Larissa Samed is a cute idyllic resort located in Koh Samed. Providing the ideal lone time and that’s the reason why we chose it. It was not overpriced. We paid approx. INR 5500 per night. We stayed there for 2 nights.

Our room was a partial sea view and had a lovely sit out area.
Rooms were very neat and clean. Overall maintenance of the property was really good. All rooms had AC and Free Wi-Fi. They also offered discount at nearby restaurants as they did not offer food.
Property has a private beach which is slightly rocky however very relaxing. Property has maintained a little lawn space there with loungers etc. We could spend hours sitting there.

We had a lovely time during our anniversary stay and would surely recommend it as its value for money.

Why

Pros- Private beach, Solitude, Big Rooms, Sit out area, walking distance from Sai Kaew Beach.

Cons – No restaurant – no breakfast at hotel, no room service.

VERDICT

Rooms – 4.5/5

Food – NA

Ambiance – 4.5 /5

Service – 5 /5

Value for money – 4.5/5 (Only deduction for no F&B)

Larissa has very nice beach bungalows, they are very clean, comfortable and well looked after. The wet rooms are well appointed and there is also a safe. We arrived early and were able to check in straight away. The WiFi was more than adequate for my needs, checking in on line for my flight home and listening to the radio.
However I could not believe what a dreadful place Koh Samet has become, it has been completely destroyed by Chinese day trippers arriving via speed boat [from 8:30 in the morning to 17:00 there is a constant, and I mean constant stream of speed boats going past the resort]. When we walk round to Sai Kaew beach my heart sank, the beach was so busy you could only walk along the shore line in the sea, there were so many speed boats revving their engines dropping off day trippers it was awful. What used to be [less than 4 years ago] a stunning peaceful white sandy beach has become your worst nightmare and I for one will never go back.

The hotel has mini villa type rooms, each with a good-sized balcony to enjoy the beautiful foliage planted all around. The rooms are large, airy, sparse, and super clean. Bathroom size is good too, and all amenities are provided. The bed is one of the softest ones I've ever slept on. Absolutely loved it! Check-in and check-out was smooth, the staff is warm. There's a shortcut which takes you to the main Sai Kaew Beach in a minute's walk. It is also easily walkable (15 mins) from the main ferry pier (Nuan Thip). The hotel did not have a restaurant yet (which we knew before booking), but I did see some construction going on, so they could be adding one in the future, But there's plenty of restaurants on the beach, so no worries there. We had an immensely satisfactory and comfortable stay. Would recommend to all travelers.

Upon arriving at Koh Samed, we contacted the resort to seek for directions, and the staff was friendly and informative, which we eventually got there by taxi within 5 minutes (from the pier).

Though it may seem to be located pretty far away from the main street, you could actually walk to the Sai Kaew beach within 3-min using shortcuts around the area. Please feel free ask the staff for direction if necessary!

If you would like to visit the main street, it will only be a very comfortable 5-10 minutes walk, or simply take a taxi from the nearby Sai Kaew Beach Resort and you will get there in under 2-min.

The rooms at Larissa Samed was clean and spacious, and with a decent patio which you could still chill with your friends/partner when it rains. If you walk towards the seaside, you can find tables/sunchairs for chilling and gathering. Feel free to mingle with the other guests if they are up for it.

Larissa Samed is an amazing spot where you can 100% get away from your busy life and stay relaxed for the entirety of the stay. It was so chill that we did not realize that we have not taken any pictures of the hotel...XD

***I would like to specially mention the Talay Bar restaurant right next to the hotel, which is located at the end of Sai Kaew Beach. The seafood dishes and Thai cuisine you could enjoy there are simply delicious, and with sandbags next to the sea for you to enjoy a few drinks. It was mesmerizing***

I've been coming to this island for over 2O years. Hand on heart, this is probably the best place I've stayed, here's why: The views of the ocean from our beach side bungalow was breathtaking. The staff were super friendly and helpful but also gave us space. The private beach is a sanctuary when the Island get a bit too full on, yet its a stroll away if we wanted to get involved. The room was functional, spotless and had everything we needed. The only thing missing from the resort was a restaurant but hey, there's tons a few minutes away. If you're looking for paradise on Samed, stop, you just found it!

Lovely rooms in a quiet, tucked away area. Beautiful, natural setting with mature trees, plants and shrubs full of birds. Right next to a small private beach but within walking distance of larger resorts, beaches, bars, restaurants and small shops. The staff were welcoming and friendly and kept the place in perfect condition.

Rented the 2 bottom bungalows down towards the water. Very quiet place, but it is only a short distance to the center and the main beach with restaurants, massage etc
Very hospitable service, the only downside was that they didn't have a restaurant and couldn't offer breakfast, but it's only a short walk to find proper breakfast.

My wife and I recently are so pleased we stayed at the Larissa Resort on Ko Samed on a recent vacation. From the moment we made our reservation, on arrival and during our stay, the professional, friendly and helpful manager Goi and staff helped make our stay fun, relaxing and enjoyable.

The Larissa location is great because it is only a 2 minute walk to the main beach with all the restaurants, beaches and nightlife action, but they have their own beautiful private beach that is quiet and perfect for sunrises.

I have traveled extensively in ALL types of lodging and remote locations worldwide. One of the most refreshing things for me to see is when the staff treat the facility and guests, like they own the property. The service, friendly atmosphere and smiles present everywhere are a reflection of the Goi's great management of the resort. I truly hope the owners give her the support, time off and accolades her leadership deserves.

Highly recommend this property and Ko Samet.
