We stayed here middle of August as 2 families with teenage children. It was a stopover as we were travelling further up into Scotland.
So good first:
Check in was swift. Lady on reception was lovely.
Nice surprise we booked a family room (1 adult. 13 year old, 17 year old and 19 year old friend) when we went up stairs we have two seperate bedrooms sharing one bathroom which was ideal for the older children.
Rooms are basic but clean and tidy.
Breakfast was basic but good, not alot of selection but adequate for us.
Not so good :
Car park is around the back of the hotel, you have to walk around the front even though they have a function room at the rear, 2 flights of stairs, no lift or help, not ideal for the less able.
Other staff were polite but not particularly friendly, Food selection for a evening meal was poor, all a bit like snack food, if you want a meal go to the Hotel opposite Queensberry, had 2 lovely meals there.
You are above a very popular pub so don't be fooled you can hear it till the early hours. Not great if you want to get some sleep!
Location - nothing to do, Town is a little tired and not much going on. Nice fish and chips shop down the bottom of the town, but not much else.
Overall ideal for 1 night stop over to break up our journey but wouldn't stay here for any other reason that than, clean basic hotel with basic amenitites but clean and tidy.

Having been brought up in Annan 20yrs ago and come back to visit with a family of 7 I booked The Corner House largely because it was reasonably priced for the size of the group/family. Its been done up since I lived here, and although not a 5* place it's clean, good facilities and the staff were all really helpful.

The only down side for us was that there is a bar underneath or nearby called The Shed and it was open until 1am, the music was really loud and could be heard despite the windows being closed. But that said none of the kids were kept awake.

Breakfast is £5 or so as an extra, but its a full Scottish breakie (bacon, lorne sausage, haggis, egg, tattie scone and beans with as much toast as you want), and there's plenty of apple/orange juice and cereals etc.

Overall this is good value for money, beds were comfy and clean, can't grumble. I'd stay again.

My group of people went to the cafe/restaurant inside the hotel and we ordered drinks ( coffee, latte, tea, hot chocolate ect.) the Chef came over and asked why one of the hot chocolate's didn't have marshmallow's on the order. (one member is vegetarian) he was kind of questioning us in a pretty much cheeky and unpolite way.
Later the drinks came and they were either cold, the chocolate in the hot chocolate was not stirred in properly or even the milk for the tea was spoiled.

What can i say about the corner house hotel in annan.  When we arrived for a 2 night stay, we got to our room to find the generator for the kitchen and a lovely view of a brick wall right outside of the room (room 101). I asked straight away to swap rooms which was told no more rooms were available. So that noise continued until 8pm, it then started again at 6.45am the next morning.  2nd night, the generator was the least of our worries. We were greeted by chanting/singing/banging/shouting. Apparently annan fc were playing and we were right next to the bar/beer garden.

This was a delux room, a little bit of an upgrade to the standard, we found the windows cracked, wiring in the bathroom with no cover on, window doesnt open in bathroom, very tired room with bird poop all over the windows. I know the hotel was built in the 1900 but a little paint, windows cleaned, underlay under carpet, even a grout pen in the bathroom and change that room to standard or even use it as storage as this is no where near a delux room. We decided to leave around for home at 7.15pm as the footy supporters had been going on for 2 hours at this point and the match didnt even kick off until 7.45,  we did go to reception to hand the key in before we left and waited 5 minutes with no one in sight so the keys were left on the bed in the room.

I did email the hotel/hostel who replied with excuses and an end note saying:  Sorry I wasn't able to speak to you in person and I hope you enjoy your next stay away at another hotel.

Customer service at its best

Hello Terry, I can only apologize that you were unhappy with your stay with us, I do not think anything I could say or do would change your mind on how you felt about the stay; however I have read your email and feel you deserve a response. Due to being in the peak of the summer holidays we are very busy as a hotel, our rooms are fully booked pretty far in advance so unfortunately we were unable to move this room on arrival; there would have been nothing we could have done to move you. Our fan is on during food service times, which you have stated in your initial email, between 7am-8pm; this is correct. Again, unfortunately there is nothing we could have done to change this as we need to have this one whilst cooking. As for the external noise from the bar and football fans, this is completely out of our control. I can imagine for any town/ city if there were any football game on you do get some supporters 'chanting/singing/banging/shouting' fans haven't been able to go to games for well over a year due to covid, i am not trying to make excuses for them however do understand if they were excited before the game. We were in the process of working on our rooms before the covid lockdown and between the two lock downs, unfortunately we cannot do all rooms in one go and for obvious reasons were unable during lockdown to carry on working. Opening back up at the end of April the same with any hospitality business we have been non stop, I will pass your comments on to the owner of the hotel - we do take guests comments very seriously and will hopefully have this room done in the upcoming months. Sorry I wasn't able to speak to you in person and I hope you enjoy your next stay away at another hotel. This was my initial response, as stated at the start of my response that there would have been nothing I could say or do to change how you felt about your stay and felt you deserved a response - We pride ourselves in customer service and I replied to the best of my ability in this situation. - Christine, Assistant Manager

Hotel Reception is on the first floor and accessed by two flights of stairs no lifts or disabled access. Car Park at back of building with no access to the hotel so you have to walk up the street to the hotel entrance. Our room was a very small double with only one small uncomfortable dining chair to sit on that had seen better days. Small windowless bathroom with an over bath shower which was quite unsafe, handrails on side of bath but no handrail on wall. No draught beer in the bar only overpriced bottled beer. We chose the breakfast option and that was a mistake, first morning opted for the Full Scottish Breakfast, Haggis, Sausage & Bacon, and Potato Cake all looked and tasted like they had been cooked hours earlier and kept in an oven, fried egg was solid, the next day we tried scrambled egg which was tasteless and poached egg on a toasted muffin again the egg was solid. Breakfast was not worth the extra price. The only good thing we can say is the location on the High Street offers a good choice of places to eat if you are fit and able enough to keep going up and down the stairs. The staff were polite and pleasant.

Hi Jan thank you for taking the time to leave us a review, I am sad to hear you were disappointed with your breakfast as this is something we get such high reviews about, I can confirm our breakfasts are fresh and made to order - I will pass on the comments to our kitchen as we take all guest comments very seriously! We do advertise our reception and rooms begin on the first floor, being a listed building a lift is not an option for us I am afraid. I also apologise you were not happy with your room, we would have tried everything to get you moved if notified as this would have been one of our standard rooms we would have got you a free upgrade to a deluxe - however with it being summer months we have been ever so busy and is sometimes not possible. We are glad to hear you enjoyed the location and our staff had a positive effect on your visit! - Christine

I come from Annan but moved away 40 years ago. I have been back to Annan a few times over the years and stayed in various hotels around the Town .
This is the fist time I have stayed in the Corner House Hotel . It’s Location is bang in the middle of the high street close to all amenities Annan has to offer.
You go upstairs to the reception which is also a coffee bar and visually pleasing, with views out to the High Street. This area is staffed till 11pm . So for a coffee or a light drink this is perfect.
The room I had was a twin as my son decided he wanted to come up as well and he being to tight to pay for his own room. There was plenty of space for both of us and the room had an on suite bathroom with over the bath shower. There was Tea making facilities and an Iron and iron board supplied . The room was spotless being cleaned daily when we stayed.
The Staff were attentive and interesting especially Lisa ,what a lovely person.
There was entertainment on the Sunday night that was a one off very entertaining and was fitting for a great weekend. I will be staying again and recommend the Corner House Hotel to others.

The Corner House Hotel in Annan describes its rooms as deluxe on the web; I was not that impressed and think the rooms are more standard than deluxe; see the images attached and please make your own mind up.

The location in the heart of the town was very good, the hotel is located on the upper floors of a building on the main town street, yet this does mean that you have to use stairs to the reception and rooms; there is no lift.

What was inexcusable and very lacking during my stay was the use of bed linen that had not been ironed, the Wi-Fi not working, a dirty towel, and missing channels on the television together with no curtains only an ill-fitting blind.

Expect noise from the street which is to be expected as you are in the centre of the town.

The hotel fell well short of my expectations however the owners and managers believe that they have a deluxe product, refusing to see my point of view in correspondence with them.

Cheap and cheerful, we needed somewhere quick for an overnight stay before a wedding at Gretna Green as our main hotel was fully booked for an extra night.
Rang corner house and got a room straight away the night before, basic clean room, the building is old and beautiful from outside.
We had a lovely warm welcome from Christine who introduced herself and stated if we needed anything at all to just ask, we needed an iron and one was provided promptly with an ironing board, she even came to our room and asked if we were happy and if we were not she would change our room!!! We were happy
Sports Pub with sky and outdoor beer garden right below. The manger was also chatty and welcoming.

Here now 😭😭 Don't come here if you've had a long journey and want a peaceful night. Rooms are above a very noisy bar with live music blaring.
Went to reception to ask to change rooms and the best they could offer was earplugs😭😭
Maybe you should warn people when they book that sleep will be impossible until the early hours 😭😭
Certainly won't be back.

Firstly, thank you for taking your time to leave us a review. We are very sorry to hear you did not enjoy your stay with us. The hotel is located on the High Street so noise is unfortunately unavoidable and out with our control. However, on our website, it clearly states that there is potential for noise, especially at weekends. We offer complimentary ear plugs for this reason. As a family run hotel we pride ourselves on customer satisfaction and always try to resolve any issues as they occur, however sadly we could not offer an alternative room on the evening of your stay due to us being fully booked. We hope you will reconsider visiting us again,

I popped in here last Sunday afternoon after an enjoyable 2 hour walk in Lochmaben 12 miles away to take in Kirk Loch, Lochmaben Castle ruins and Castle Loch. My cousin and his wife knew it would be open all day.

I was surprised to find that Scottish Breakfast was still being served so jumped at the chance to try one out even though it was 3.30 in the afternoon. The service was friendly and brisk so we didn't have long to wait to be served our drinks and then shortly after our food (they had ordered paninis with chips which they both seemed to like). My breakfast consisted of bacon, fried egg, baked beans, pancake, haggis and lorne sausage which I'd never had before (a kind of flat sausage slice). All extremely tasty and the whole meal was not particularly pricey either.

So I would wholeheartedly recommend this venue if you are ever in Annan and in need of refreshment. Judging by the number of people who were checking in while we were there for around an hour, it is a popular place to stay too,
