Perfect little bungalow with a good location next to the pier. We stayed in room 14 and although it overlooked the pier it wasn’t noisy.
Walking to the room isn’t the easiest as it is down some little paths but once there the view out to sea is stunning!

It was great to stay somewhere so close to the pier. We walked to the accomodation. Staff were welcoming and rooms were daily cleaned. Great view from your room of open water and a communal eating area right on the water. About 10 minute walk to the beach to swim. 711 and many eateries and cafes walking distance.

+1
Nice view, short walk from pier, small island, short walk everywhere. Taxis inexpensive to use, Sai Kaew beach is awesome, nice restaurans on the beach. Spectacular fireshow at Ploy Palay restaurant, must see! Also food was very tasty and affordable.

Ko Samed is an island with very beautiful beaches but unfortunately is not very clean as piles of garbage are visible in several places.
Thousands of bikes are rented but the roads are practically non-existent that consist of a variety of large holes and you end up out of a pit to enter the next hole.
Swimming on the beaches is rather problematic because a large number of speed boats reach the beaches to pick up tourists.
The resort was built on a narrow strip of rocks that goes from the rocks at the sea to a local road that almost touches the rear part of the bungalows. The bungalows are not very spacious but well organized. Being the bungalows built at the margin of the sea, the view from the bungalows to the sea is great. I stayed 5 nights at this resort and my bungalow has never been cleaned. The toilet paper was provided only on request as well as our towels were replaced solely at our request.

Close to the main pier, the villa is isolated from the main street. However, that guarantees some serenity at the rocky shore where the villa is based upon. The staff is friendly and helpful. The room is clean, by island/beach standard. The hammock at the front porch is a great feature. The AC is strong and there are plenty of cable channels to select from if you use the two remote controls properly. The wifi is stable too. The only downside is the party music from the private residence nearby during both nights of my stay. I asked the European staff about this and they said that there's nothing they could do because the folks living there pretty much own the island. So it's best not to start a quarrel with them. It's Thailand, man. I also booked a snorkeling tour with the reception (which is the bar/restaurant) and the tour was fine and on time. Chris, the young British guy, recommended the curry at a restaurant on the main street called Banana--good and cheap food! Many Europeans stay here and it's easy to make new friends at the bar/outdoor patio while sipping smoothies and beer.

Simple hotel, close to the main pier. Very clean. New shower room and the wifi was excellent. Tim the owner is very helpful and Mai on reception sorted us out with a boat trip to the local islands with a company that comes and collects you from the hotel. Highly recommended

After a long days travelling the sunrise villas were well worth the wait! Stayed for 3 nights with my partner, both 25.
Wifi wasn't working very well when we were there due to a storm- but we did not come all the way to koh samet for wifi!
Kjeats kitchen next to the villas really does have the best full English breakfasts! We also ate here on the first night & It was the best pad Thai I've ever tried!
Mosquito repellant is definitely needed but I used it every day and didn't get bitten once. My partner did but that's because he didn't put it on, on the first day.
Tv in the room was mainly Thai- again didn't come away for that.
View was breathtaking and all the staff were friendly and spoke English perfectly!
The rooms are clean & basic, with good air com. They will clean the room at your request.
Only thing that could be improved is the shower- I have long hair and it was difficult to wash with just a small hand held shower head and low pressure.
If you want quiet request a room furthest from the pier- we requested this as family had stayed here in march and gave us a heads up. Balcony with hammock overlooking the sea- amazing!
Short stroll to the beach or they will give you mo peds for small price for the day.
Had some amazing food at the beach restaurants, and a fab fire show! And live music- I want to go back now!
A tip- spend a little extra (we're talking £3pp) and get a speed boat to the island, much faster and more comfortable! We did this on way back. Took 15 mins & was fun too!
Thank you to all the staff who were so friendly & to the young girl who served us- sorry I can't remember your name but she was very polite & welcoming!
It was nice to see the local dogs/cats were well looked after :) they won't bother you at dinner either as they are well fed!
This place really is a little gem & at the moment it feels like a little secret!
See you next year!!

When looking for somewhere to stay on Koh Samed I decided to base my decisions on other people comments. Using one of the larger OTAs, I actually noticed that many of the higher ratings had been earnt by simpler properties. In the past I have also found that many middle level Thai resorts have become very complacent with their pricing to quality ration, even during Covid times.
The description for Sunrise Villas was straightforward and as it turns out, very accurate. We enjoyed a 3 night stay.
The property is simple, reception is not much more than a cupboard and the pathway to the bungalows is a slight challenge with irregular steps and angles. However, this is part of the quirky charm of this place. Squeezed between a small road and the sea the villas are semi-detached, they are simple, quite small but well fitted out. You have a terrace, small bedroom, safe, fridge, kettle and good AC. The room is simple, functional and clean. The bathroom is the same, functional, reasonably sized and clean. It is the typical Thai wet floor bathroom, but I find these practical and easy to use. For me the large bonus was the bug screen on the balcony door so you can enjoy the sound of the sea without any mosquitos.
The table and 2 chairs on the terrace is a wonderful place to relax with a drink as the sun goes down or also for sunrise.
The price we paid was great value for money and the room of better quality than many others. It is simple, yet the location is incredible.
My only warning would be to anyone with a mobility issue as the pathways and steps are irregular and if you do have any difficulties walking, this may be challenging.
Thank you to the staff of Sunrise Villas, we very much enjoyed our stay with you and will recommend to others.

We stayed in room 4 - highly recommended or room 5!
What an amazing stay this was. We were only here for 2 nights but could have stayed longer.
The room was lovely with a nice clean bathroom. The view was amazing! waking up to that on a morning was fantastic.
Sitting out on the patio area was beautiful, so peaceful just watching the boats come and go.
we ate a couple of times here and couldn't fault any of it.
The main strip is about 5 minute walk from here.
I would 100% recommend anyone staying here and the pictures on the website don't do it justice!
I would love to stay here again if I returned to Samet

on the boat over from the mainland we spotted the resort and couldn't believe how close it was to everything. including the docking pier.
it is at one end of the main strip, at the other the national park - with its sexy beaches and nice eateries.
I'm giving Sunrise 5/5 because although there are definitely improvements that can be made, I can't find a legitimate moan about our stay.
let's get a few negatives out the way:
some steep steps, may not be ideal for everyone. But if you have mobility issues you should ask where you're staying for info.
a few people have mentioned rubbish, yes indeed it could do with a tidy up - things could be put away neater and there's certainly some eye-sores, but nothing blocked our routes etc.
Rooms are a little small BUT how much time on a beautiful tropical island do you want to spend in your room...
runs adjacent to busy road and you of course hear the sirens and horns of boats.
lastly, my Thai girlfriend even mentioned it - the duvet was too warm. and she hates being cold. on night two with air-conditioner on lowest setting I still got a sweat on.
other than that, I'm quite content.
positive stuff:
friendly staff, couldn't do enough for us.
food was amazing.
view over rocky shoreline was stunning. and advantageous as it meant people weren't constantly walking past, talking, playing games etc.
7eleven and street food 5 minutes walk away.
fridge, decent shower, reasonable air-con, free water in room.
was it The Ritz? no! was it clean, friendly, reasonably priced, and great location? yes. recommended.
