We stayed here for two nights for our wedding anniversary as we wanted somewhere close to Paestum. This is a fabulous place to stay. the rooms were lovely and we had a great reception upon our arrival. Our room was of a good size with a great bathroom with a huge shower which had massage jets as well as a normal shower head. The room had air con and a pair of double doors opening out onto a space with chairs and a table to sit and relax on. In the room there were chairs and a nice chaise lounge to relax on. The style was north african with all of the furniture and accessories following this theme. Parking was easy to access. Outside was a lovely terraced area with small tables and chairs dotted about either under trees or in the sun; these were where breakfast/dinner was had. A really beautiful setting and private as all tables were a bit apart so you didnt feel like you were sitting too closes to others. Breakfast was a lovely selection of cakes handmade by Susie, the owner, with juices, coffees, yoghurt and cheese/salami. Plenty to set you up for the day. On the second day we had dinner and spoke to Andrea in the morning, (Susies son who was the chef), to discuss what we could eat. As I am unable to eat some foods he discussed a range of things that I could eat and we had the most fantastic meal. If you stay here you must eat dinner one of the nights. Dinner included locally made fresh mozzarella, ricotta and burrata cheeses; spaghetti vongole, melanzane parmigiana, buffalo milk and fresh fig cheesecake, local wine and Susies homemade Limoncello. Truly a fantastic meal. The swimming pool is a lovely retreat, partly in sun or shade, with sun loungers close by and a jacuzzi. The pool is open all day; we swam in the morning and afternoon; we could also have swum in the evening if we had wanted to . Its all lit up and looks great. Towels are provided and this includes pool towels. Susie will give you directions for places to eat and visit in nearby Agropoli; we had a brilliant pizzeria recommended (pizza 4-5 euros) and found a buffalo milk gelateria. Agropoli is a really buzzing place; we arrived at 7.30 and left about 10. All of the shops appeared to be open as everyone enjoyed the passeggiata! We walked up to the castle which was open and was lit. There was even a free concert inside the castle grounds. Nearby Paestum is amazing; not too crowded even in august and we found plenty of shade and nice breezes. Take sun cream with you to top up (we forgot!) Its 10 euro entry and takes a good 3 hours to walk around using the guide book. After you can visit the museum, air con is welcome. There is a good gelateria Anna's a little further along the road from the museum.

We came to Agropoli on a weekend when pretty everything else was booked up. The pictures give it the impression that it is a bit of a party place, which could not be further from the truth. It is very tricky to find. A car is also required to travel to the town of Agropoli and the beach. GPS took us to Via Italo Calvino, but then we were lost as the place is not signposted. It is one of the roundhouses to the right about 400m up the hill, but we did not know that at took our Fiat up some very rough and steep track, still looking for that sign.... Once we'd found it, this place was wonderful. They only have three or four rooms. Trust me that it never gets crowded! There is a well maintained small pool and a jacuzzi, all free of charge. There is a little garden, perfect for lounging. Someone there will speak English. Our room was lovely, we had the Blue Room on the first floor. The four poster bed and little balcony were very nice touches to the fairly small room. The attached bathroom was also very nice, tasteful, and all done in a bit of a hippie- chic style, something I am normally not a fan of, but it all worked well in this place. Breakfast was served on a terrace, and was really nice, too. The owners are so friendly, they speak English, and will go out of their way to make you feel welcome. A wonderful place I will certainly return to.
