Wonderful 4 day break at the Pestana Alvor Praia! Initially concerned about travelling in October because of the weather...Turns out It was perfect for us! Sun every day (over 20 deg) and a little cloud for shade. The hotel is positioned on a long stretch of beach, with a boardwalk running parallel to it. It takes about 25 minutes to walk into Alvor, it's an enjoyable walk with a few cafe's along the way. The hotel is Clean and the Staff are Fantastic. There's a great vibe in the hotel, from the pianist accompaniment at breakfast, to singers in the bar of an evening. Everyone is so friendly! The hotel provided cake and sparkling wine for my husbands birthday which was so kind and thoughtful, Thank you. Special shout out to Patricia on reception. What a beautiful smile and greeting every time we saw her. Making a special point of wishing my husband a Happy Birthday on his special day was very touching... It's the little things that count! The breakfast is outstanding with a great variety and many options. Coffee was brought to us swiftly and the fresh orange juice is sublime. There's an omelette chef and a pancake chef, something for everyone! We had a room with a cracking view up on the 6th floor. Spacious balcony with outdoor furniture. The hotel room was spacious with an en suite with double sinks and a bath with shower over. Yes the room was a little dated (new wallpaper is required) but impeccably clean and practical, with many plug sockets and storage spaces. Also an information pack in the room would have been helpful. It was on our second day when I asked about room service that a member of staff told us about the QR code. But also I think it's nice to have something physical to flick through. We ate dinner in the main restaurant one evening. Unfortunately the A la Carte was not open due to the season. So we ventured into Alvor for dinner on my husbands birthday. There you will find many eating places. Along the harbour is very pleasant. And we were blessed with some beautiful sunset views. The buffet dinner at the restaurant is o.k but I would have preferred my food hotter. The quality and quantity was there though, and the wine list is extensive. We had the local Alvor White, a tasty Sauvignon blanc. We will definitely return to the Algarve and stay at the Pestana Alvor Praia. And would have no hesitation in recommending it to our friends!

My Partner and I stayed here for a week. We stayed in a sea view room and the view was superb. The balcony is a good size. Room was a good size, bed was comfortable how ever the maid service was not up to standard. Counter top under the TV and the table beside the balcony door had not been cleaned once, they were covered in dust. The floors weren't swept or vacuumed once either, I know this due to the sand on the floor in the same areas. The Card to inform the staff to change the bed sheets was not in the room, we had to ask a maid could she change the bed sheets and she asked us had we not been left a card. Breakfast not a huge selection however food was fresh. Dinner service staff were very pleasant, food very tasty! Indoor heated pool is lovely too and a great gym also. We had booked to stay in Pestana Dom Jao however they were under refurbishment, we had stayed there twice previously and loved it. We were relocated to stay in this hotel. Although positioning themselves as a more premium hotel compared to Pestana Dom Jao in reality it did not seem like the case. They are advertised as a 5 star hotel however this is a four star hotel quality and nothing more. Hotel has a very cold feel to it and it's very large on the inside and spread out, so a lot of the time you wouldn't see any staff. On two separate days going down to breakfast the staff from the Hotel Spa were handing out special discount for certain services in the Spa for those days. Everyone in front of us and behind us were handed these discounts apart from us, walking in and out from breakfast we were ignored and nothing offered to us, this happened two days in a row. This was a clear case of age profiling as we were younger than most of the other guests in the hotel. Considering we were going to avail of the Spa Services in the hotel, this infuriated us. We therefore went to a Spa outside of the hotel. All in all, we did enjoy our stay, the view and location made it for us. This is a good hotel, however a lot of work needs to be done if it is to be considered a five star hotel as advertised.

I would return but not at the prices it advertises and in hindsight I would probably re book the Dom jaoao instead as gets better reviews with the people we met on our holiday
We enjoyed the New Years within alvor to return to the bar for the DJ which was a brilliant night but had to get the music to play longer lol We all just refused to pay 150 euros each when we had it better in bar and free as it’s the bar . Fireworks were better in the distance than in hotel

We originally booked pestana Blue Alvor which is a 5 star all inclusive hotel which was newly built 2018/2019. We were recommended this hotel by a friend who had been and said it was 1st class especially for children. We booked this hotel before the Covid Pandemic. However were informed the hotel would not be open for the rest of 2020 and therefore would be moved to another 5 star all inclusive hotel Pestana Praia.
Whilst the hotel is set on the hill tops over looking the beach and only a short distance from pestana Blue 5 star it is not. We booked a superior room whilst we were given the equivalent size We r over looking a car park ! On speaking with reception staff they were not interested and not helpful. Telling us if we wanted a room with a view it would cost another 166 euros per night. The rooms are dated with mould around the sinks and showers. Carpets are stained and staff arnt helpful with no welcome brochures or any guid on how to collect towels for the pool or what’s included on the all inclusive !
U get breakfast lunch and dinner , there’s are no afternoon snacks for kids albeit there is a snack bar which they charge u for. There is never enough staff on duty at the pool bar at times we r waiting in a queue of 10 people and more ! Folk standing at the bar with no covid restrictions in place.
Not impressed so far ! We have been to many 5 star all inclusive hotels I’d rate this one a 3 maybe a 4 star at a push !

Despite going in December, weather was warm in the afternoon. All staff couldn't be more accomdating, sea view room was amazing and room service came round everyday. Facilities were great! As this wasn't a busy season, you could actually enjoy the facilities without it being over-crowded.
Thoroughly enjoyed my time here, highly recommended if you're looking for a nice, relaxful and quiet getaway!

A huge hotel, the room we had was lovely, plenty of draw space, beds were really comfy, the seperate shower was such a bonus for me loved it. the bathroom was spacious. The hotel grounds are huge and spectacular. The bar is large with some very lovely staff, The dining area is also very large with lots of tables to eat outside and appreciate the views. Loved the fact that when you went down to breakfast always a table available (inside) and you got a lage coffee pot with warm milk brought to the table. There was a large selection of food to eat for breakfast and if you wanted an omlette it was made fresh whilst you waited. There was also a pool bar which opened from 12 - 5pm which was also really good, again super staff. Overall our stay was amazing, loved it. The downside for me was the distance from the hotel into alvor, the driveway up to the hotel was very very very long and as I am unable to walk long distances it meant we had to rely on taxis all the time which in turn became very expensive. I would highly recommend this hotel, all the staff are delightful, helpful. It has a very calming feel about it. We had a fabulous time. Thank you to all the staff.

We upgraded our room to the delux suite after checking in for our first night in a slightly disappointing superior seaview room. It was absolutely worth the upgrade. The room had an accompanying living room which is huge, a dressing room and well appointed bath and shower room. It also has a huge balcony with stunning views out to sea, along the coast and across the well manicured back gardens. The balcony has a table and chairs as well as two large very comfortable and surprisingly private loungers. The bed was huge and very comfortable with quiet well functioning aircon, All well decorated and well appointed. Couldn’t ask for more. If we’d had others travelling with us there’s a further adjoining room which could then share the large living room which I definitely think we would like to do in future.
The hotel staff went more than out of their way - and treated my husband to a fabulous birthday cake and champagne when they realised his birthday would be during our stay. The restaurant and spa staff were similarly very friendly and professional. There’s a small shop by the spa that sells essentials which is handy as well as selling surprisingly nice good value local items - and is run by the friendliest lady you could hope to meet.
The hotel itself is beautiful, and very well designed . The view to the sea and along the coast is stunning but you still feel the hotel is tranquil and sat in lovely well kept gardens. The outdoor pool is lovely and a great place to relax, although it is very cold on cooler days! The indoor pool and spa facilities are great and were quiet despite the hotel being very busy.
You can walk down through the gardens to the sea, past some lovely seating areas (with large beds to lie down and enjoy the quiet and the view), and past the mini golf course. Or you can take the lift up or down pretty much straight to the beach!
The main restaurant was buffet only, which is very good but personally I preferred the a la carte food served at the pool cafe, or the bar menu, which is more limited menu wise but great food. In addition, though not part of the hotel, there’s a fantastic restaurant just on the beach at the base of the hotel, which serves fantastic fresh fish dishes and great beer and wine for very reasonable prices (although booking for evening is a necessity).
We had wonderful stay - and loved the room and hotel so much, we barely left except for strolls down the beautiful beach… can’t wait to go back

We stayed in the Pestana Alvor Praia Hotel for 2 nights. We were made very welcome by all staff. Room was spotlessly clean. Breakfast was a buffet, everyone was given their own tongs to use at the buffet station, we then put the used tongs in a container at the exit where they were taken away and washed ready to be used again. Very efficient. Tea /coffee fresh juices were ordered through the staff and brought to our table. Food was delicious. Drinks were very reasonably priced.. Lovely pool area. Hotel is practically on the beach, private gates for guests to get to the beach. Will Definitely go again and definitely recommend

We enjoyed a great week at the pestana with children and grandparents. I was a bit worried before the trip as I’d seen some really bad reviews but can honestly say this hotel ticked a lot of boxes. Breakfast was abundant and really good. The staff work really hard to clear empty plates and replenish the food. There is a great variety, pastries, hot breakfast, fresh fruit, omelette station, cold meats and pancake/waffle station. Despite previous reviews the coffee was fine! It was Nespresso which is perfectly acceptable. Obviously, people were ordering the wrong coffee I.e filter coffee which is always watered down! The staff are very happy to please and go out of their way to make sure you are happy. We asked to change rooms on arrival as we found our rooms a bit small and they tried really hard to give us what we wanted. Taxis can be booked via the reception and we never had to wait longer than 5 mins. We tried the buffet dinner a couple of nights and it was very reasonable and again abundant. The ‘only’ downside is the smoking outside which we really don’t like but it’s allowed in Portugal so not much the hotel can do. If you want a comfortable hotel with a decent pool and beach nearby, this really is for you. Well done pestana.

Beautiful hotel located 15minutes walk from Alvor village, direct access via a elevator to a stunning beach, a large outdoor pool, a lovely indoor pool with sauna, steam room and a gym.
The hotel is clean and tidy, breakfast has everything you would think of whatever takes your fancy until 11am. The bars are reasonably priced for food and drinks all be it people previously have mentioned before it's €4 for a soft drink....just don't drink them lads problem solved ✔
The views are stunning. Having come to Alvor for 15 years the unobstructed view down the beach and sunset is the best I've seen in all my years of coming.
In October we paid €110 a night including breakfast and dinner if we so wished. An absolute bargain.
