were all loose and I didnt feel safe using them! There were also multiple cracks around the light switches and the little lights in our head board flickered on and off when adjusting them. There was mould in the bathroom around the shower, and the shower door would not close properly due to the sealing of the shower. The towels we were given had a very distinct smell of bleach. Was very disappointed in this motel and the pictures are quite deceiving! Would honestly not recommend this place and will not be staying here again in the future!

We stayed here as a couple and a 12 yr old in a downstairs room. It had one main room with a double bed, single bed, couch and kettle all in the same room. It depends on how you intend to spend your holiday I guess, if you are looking for a place to sleep and shower then yes this would be suitable but if you intended to spend quite some time in the room then it may be a little small ( there maybe bigger rooms, Im not sure) There were no cooking facilities in our room so bear that in mind if you intend to self cater.
