We spent just one night in this lovely hotel with idealistic surroundings.
The hotel has a restaurant and bar located on the beach with reception and the rooms a step over the quiet narrow road. Check in was smooth and we were able to get our room from 12:30 which was earlier than the booking advised. The rooms are a short walk and would be unsuitable for wheelchair users. Within the grounds are trees and water features which make it a lovely setting. In the rooms they are modern, well lit, comfy beds, nice bathroom/ dressing room area and it has a fridge and coffee/ tea/ water complimentary.
Downside - the food from the restaurant was ridiculously slow with 2 of the meals not even coming out. Food and drinks prices are more expensive than the ‘Toks’ beach hut next door. You do have to pay tax to be on the Island which is charged at 200bt per person. We watched the fire show down the beach which was well worth watching.

We spent 3 nights here and had a great time. The resort is just a short walk along the beach to the main town area and other beach bars.

The rooms are a great size, nice and clean & the staff here were all very nice and helpful. The resort has a nice beachfront bar/restaurant with good meals at a really great price.
Had a nice time here and would chose to stay here again.

the first inaccuracy when arriving at reception is fine. second inaccuracy an uphill path which does not end and then stairs everywhere.
After returning to the beach. And then everything is forgotten. From breakfast to evening aperitif everything happens on the beach, the bar, the restaurant with your feet in the sand under the trees.
The rooms are clean, the room and maintenance staff are very efficient. Beanbags, small armchairs and small tables are everywhere on the beach under the trees. The beach is very clean, a small downside is the dogs, if you leave them alone they don't do anything to you, they will come to receive food and not give it.

Delicious food, efficient and fast staff:
As other people seemed to have had different experiences, let me add our experience last night. We hesitated because of reviews and when we saw the place was bigger than average. The staff managed to get us quickly a table for 8 people, came by after 5 minutes to take drink orders and a few minutes later we had our drinks and food orders were taken. All food came quick and was delicious, we mainly ordered Thai food (all of us have lived in Thailand for a few years), our only regret was that for some dishes we didn't specify reduced spicy so some dishes were spicy for some of us
Staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome, they were really nice.
Final note, we did arrive around 0830PM so maybe things were already calming down for them.

We were a little worried after reading previous posts - however we were very happy with our stay in Avatara resort. The beach is arguably the best on the island and less than 300 steps from our 1st floor room (Yes- I counted!) The room was lovely, there’s not a great view from the windows, however the room was clean, well maintained and felt nice and spacious. They even decorated my room beautifully for my birthday! I had read many reports about the ‘long uphill slog’ to the rooms, and I agree if you are old/unfit/disabled this could be a problem however it wasn’t half as bad as expected. As I said -200 walking steps from the beach and up a slope and then some steps up to the various floors. I’ve definitely had much worse! Food at the resort was all lovely, especially as you eat right on the beach. We never had problems getting seats/bean bags on the beach either where you had good, but not intrusive bar service from the staff. In the evening the beach bar/restaurant looks magical too as it’s transformed with lighting. The resort is just a short walk in either direction from many bars and restaurants and we walked 3/4 of the island on foot, which is how I know it’s one of the best beaches. (Others were beautiful but seemed to be teeming with tiny crabs, unlike our beach.) Be prepared for staff not to speak/understand English and to pay in cash, not card. (Exchange bureau and cash machines near the port) We would definitely come back to this resort. Oh, and the fire show is amazing, which can be seen most nights at all the resorts.

A terrible hotel, first of all, the air conditioner in the room is terribly loud, it’s like a kettle is boiling all night, for some reason there are panoramic windows in the toilet that need to be closed with dirty blinds.
2. We don’t have our own sunbeds. As it turned out, you can’t occupy the bags and tables at the restaurant where breakfast is held all day. They kicked me out in disgrace when I went to have lunch, left my towels, and when I came back there were 2 gay men sitting on my blue towels and drinking beer 🙄 I had to leave to look for a sun lounger on a nearby beach for 80 baht.
3. Prices are very expensive. I was forced to pay extra money for food that I did not eat or drink! But since I was late for the boat, I had to pay!
I do not recommend this hotel at all!

Very dissapointing, this is not a Resort Hotel and does not have resort facilities. Outside areas in need of restoration, old & tired. Only stayed one night of the four booked. Customer Service apalling as tbey have refused any refunds of the unused nigjts.

We stayed at the hotel at the beginning of December in room 2308. Every night we could hear an animal in the wall and ceiling (probably a rat). By some miracle it got to the walls which are made of plasterboard and was running up and down, biting and making strange sounds. It didn't bother us from falling asleep, but every night I was afraid that I might wake up with a rat on my face. Unfortunately, that wasn't the worst. WE WERE ROBBED. After returning home, we noticed that we were missing several shirts, pants, sports towels and even bras! It's a pity we didn't pay attention when we were there, but who would have expected it?! They probably took several things during their daily "cleaning". We contacted the hotel and they had a very dismissive attitude and did nothing about it. We DON'T RECOMMEND this hotel! We have learned a lesson for the future and will always leave our things in a suitcase with a lock.

The hotel is okay if you like a kitchy lifestyle. There are some adjacent buildings under construction which were being used as rubbish dumps and covered in green tent. As much as there is so much room in the bathroom, sadly there is no private space where one can hang a bikini etc.
The beach is wonderful!!! But the staff in the beach bar were disinterested and most of the time involved in their cellphones. It took sometimes ten minutes for a staff member to bring the drink menu.
Or when one placed an order, it somehow never came,,, so we decided to move to the next restaurant for our drinks or food.
I would never recommend this ever!!!
I should just have booked next door!

This hotel was really nice! The actual hotel was so pretty and our view from our bathroom was insane, felt like I was in the forest. I slept really well and beds were comfortable. Is literally right across the beach and the restaurant is on the beach. Just really nice and good location. They also sorted bikes for us.

You better take a motorbike if you want to see the whole island, although taxi service is available at reasonable prices if you don't want to go on a motorbike. Island is very safe for motorbike traveling, lot's of speed bumps and the locals don't drive like mad men like on the other Thai islands. Motorbikes cost around 200/300 THB for a day.
