Built in a small, picturesque bay on the shores of Lake Garda, with a small port and rooms with a view of the lake, the Fornaci Hotel is suitable for families, romantic couples and people who wish to enjoy the pleasant atmosphere of a peaceful and relaxing holiday. The hotel is close to the centre of the town of Peschiera (2 km) and is not far from the Gardaland entertainment park and the motorway exit. Its most distinguishing feature is its position, which makes it the starting point for many scenic walks on the lakefront that end in pedestrian areas. The building and facilities have recently been renovated but the hotel remains the family-run business it has always been, offering its guests an informal, welcoming setting, where full attention is given to individual needs.

Instead of staying in Milan after arriving at Malpensa airport, I decided to take the train to Peschiera del Garda and spend my first night in Italy on Lago di Garda before heading on to Verona. I had no idea what to expect of the Hotel Fornaci, which I booked through its internet website. What I got for 80 euros a night was a perfectly spotless room with a lovely view of the lake in one of the very quietest, least-developed and old-fashioned corners of Lago di Garda. The hotel sits opposite a tiny, charming fishing marina, at the far end of town. You need to take a taxi to the hotel if arriving by train, but the slightly removed location makes it worth it. There are several bars and pizzerias within easy walking distance. There is a nice long promenade along the lakefront that takes you to the heart of town and the ferry dock. (For long stays, it would be fun to have a bike). If you are looking for peace, a lovely view and a warm welcome, the Hotel Fornaci provides it all at a very reasonable rate.

A nice small hotel near the Lake - you have a wonderful view over the lake. The rooms are clean. It is quite, free parking, dog friendly, great swimming pool, kind service. Restaurants are near by. Price performance ratio is just right.

Myself, my husband and our 7 year old stayed in a triple room for 9 nights. We found the hotel to be clean with friendly staff. The selection at breakfast was very good. You will need to rent a car if you stay here, as the town is at least 30 mins walk (not easy in the summer sun). There is however a small supermarket in the nearby camp site where you can find most essentials. Unfortunately there is no restaurant in the hotel but there is a snack bar within a 5 minute walk. Drinks were expensive at the hotel when compared to the two local snack bar/restaurants. The Wi-Fi connection (1MB) was very poor the signal continually dropped. However the snack bar had free wifi also which was much better. All in all, we found the stay very pleasant away from the hub bub of the town yet only a short drive to Sirmione & Peschiera.

Terrible hotel. When we arrived the receptionist told us to change rooms during our stay. We had booked 4 nights and we had a dog with us. It is not optimal for us to change rooms as it is stressful for the dog, especially when the stay is so short. We were told that it could not be changed and that we could not get a discount. Then they told us to call booking.com, which we booked through. I call booking while we are at the hotel and the agent calls the hotel. They call 3 times and the phone is not answered. My boyfriend goes in and asks the receptionist to answer the phone. It still doesn't happen. We go back in and the receptionist says we can find another place to stay if we want. We would rather do that and we agree that we do NOT have to pay anything, as it is the hotel that has made a mistake. The hotel says that they will cancel the booking the same evening. 10 minutes after we have left the hotel, they write to us that we have to pay anyway. They reject our request and cancel (despite the fact that we have made an agreement). The hotel has not responded to my request since then. Booking.com has tried to reach the hotel several times and they still haven't gotten back to me. All this happened a month ago. The hotel has charged all the money for the 4 nights so now we are almost 5000DKK poorer, for a stay we have not been on and was not what we booked. They have also marked us as "no-show" in the booking app. Absolutely terrible experience and we would not recommend anyone to stay here.

Great breakfast, view from the balcony over Garda lake and very helpful staff! Will definitely come back. We came later for check-in but nice lady at the reception waited for us. Calm atmosphere, friendly people and lovely location right next to the beach. Very chill out vibes. Greetings from Slovenia

My husband, 2 teenage daughters & myself have just returned from spending 9 days at this delightful hotel, which felt more like a home from home 😊 Rooms were comfortable, clean, spacious & air conditioned. I looked forward to breakfast every day - delicious & so much choice. The swimming pool was fantastic - spotlessly clean & maintained to the highest standard, as were the surrounding garden & pool areas. The heart & soul of this fabulous hotel is the truly wonderful owner's husband Remy, who works tirelessly to ensure that your experience at Fornaci is special; he made such an impression that we can't wait to go back as soon as possible! Great value, beautiful, quiet location...do go and visit, you will have an unforgettable holiday 💜

We booked this hotel based on the Trip Advisor reviews for the last 2 nights of our vacation and unfortunately it ruined our previously amazing trip. The location is not very good, far from the centre of Peschiera - no 40 minute "stroll" as advertised.
We arrived early and they seemed to be in total chaos quite full with many guests leaving. So the owner's son-in-law asked us to come back later, complaining about his staff being ill and inept, which should have set off alarm bells, but since we had pre-paid we had no option. It started raining so after an early lunch we returned to find our room still not ready. Eventually we were able to check in around 2pm. After paying the city tax we were given our key and no other information about the hotel. We were horrified to find that our 2nd floor room was not as advertised on Booking.com website 17m², but around 10m², tiny and clastrophobic with no view of the lake and no balcony. It was facing the back of the hotel so to keep cool the shutter had to be closed. We asked to change rooms and were told that we could pay extra for a larger room but it was only available for the first night. After the debacle of waiting for a room the first day, we decided to put up with it and try to spend as much time outside as possible. It was then galling to see that you could still book rooms through Booking.com and there appeared to be 2 rooms with balconies which were not occupied.
Despite being advertised on booking.com as a dog friendly hotel "Charges MAY be applicable" they seemed to be put out we had a dog. We explained that usually the dog sleeps in the car, but there was no shade to park our car, we couldn't leave the sunroof and windows fully open due to the intermittent rain, so the dog had to sleep in our room in the shower area since there was no space anywhere else in the room.
On the 2nd evening we returned around 10:30, put our dog to bed in the car and when we collected our key the owners daughter asked us to pay for our previous day's drinks, then went to our room. At 10:45 there was a phone call and it was the son-in-law asking us to come down to reception. He then started barracking my husband about the dog and requested payment, so my husband had to go back to the room to collect his credit card. We pointed out that the dog was in the car and he started shouting at us about "my house, my rules" and was generally very unpleasant, which did not make for a good night's sleep. The next morning he avoided eye contact and we left as soon as we could.

Response from HFornaci_Direzione, Proprietario at Hotel Fornaci
Responded 23 Aug 2016
Dear guest, we are so sorry and surprised to read these words and your bad review, it's really in contrast with the general positive feeling about us and our hotel for this season 2016. Anyway, having said that, we apologize for any misunderstanding that might have appeared rude to your eyes: this review gives us the opportunity to underline and disclose the following facts, hoping that everybody can read and understand our point of view and our way of managing our hotel: Hotel Fornaci is a small family managed hotel, if you find "chaos" at the reception it's due to the High Season, we just need some time to accomodate everybody, if someone expects the quick (and sometimes impersonal) response of a big hotel... there are plenty of "grand hotels" :-) We are at 40 minutes walk (and 7 minutes drive) from the very center of Peschiera, how could we possibly lie about it? It's written everywhere, not just on our official website, you can easily see this on the various maps too: you could either choose to walk or reach the center by car. We are very sorry it was raining the day of your arrival but there's nothing we could do about it, and our check-in rules are clear on every website (after 2pm), your room before that time was not available. Our double rooms are ALL the same size, we are in high season and the Hotel was fully booked concerning the double rooms, we can guarantee there was no larger double rooms available then. Hotel Fornaci is a fully dog friendly hotel, as anyone can testify, we allow dogs of every size and, according to the size, we decide whether to apply a fee for the dog in the room. You said your dog was sleeping in the car, we saw the dog coming out of your room after the first night (ok, outside it was raining... but your dog slept in the room without us knowing) and we simply asked you to pay the extra fee. We were not "put out" you had a dog, we were maybe surprised he slept in your room without you telling us. In the end, in our opinion the main issue that caused your unhappy stay was your early arrival in a rainy day which as you write, "should have set off alarm bells"; as a new management we will learn from this situation, and try to prevent misunderstandings in case of early arrivals in rainy days! Best Regards Hotel Fornaci Staff

We booked this hotel based on the reviews in this website. We booked it for one night on our way from the Dolomites to Milano. I must say it ruined my up to this moment amazing vacation. The location is horible, looks like the slums of lago the garda very far from the center of Peschiera which for itself is nothing to write home about. The room we received was tiny and clastrophobic . Every time one of the guests was doing a shower we could know about it because the pipes somehow went through our walls . Everytime one of the guests stepped in the corridor we could also know about it beacuase the walls were probably very thin. The room walls were painted in yellow while the shower cermaics were painted in horible blue. The shower has only one curten to separate it from the rest of the bathroom and the result was a flooded bathroom after one of us was taking a shower.

The Fornaci is a small hotel about 2 miles from Peschiera del Garda on Lake Garda. It is a well maintained modern hotel with a nice pool and gardens. The pool is meticulously cleaned every evening and the garden is neat and tidy. Our room was smallish but with a balcony with a great view of the lake.

Staff were friendly and helpful.

Breakfast is usually served on terrace in front of the hotel and there is a good choice of things.

The distance from Peschiera is a bit of an issue as there are not many restaurants close to the hotel. The walk is along the lake side and is a pleasant walk but takes a good 40 mins.

Answer from HFornaci_Direzione
Peschiera del Garda, Italy
Dear Florina, thank you for your kind question! Maybe the Location page on our Official Website can help better than any further explanation :-) Peschiera del Garda and the surrounding area The Fornaci Hotel is 2 km from the centre of the town of Peschiera del Garda (VR). A 40-minute walk will get you there. The Santuario della Madonna del Frassino (Shrine of the Madonna of the ash tree, XVI century) and Peschiera’s historical centre are worth visiting. There are enchanting towns quite close by, such as Desenzano (16 km), Verona (32 km), and Mantua (55 km). The Gardaland entertainment park (Castelnuovo del Garda, Verona) is 4 km away, whereas movie attractions such as Movieland are only 6 km away, as are medieval wonders such as the Scala Castle in Lazise sul Garda, Villa Pergolana or the many Veneto Villas which can be found in the area. Looking forward to welcome you in August! Best Regards Ciao Hotel Fornaci Staff
