We stayed here for a week July 2021. 3 Adults and 3 Kids (16. 14, 10). We stayed in 2 x double room which were spacious and clean, we had a really good relaxing week and the weather was fantastic (40+). It’s a lovely hotel spread out around a large area so there is plenty of space and you don’t feel crowded. There are several pool areas to choose from some lively and some quieter. There is plenty of stuff to do in the day (pool, water slides, lazy river, activities ran by reps etc) and all the staff are amazing and couldn’t be more helpful. The buffet breakfast was very good as was the snack bar, the buffet lunch was good and the buffet evening meal was average but we always found something to eat. We found the evening entertainment a bit boring and thought it was aimed at younger kids so we just went to the Irish bar and played pool or just found a quiet spot for a few drinks. I think this hotel is a really good 4* geared towards families with younger children and ideal of you want a relaxing break in the sun. They do amazing with keeping the guest safe during COVID and the staff are some of the friendliest I have come across. One big improvement that could be made is the quality of the larger - I found it weak, flat and watery but the cocktails were good.

This review is from a perspective of a family of four with children of the ages 6 and 8.
The Atlantica Ageon Blue Hotel in Rhodes, Greece was booked as part of a package deal through the tour operator Tui.
This is a good hotel and perfect for a family with young children. I would classify the hotel as a 4 star if I compare against other 5 star hotels I have personally stayed in although I’m not familiar with how the rating process is applied.
This review will touch on the hotels facilities and it’s implementation of Covid policies.

Arrival
We arrived fairly late to the hotel and it was great to see that they had considered the late arriving family and opened the resteraunt so we could provide food for the children. They had also adequate staffing at the checkin desk to process tired customers as quickly as possible which was also great to see.
There was no welcome drink etc which is the difference between 4 and 5 star in my humble opinion although the resteraunt had enough food/drink available.
As soon as we had checked in we were able to provide stickers to the porter staff who were very helpful and were able to transfer our luggage to our room.

The Room
We were given a room in the main complex on the 2nd floor. There was a -1 floor which was at the level providing access to the pool, 0 was reception, main resteraunt and then floors 1 and 2.
The room we received as a sea view room was actually a partial sea view as it was in the corner which partially faced an adjacent wall which distracted from a complete view. This view looked down onto the pool areas with the sea as a back drop. You can’t really sea the beach as it’s quite a narrow stretch and a small level down from the hotel at a fair distance from the room obstructed by palm trees. ( this didn’t really matter).
The room itself was smaller than the pictures lead us to believe but seems to always be the case and was partitioned with a bunk bed for the kids on one side with there own TV and wardrobe. The Tv itself was an older one with out the smart apps on it so they could only watch the 1 kids station that appeared. It was good to see duvets being supplied for there comfort as opposed to sheets.
Our side of the room had a large bed, tv (it was a smart one but lacked the usual tech ie Netflix apps, sky etc so only local stations). We did find the extremely soft pillows very uncomfortable but there were extra ones in cupboard which were a bit better but didn’t prevent me coming away with neck strain. The bathroom was of a reasonable size with a bath, sink and toilet seperated from the main room with a glass slightly obscured door with no lock. The disappoint for me there was no socket in the bathroom to use an electric shaver. The above description is just the facts as we didn’t complain as we didn’t think it was worth the effort after unpacking our clothes etc as the room generally met our needs. If I had the energy maybe I would have asked for another room.
When we got to the room on the first night there was a sticker on the door which suggested Covid Cleaned.
Generally the room was clean ie the main areas but it was easy to see inside cupboards and on balcony dust had accumulated maybe due to non use over the pandemic period or the Covid Clean wasn’t as thorough as it should be.
The cleaner did come everyday bar one day in the week and they gave it a good daily clean each day.
Covid
The hotel had a general policy for the main hotel encouraging everyone to wear masks over a certain age. The main self service resteraunt also encouraged the use of plastic gloves for serving ones self. Within the resteraunt the staff were reminding customers to put there masks on and gloves which was good to see but in the reception areas and lower floor there wasn’t really the staff on hand to politely remind customers to wear masks so there were quite a few customers not adhering to the hotel policy but mainly on the -1 floor.
Masks and hand sanitiser were provided by the hotel.
There were automated temperature checkers around in the reception area and entrance to the restaurant but they were not really being used or enforced. I’m not really sure how customers would be informed if there was a Covid outbreak.
Around the pools only staff were wearing masks and in cafe which served snack food on the day it was a 50/50 split between customers wearing masks and not with no staff really enforcing policy here but it was air rated and fairly well exposed to the outdoors.
Restaurants
There was a main restaurant which was self service for food with drinks being provided by waiting staff who were very efficient and helpful. There was usually a theme most nights ie Mexican, Italian with a variety of choice although like most buffet places operating at scale we found in the first week some quality was lost but in the second week that changed with a pleasing amount of choice and food quality. Plenty for vegetarians here.
There were 3 other restaurants some of which had limited choices on there menu.
Greek
Really nice Meze meal
Italian
Pasta, pizza, fish but pretty good although a little hot as no air conditioning being an outside resteraunt (same comment for all 3)
Chinese
Good food but not a massive set of choices
None of the resteraunts had any live music etc it was just about the meal
The staff serving were always great. With the Italian, Greek and Asian restaurant it was annoying that you could only book two days in advance and only a couple of times in the two duration but understandable why they do this although they were pretty empty when we were in the resteraunts. I’m not sure whether you can book these through the atlantica app as that would be helpful as otherwise you have to get up very early to get to the touch screen in reception to secure a booking.
Lunches
You had to go to the main resteraunt for lunch with an option to use the poolside Cafe which servers hot/cold sandwiches and burgers, chips, gyros , nuggets and chips. With also some yogurts and salads in cups. Ideally would have liked to see the choice widen here but I guess if they replicated the main resteraunt than all customers would flock into the cafee which didn’t have that sort of space.
Facilities
4 main shareable pools
The apartments away from the complex also had there own swim up smaller pools which were detached from the main pool.
Only the main large pool had easy access for those customers with walking impairments ie you could walk straight in without steps
The main pool was where the Aqua and entertainment was all at which was at a good depth for younger kids. There was a rectangle pool also at a good depth for younger kids.
Then a slightly deeper area adjoined to main pool.
There was a shaded pool perfect for babies.
My favourite pool overlooked the sea/beach which was deemed a relax pool as it had a walk up bar. It could have done with playing some relax music near closing but they had pitched it as a no music place.
Unlike most hotels I’ve been to in the first week it was fairly easy to find a sunbed around the pool no matter what time you got there. In the second week it did seem to get busier so had to hunt out sunbeds and put them together. It could have been helpful to have a poolside attended the to locate this for a customer. That said there seem to be less of that early bird customer getting down to the pool at dawn and claiming there pitch. The policy of leaving belongings on a sunbed to hog it was not really governed .
Water park
Small water park with 5 slides and two younger children areas and a lazy river.
This was great to have and there wasn’t much queuing at all.
3 of the main slides you had to use water doughnuts to go down in which came in singles and and doubles. ( great fun)
Got to say the lifeguard team here and around the main pools were excellent at what did keeping health and safety of
customers with a smile on there faces.

Entertainment
Each night apart from Saturdays the Entertainment team put on a show, quiz and kids club dancing. Got to say the shows were fantastic they had really put the effort in and had a good mix of skilled staff and entertainers they brought in. Out of all the resort shows I have seen in the Greek, Spanish and Turkish isles it was probably the best
They also provided day time activities which included aqua classes and poolside fun. They also had a free kids club each day. Our kids asked to go in to it as they noticed some water balloon battles so I witnessed a poor entertainment staff member getting completely soaked in the pool by a tribe of young kids. Got to hand it to this team in providing a remarkable service.
On level 0-1 there was a games room with table tennis tables, table football . I did think one of the rooms which was underused due to old games should be brought up to date with Nintendo’s or a movie room to make it more useful but then again it was good to the see the kids putting the effort in else where than technology devices.
There was a gym which I didn’t even look at but heard it had basic equipment.
There was a supermarket on site which sold inflatables etc at hotel prices. I recommend you just step out the hotel 2 mins and get these types of things from the local supermarket at a third of the price unless your feeling lazy.
This is also where you change your towels and you get 3 changes within a 2 week duration. All inclusive Main thing to remember is that the all inclusive covers drinks but they are all for the local brands and not for imported beers and spirits so you need to pay for a peroni which was around 4 euros for a bottle. Also be aware if like us on your day of checkout you have a late flight there is no shower room available. The excuse given was due to the pandemic so we had to pay 60 pounds extra to keep our room from the normal checkout until 6pm so we could catch our transfer at 7.45pm. The room doesn’t get cleaned that day as they wait until you leave. Personally I would have liked to see the hotel look after it’s customer here a little better and cost it into the deal at a reduced rate.

Our two girls (4&8) had absolutely loved the place, so did we. We stayed in the relax area which was a great decision when we wanted to chill especially at the end of a busy day. The pirat sheap was the absolute highlight for the kids, hours spend there. The place is very clean, tidy and very well looked after. The food was lovely and drinks great:-), not to mention the ice creams. Every single person in this hotel is friendly and so so caring. Our daughter got stuck on the aerial adventure. Not only Sabina and Garry made her rescue smooth and easy (despite the temperature up there) but offer her to come next day and try it again. I can not praise these guys more, they make us feel very special. In addition, the whole staff work increadible hard and lways greet you with a smile, what a difference you all make! Thank you to: Al, Sabina, Garry, Sia, Andreas, Yana, Nicos, Mario, and many many more. I am sorry for not remembering your names but I Thank you for what you did on our fantastic holiday. Radek, Diana, Mia&Molly, Efharisto:-)

Hotel staff were on hand to disinfect luggage as we checked in. Temperature checked via wrist and hand sanitiser used and we directed round to reception desk where we were offered sparkling wine or orange juice.Check in involved paying hotel tax calculated based on the number of nights staying and per room, in our case two rooms so double. Our luggage was driven to our room in the porters golf buggy and we made our way to our room where on entering we were met with complimentary fruit plate, sparkling wine and individual sealed per guest cloth face mask, hand sanitiser, sweets and a pair of disposable gloves. The day we arrived was their opening night due to being closed due to covid travel restrictions. The staff were very attentive in a covid safe way wearing their masks and gloves. Food was varied however after previously staying at turkey holiday village I would say not as good as there but that could be our personal preference. When we tried the ali carte restaurants it wasn’t out of choice instead allocated times were given as the hotel had minimal guests we as a family didn’t fully enjoy as were given late times and choices were limited as they had ran out of some items. The bar staff remembered drinks of members within our party and as more people arrived during our stay you could see further changes being put into place to meet the needs of additional guests. Negatives we found was that our room was in the activity area so getting drinks involved walking past the pool round a corner and over two bridges we had taken a drinks cup holder as we had seen these on a previous holiday and purchased but without getting drinks for our party would have meant several journeys.

We've stayed in the deluxe area. The room was so nice and clean. We also had our own jacuzzi and we could jump straight into the pool from our balcony. Amazing! Furthermore, the food was really tasty! The buffet restaurant had a big variety of food. Corona-measures were followed carefully by everyone. The staff was really helpful, especially the staff of the reception (Evi, Despina, ...) was so friendly and always willing to help. The manager of the hotel, Andreas, was always around and was making some time to have a conversation with the customers. Certainly, I will go back to this wonderful hotel and I would definitely reccomend it to everyone!
