Nestled on a stunning beachfront, Avra Beach Resort Hotel & Bungalows garners accolades for its exemplary service, with many guests lauding the staff's friendliness and professionalism. The hotel's location is a hit for its breathtaking views and ease of access to Rhodes Town. While the resort's atmosphere bubbles with lively, family-friendly entertainment, some guests suggest a greater variety in activities.
Although superior rooms receive commendations for their cleanliness and vistas, the standard accommodations are sometimes viewed as outdated. Amenities, including the diverse dining options and beach proximity, are popular, yet some visitors mention limited sunbeds. The value for money, including affordable upgrades and all-inclusive deals, is frequently highlighted by travelers.

We visited Avra Beach for a week at the end of September after our original trip to Croatia was cancelled. We were NOT disappointed.....what a find! Avra Beach is wonderful and suitable for everyone. We stayed in a twin room with garden view which was lovely. Nice a spacious with good size bedroom and bathroom. The balcony looked over the garden grounds which was lovely. Our room also had a fridge, air-con and TV which was very handy. You are also provided with Avra beach towels which is very handy when you are planning to only bring hand luggage with you. Every day the cleaners would come into the rooms to replenish all the toiletries and towels. The facilities at Avra are excellent. The hotel and grounds are spotless and the staff are super friendly. The food is buffet style and due to covid, you are served by a member of staff. The range of food is incredible and super fresh.....you will never go hungry. If you feel hungry throughout the day you can obtain snacks & icecream from the bar by the pool from 10am - midnight. The bar is well stocked with all beers, ciders and spirits and their cocktails are especially popular and delicious. The best part of the holiday for us was being able to eat, drink and relax whilst looking out over the gorgeous blue sea. It was everything we wanted and more. If you fancy venturing out of the hotel and exploring Rhodes, the bus stop is directly outside the hotel and costs just 2 euros a ticket. We booked 2 boat trips with the hotel reception. One to Suymi and the other to Lindos. You are picked up and dropped off at the hotel and the hotel also provides you with a packed lunch which was a lovely touch. Activities at the hotel were great fun. The animation team are super friendly and do a number of activities through the day such as aqua aerobics, bowls & darts. In the evening we saw shows from Abba, Michael Jackson and tradition greek dancing. Excellent quality and great fun. I would highly recommend Avra Beach Resort to all my friends & family and anyone reading this review. We cannot wait to visit again.

Room Tip: We preferred the garden view rooms as they were less noisy but you can get a room with a sea view.

What an excellent place! Gorgeous room with pool and sea view (904) that was really spacious and clean
As people say if you want a subbed by the pool with an umbrella then you need to be up and out before 7am. The sun bed guy comes round about 8 and any unattended beds have the towels taken off. If you’re not bothered about the umbrella then there are loads of beds and even more on the beach so no need to get up mega early
The food was lovely and loads of choice in the main restaurant as well as the snack bar that’s open 11 until 6.
If I had to nitpick at anything it would be that the towels for the pool aren’t very big so bring your own and also it would be great if they did waiter service for the drinks to save having to move! To be fair though there are no real queues at the bar so not a major issue. Guess I’m just lazy!
We ventured into Rhodes town a couple of times. Taxi rank about 3 mins walk up the road and costs 10 Euros. The Old Town is gorgeous and I would definitely recommend a trip
Finally the entertainment team. They were so lovely and great at getting people involved if they wanted to be. Gugu, George, Esme and Megan are superb. George as Michael Jackson was fantastic. Thank you for a great holiday...we will be back

This was our second visit to the Avra beach resort, this time it was myself, my husband, his dad who was turning 75 and our 11year old grandson, the hotel has had some modifications since our last visit, and me and my husband where lucky and stayed in one of the new superior sea view room’s, over looking the pool, it didn’t disappoint us, the room was spacious, well decorated and extremely clean, the only issues we had was when the sun came around in the afternoon it was too hot to enjoy the balcony, we could have done with a parasol and the glass at the end of the balcony should be frosted to give a bit more privacy, apart from that we could not fault it.
All the staff were friendly and helpful and wore face coverings at all times, the food was very nice, they had a few theme days which included Chinese, you get yourself a plate and the friendly staff put your chosen food on your plate, some were more generous than others 😋.
The addition of the sea view Greek restaurant was really nice, where you could enjoy gyros, chips, pizzas, tzatziki, Greek salad, fresh melon to name a few, same protocol get a plate and cutlery and ask the staff for your chosen food which we found delicious and very fresh. There is also a snack bar which served small bread rolls, cakes, fresh waffles, ice cream, and pizza, cold soft drinks, tea and coffee.
Pool towels can be changed three times a week, simply take your dirty towels and get them changed for fresh clean ones.
The entertainment team GuGu, George, Megan and Esmee are fantastic, they were friendly and didn’t expect you to join every activity, which was nice, as everyone enjoys there holiday in different ways, which they understood, they did manage to pursued my husband to join in Mr Avra Which he won and was thrilled to bits. In addition there is a couple of pool tables and ping pong 🏓 and a tennis court too. Not forgetting the lovely lifeguard Maria keeping a watchful eye on all the guests and keeping them safe 😃
The night entertainment was also great, a mini disco for the little kids, followed by Bingo, karaoke, Mr Avra, Singers, Greek night (Singer and Dancers), Quiz, and an outstanding Michael Jackson tribute done by one of their very own team members George.
We had the best time, felt very safe and we were well looked after by all members of staff too many outstanding to mention. We will be returning again as soon as we can.
Thank you to all at Avra beach from Tony, Sam, Tom and Ryan.

After 3 years we returned to this hotel because our first stay was outstanding only to find it is better, we stayed in 2 superior rooms overlooking the pool a new extension since our last stay which were fabulous, with a great view of the sea from the balcony it also gave a great view of the entertainment taking place poolside. The entertainment was brilliant the team worked their socks off, performances by some tribute bands/groups were the Jersey Boys, El Divo, and last but not least Michael Jackson performed by George one of the in house entertainers brilliantly supported by the remainder of the team. The Greek entertainment group were as can be imagined were exceptional.
The staff throughout our stay were exceptionally professional, and ensured that the guests were protected in this current climate. I will mention the cleaning staff that worked so very hard throughout each and every day to ensure the hotel was gleaming like a new pin.
The food was top notch and very tasty, the Greek grill was a big hit for my family as we enjoy Greek food especially the Greek salad. The main restaurant was airy clean and well staffed serving a huge variety of dishes to please every palate, we were lucky to be looked after by a waitress called Souzana Tagrap who greeted us at every meal with a cheery smile ensuring that we had everything we needed, and even began to anticipate our needs, especially coffee at breakfast, the hotel are very lucky to have such professional staff.
Some minor points not criticism but observations, the signs showing what each dish is in the restaurant need to be moved to the guest side of the serving line I realise that this problem will not last forever but until it does it will help people with eyesight problems such as me, I also think the glass barrier on the balconies of the rooms should be changed in some way to give some privacy if you want to sunbathe on the balcony.
Finally I would just add that We all had a great time, and we will be returning.

We had a very enjoyable week here, especially considering current circumstances, however we both agreed that we probably wouldn’t stay at this hotel again.
On the subject of the COVID climate that we currently live in, it must be said that this hotel couldn’t have done any more. Sanitiser was plentiful, and cleaners could often be seen around the place. Meal times were well organised and staff were always wearing masks, even in the hot weather. Kudos to them for that.
The entertainment team were a great bunch of people and although the array of things to do wasn’t as vast as it once was, from speaking to them this was more due to the pandemic rather than anything they could control. The small amount of activities on offer could be better advertised though.
The grounds of the hotel are smartly presented, can’t really fault them, the rooms equally were clean and inoffensive, but nothing spectacular. The rain shower in the bathroom was a nice touch, but the lack of a substantial mirror, other than the often steamed up version which accompanied it, was a disappointment.
Our biggest criticism would be the food and drink. Throughout the day you are constantly reminded that the ethos here is clearly just to buy the cheapest ingredients possible. The fruit ‘juice’ is not actually juice at all, which makes cocktails taste like they’ve been made using squash. On the food side of things, we’d argue that there is so little meat content in anything offered at dinner, that it could probably be classed as vegan friendly. Having said that, having freshly made gyros for lunch every day made up for it somewhat.
To conclude, we thought that this was a ‘nice’ hotel, but that’s about it. It’s far from terrible, and if you’re booked to stay there in the near future, then there’s no need to be rushing to the travel agents to change it, just don’t expect it to blow your socks off.
Hannah & Ben
PS - Our top tip would be to hire a car, but not from the place attached to the hotel, unless you’ve recently won the lottery. We hired one from AutoCandia, who were brilliant. Dropped the car to us at the hotel, and all for a fraction of the price. (Hotel car hire wanted €50 per day, we paid €85 for the week!)
Another tip would be to take some cash. There appears to be a sort of card machine plague spreading across Rhodes at the moment, as many businesses appeared to be having ‘problems’ with either the internet, or the machines themselves. Strange.

Dear Hannah and Ben, Thank you for your feedback following your recent stay with us at Avra Beach Resort Our main focus under the circumstances is our Guests well being and safety. It is always a pleasure to read a review where someone truly appreciates the facilities of our Hotel and the efforts of our team to provide the best possible level of service, despite the restrictions due to "Corona'' . Regarding your comments about the food and lack of meet variety, kindly note that we were suprised to read that . We do always and in every meal have meat (chicken, pork) in our live kitchen, and also in the buffet, cooked recipes also with meat. Furthermore at the Greek snack bar from 10:00 am to 18:00 you can find gyros, souvlaki and traditional greek dishes with meat. So we do not really understand what you mean. Allow us also not to accept your comment about the ''cheapest ingredients'' , as this is certainly not indicative of the high standards the hotel abides by. In any way, we hope to soon welcome you again to Avra Beach Resort . With kind regards Alina Georgiadi Public Relations

Just home from a week away at the Avra Beach hotel Rhodes.
What an amazing stay, we could not find fault at all.
The whole hotel, rooms, pool area, etc are spotless.
Considering the current covid situation was so unexpected, they have stepped up to make us feel safe with great care.
Always a life guard on duty Maria, who is very friendly, and takes time out to dance and really look after the kids there.
The bar staff and snack bar staff work tirelessly to meet all our needs perfectly.
The restaurant is again spotless, and the food is very varied and tasty, never the same meals of an evening, and again there is something for everyone. Kostas and all his staff work so very hard all day long, and serving food to you with smile, and safely.
Entertainment, Gu Gu, Esme, Megan, and of course George, work to keep you entertained, with lots of choice of activities which you can either choose to officiate in, but if you choose not to there is no pressure on you to do so.
The rooms are cleaned to a high standard, and fresh towels available daily if needed, the pool towels can be exchanged regularly as you need.
We cannot be more pleased with our choice of hotel, as soon as you walk in and meet the reception staff, until you leave, your made to feel welcome, and any issues you may have ( which we didn’t ) are catered for. We asked to keep our room in the last day in the morning, and as our room had been allocated for new arrivals, they swapped their room to enable us to keep ours all day, which was much needed as we had a later flight.
Thankyou so much to you all, you are all amazing, and we cannot wait to return again.
Special mention to watch the Michael Jackson tribute act, we weren’t expecting too much from it, but were so pleasantly surprised by it, it really was fantastic.
Again well done to all, our first family holiday with myself, husband, and 2 older kids ( who haven’t holidayed with us for 10 years ) was absolutely amazing, and really couldn’t have been better. ❤️💙
If there was a higher rating than 5* you would most definitely get it from us.

We booked this last minute after our trip to Crete was cancelled. This was our first time at an all inclusive resort & we weren’t disappointed.
The hotel itself is clean, well laid out & has a great vibe. It has it’s own beach with sun beds & a great pool. The food is lovely & if you’re willing to try everything offered, there is a huge range of dishes. We were there 11 nights & there was something different every night. Breakfast and lunches were plentiful. I was concerned there wouldn’t be enough Greek food, but I didn’t have to worry. A big hello to Catherine, who will laden you up with so much dessert you’ll be rolling home.
The hotel itself is spotlessly clean, lots of hand sanitiser & the staff wore PPE. They were good at keeping socially distanced at mealtimes. It is a buffet style restaurant, but the staff will serve you food and drink. The sun beds were all sanitised on a nighttime too.
The only minus was the room we were first given. Mould on the ceiling, a ceiling hole filled with a plastic bag, cupboard doors hanging off, a very wobbly basin & a noisy aircon that stopped us from sleeping. At 1.30am it wasn’t great. We complained to TUI via the app asap & moved to far better room by next morning. We don’t expect it to be flash, but even in basic accommodation we do expect a certain standard. It’s a shame because it doesn’t take much to fix things like that.
All in all a very good holiday and we’d definitely come again assuming we didn’t have the room issues.

My partner and I stayed at the Avra for one week through a TUI package holiday. Before I get into the negatives, I want to acknowledge the nice bits about the hotel.
The newer part of the hotel has lovely, modern rooms which are cleaned daily. The staff are mainly very friendly and attentive. The location is good if you want to be close to Rhodes town, there is a shuttle from the hotel (6 euro per adult) but a taxi is 10-13 euro so this is the better option in our opinion.
I’m not usually one to write reviews, however I want to inform others of things I wish I’d known before deciding to stay here. Firstly, the hotel consists of an older building (the original hotel) and then a much newer building and suites. We were originally assigned a room in the older building upon arrival. These rooms were not featured on the hotel or TUI websites and were quite frankly disgusting, tiny and outdated. These rooms were in no way 4-star standard. We immediately requested an upgrade but were told we couldn’t move until the next day. The next morning, a much more helpful receptionist upgraded us to a suite room (for a cost of 77 euro). If you are planning to stay here I would personally only recommend the newer rooms.
The food choice is very limited and is always luke-warm rather than hot. There is not a lot of variety of food choice.
The sun beds are old and uncomfortable. It would make a huge difference to have these updated. If you place your towel on a sunbed in the morning, staff will sometimes remove them (even moving your bags and belongings). Personally I have never experienced this, especially when there are lots of beds. I think it is very rude.
Overall the hotel is okay, it would be a lot better with a few adjustments and an update of the old building. I do not think I would recommend this hotel to someone I know.

Dear KatEllie97, Thank you for your time to share your experience regarding your stay in our hotel. Kindly note that all the other members of our team have already been informed and would like to express their appreciation for your kind comments. We are glad you enjoyed our location and your stay at the new rooms . Regarding your comments about the older part of rooms, please note that in our official website and social media the standard rooms are exactly as seen in reality. Furthermore the first receptionist did not change you immediately because there was no availability at the moment for an upgrade. There is no chance that they did not want to change you, as you said the staff is really friendly and helpful. We respect that you did not like our food but I would like to inform you that we do receive many positive comments especially for the variety of our food, as we have all day long different choices for all of our guests (greek, italian, chinese, mexican, carvery, fish choices, kids menu, cretan cuisine, veggie food, gelateria with pastries,sandwiches,sweets..etc,) Moreover regarding your comments about our staff collecting the towels from 08:00 till 08:30 at the morning, kindly note that all of our guests are informed upon arrival that this time of the day sunbeds cannot be reserved. In anyway we would like once again to thank you for the feedback ,it will give us the chance to further enhance our services. It will be our pleasure to welcome you back in Avra Beach Resort and provide you with the service that all our valuable guests deserve. Yours sincerely, Alina Georgiadi Guest Relations

I went to Avra beach in the last 2 weeks of October for 11 days with my boyfriend. We had the most amazing holiday and it was mainly due to the best staff at the hotel, they were all so friendly and made us feel welcome. The food was so good with the lunch in the Greek and Italian restaurants being the best and the homemade pizzas were my favourite. The cleaners came in our rooms each day to make our beds and clean up the room and they would always greet us with a smile and one day they let me use the iron in their room which was very helpful. The location of the hotel is perfect to get to Rhodes town with the bus being €4 return and it came very frequently, there is also a restaurant across from the hotel called Napoli which was the best food we had all holiday. There is a bar down from the hotel called double deuces which was also a really fun night out. The cocktails in the hotel were really good and they are sweet but I have a sweet tooth so I didn’t mind this, I’ve seen some reviews saying they are watered down but they still managed to get me drunk. The bar staff ended up knowing our order and would start making our drinks before we even asked for them which was nice to know they remembered, Nikos even added rum into one of the cocktails making it much nicer. The entertainment each night was really good with our favourite being the Jersey boys and the Sole Divas and Balu the head of entertainment really put on a good show and would come over and sit and talk to us each night. The only thing I would suggest for improvement for the entertainment is to play music in the area where the stage was to make it more lively before the acts came on. Dani who was also part of the entertainment team really made our holiday as he would sit with us in the evenings and taught us different card games, we would see him throughout the day doing different activities and he was always a friendly face to speak to. Mike who collected our glasses in the evenings was amazing and would always be dancing along to the evening entertainment and would always come over and speak to us. We really enjoyed our holiday and had the best time and we will definitely be back next year mainly due to the staff.

I have just returned from my 3rd visit to Avra beach and cant wait to go back again! Each time I go there are more improvements. Previously I have stayed in the bungalows, but this time we were staying in the main building. I decided to upgrade to a superior room and it was SO worth it, they are great rooms with an awesome sea view.
The food is of excellent quality (although no full english breakfast :( ) Usually a buffet, but obviously due to covid the staff serve the food to you. Everything is clean, with hand sanitiser available and all staff wear face coverings throughout the day and night.
As always, the staff at Avra go above and beyond to fullfill your needs and always with a nice smile, nothing is ever too much trouble for any of them. The entertainment team this year, Gugu, Megan, Esmee and George were great, always interacting with the guests and ensuring they were enjoying thier time. This year there is also the addition of a lifeguard called Maria, and what a great addition. On top of keeping a close eye on swimmers,, in both pool and sea, she also spends time chatting to the guests and joining in with the entertainment team. Such a fun, friendly, beautiful woman :)
I was quite surprised when at least 3 of the members of staff remembered me from my last visit (which was around 6 years ago!)
I did feel the bingo was a little pricey at €10, but I cant complain as I was lucky enough to win twice lol (Free 20 min massage, and the €50 jackpot)
This hotel will always be my hotel of choice when visiting Rhodes :)

Should be everything stops in November
No sparkling since 4 years ago. You can purchase though.
There wasn't any when we went. They have it at the Spa shop 5 min walk away. Come out the main entrance of the hotel turn right and keep on the main road. You can't miss it.
