Detailed Reviews
We did a 1-nighter stopover here on a long road trip. Parking is outside on the street which was OK but do watch out for the boy racers tearing down the road. Simple check-in and the owner showed us to the room and provided info. Our room was traditionally decorated (old, dark wood furniture and high ceilings) with a small ensuite shower room / WC fitted into one corner. Wifi worked OK and the bed (UK queen size) was comfortable. No disturbance at all during the night from outside (our room was at the back of the house). Breakfast is served between 8 and 9 am in the breakfast room downstairs and was very tasty.

We were welcomed by the owner for our one night stay. Helpful to provide tips re dinner, asked about dietary requirements and I was allowed to use the nice breakfast room for an hour to read after I checked out. I noted copious sockets in the room with USB charging - always useful.. Breakfast was very good. Hot, freshly cooked food, good quality bacon and sausages, and a healthy red berry smoothie.
Several local restaurants are closed on Monday and Tuesday for supper. Local museum closed till 1st April I believe. Worth noting that on the map it looks like a side road but many vehicles do use it. It was not noisy as such but traffic noise is heard throughout.

2 nights at The Old Rectory provided much-needed sanctuary during an ambitious 2-stop Christmas visit! Our lovely big ensuite room was warm, cleanand quiet, with a comfy bed, tv and blackout curtains. We enjoyed a quality

Response from David Buckel, Owner at The Old Rectory
Responded 14 May 2023
I'm sorry you feel so harshly treated. When you booked the room through booking.com you were made aware that it would be non-refundable under their terms. We understand you made a mistake on the date but this did not come to light until 10.15pm on your arrival date, when I contacted you to enquire your arrival time, by which time there was no chance of reletting your booked room. You did request another date but It was not possible to move your reservation as we were already fully booked. To say we did nothing for it belies the work that goes on to prepare a room and the wait all afternoon and evening for somebody who doesn't arrive. We prepared and held the room for you in good faith that night and turned away another booking as we thought we were full.

The review is based on a one night stay.
The room was tidy but it's contents looked jaded. The bed had an old quilt covers that was barely adequate to cover the bed. The water flow in the shower was dire, taking several minutes to get wet. No toiletries provided. The radiator was lukewarm and no adjustment would make it warmer.
At breakfast no fruit juice was provided. The cooked breakfast was good, however the dining room lacked warmth. Ultimately, my stay could have been more comfortable .

Easy last minute booking. Minutes from the A75. Friendly welcome and attentive host. Comfortable room, reasonable shower and excellent breakfast. Room at the front and traffic noise no issue whatsoever, but depends what you’re used to. Good value. On street parking right outside. Very short walk to town centre restaurants and pubs. Would recommend.

Hi. I’ve just returned from a wonderful stay at The Old Rectory. A spotless room with a comfortable bed and a decent shower. Two minutes walk from the town centre. The breakfast was brilliant and the welcome and service was perfect. Thanks 😊

+1
We'd had a long, boring drive north from Stratford-upon-Avon, and a mediocre dinner amidst gorgeous scenery, so it was with mixed expectations that we arrived at The Old Rectory... And it turned a day of mixed results into an unqualified success! It is a beautiful old house on a tidy, pretty street, quiet but with easy access to the highway.
David helped us get settled and provided that personal charm that makes places like this so special.
I slept like a log, and the breakfast was excellent. We'll return to the Old Rectory 😁😴😴😴
