We celebrated our Wedding anniversary in this historical hotel. The view to the alps from the room, restaurant, bar and the swimming pool is just amazing! The structure of the hotel itself is old and preserved. There are explanations of the historical stuffs of the whole building of the hotel which we found it very interesting on how the people spent their time in that building during the early times. Not to forget, the view to Mont Blanc and the surrounding alps from the hotel is unbelievable especially during the sunset with changing colours shining onto the alps. The renovated rooms with balcony is very nice and modern and not too overdecorated. There is even a dressing table in the room. However, the room number 78 that we stayed in has quite a small bed for 2 person. Luckily one of us is not so big so we could still fit in that bed without much moving in bed or else for sure one will fall out of bed. The size of the bed is just slightly wider than a usual single bed. Since we are on our wedding anniversary trip, we could hug each other the whole night to prevent falling out of bed. The balcony is also great in our room. It's spacious and with the amazing view to the alps and Mont Blanc. It's even a very nice place to see the stars from the balcony with clear skies and very bright stars. We are not sure if they did not provide any glass/cups in the bathroom due to the Covid-19 prevention measurements in place which is quite inconvenient for someone that needs a cup to brush their teeth. Luckily there are wine glass in the minibar. There we also no hand soap for us to wash our hands at the bathroom sink since frequent washing of hands are essential nowadays. So we always have to walk into the shower cubicle to squeeze some shower gel from the wall dispenser to wash our hands. Slippers were also not provided in the room but there is a nice bathrobe and pool towel in the cupboard to go to the pool and spa. Breakfast is amazing. Instead of buffet breakfast which you usually help yourself, are now being served on the table by a lovely waitress with a trolley. She was so nice during the breakfast service and also did check on us if we need to refill our breakfast meal. She gave us a good start of the day with her excellent service. The quality of the breakfast is also very good. We had dinner in the hotel. Dinner was ordinary and not very special. The fish was quite dry as well as the carrot of the salad as it's already being cut for quite sometimes in the fridge. The waitress that served us that night was great. She always has this smile on her face and was extremely polite. Pity that we did not get her name. Her service gave us an amazing evening in that restaurant although the food was just ordinary. The swimming pool is very clean and modern with massage functions and the size of the pool is good. While swimming you can see the Mont Blanc from the horizon of the pool. Overall the structure of the building is outdated but it's a historical hotel. So we expected already that nothing is modern inside but was surprised on the great renovation they did for the swimming pool, spa and the terrace. We enjoyed very much in this historical hotel. Will definitely come back here again for the amazing view to the alps and the friendly service of the waitress. We were also very happy with the Covid-19 prevention measurements that the hotel have in place that gave us confident and feel safe to stay in this hotel. Thanks a lot for the nice arrangements for our room although there are some problems in it but the view and the service of the waitress made it all up.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the south/mountains. It's worth it to pay the extra for the mountain view.

Fantastic location with terrific views. Absolutely extraordinary location. The hotel has seen better times. While the rooms are spacious, the furniture is outdated. The meeting rooms smell chlorine from the neighboring pool, service level is substandard.

I would like to start off with saying we had an overall great stay in the hotel. The rooms are spacious and the spa and view is amazing. However, I would recommend everyone to go to Dinner outside of the hotel as our experience was one we will remember for sure. We were having Dinner with a big group and were having a lovely time, the view was amazing and the staff was lovely. Two people ordered two steakes, Medium, which understandibly is a difficult task. So when the steakes were served and they were clearly, clearly well done. We had a difficult time sending it back as we didn’t want to be picky and would’ve liked to eat all together. However, as you pay about 40 euros per steak and these steaks were undoubtedly well cooked, we were left with no choice but to send them back as they simply weren’t tasting to our liking after trying one bite. We apologized to our waitress and explained the situation. She was lovely and empathetic and took the steaks back. And just to clearify, if it would have been left at this, the evening still would have been amazing and it wouldn’tve even been mentioned in the review, as these things happen, and we would’ve completely understood. About ten minutes later, our waitress came back, still nice as ever but clearly a bit distressed as she had to come explain us, the steaks served were medium. She was clearly sent by the chef and was put in an uncomfortable situation and we felt for her. But we further went on to explain they were not, we wished to have had the discussion when the steaks were still there so we could’ve shown they weren’t. But they were completely brown on the inside and very hard. Ten minutes later, when the others had already finished their meal. The chef came out of the kitchen, angry. To, in an extremely degrading way, explain us how steaks are cooked medium in Switserland. It was not only inappropriate, it made quite a show, all the guests were looking at us. And we almost felt like little school children being told off, as his voice was raised and his tone was unpleasant and perceived very angry. If the chef would’ve come out to kindly ask us how we would’ve liked our steaks, we would’ve found that odd but okay. But this wasn’t the case, he was clearly there to tell us, you’re wrong, I’m right. And it was confusing at this point why he was coming to tell us, because he surely wouldn’tve send the same steak out after 20 minutes? After being talked at in an angry, agressive tone, we tried very hard not to get angry too, as we wanted to have a nice dinner and it didn’t have to become a big deal. We googled a picture of a medium steak and showed the images that were displayed on google. He said; “no thats rare”. As we wanted this big show on the terrace to stop, we said “sure thats rare then, referring to the medium picture, could we have it like this?”. 20 minutes later, when everyone else was already done for ages, two extremely bloody steaks were served. I’m guessing right in the middle is just not an option. I would like to end my review by saying. Medium is always a tricky order. But getting a steak that is already brown on the inside, is not up for discussion not a medium. I wished we made pictures but again, we didn’t know this would be made to be such a big deal so we did not. The chef at some point also jelled at us “jeah the steaks were already brown before they were cooked” which is simply not a good argument. Because either the steak is cooked wrong or the quality of the meat is so poor that it is brown to start with. If we knew this would’ve become such a big theatrical show, we would’ve just left the steaks as they were, not eaten them and would’ve shared our other meals, because it was not worth the complete issue it would become. But again, if you charge these prices for dinners you’d expect the food to be good. Lastly, coming to school your guests is not only childish, but highly inhospitable, I really do not believe in the saying that the guests are always right. But I evidently believe that a guest never comes in to be jelled at by a chef. Our waitress remained calm and friendly troughout the whole evening and she was lovely. We had a lot of respect for her as she was also, clearly put, in an uncomfortable situation. It is a shame, that in a few years, we will mostly likely only remember this fiasco about out stay here.

madame, I am aware our message. I’m sorry for the misunderstanding between our second Cook and you. The chef was away that night. Usually our cuisine is pleasing to our guests.. On your group of 8 people, there was a problem with the 2 entrecôtes. My team tried to find solutions, but that were not satisfactory. The language barriers may have also created tension. Thank you for compliments on our young apprentice. I send your message to my team. I’m sorry of your disappointment about our establishment. You are in Switzerland, but if you want to come back to see me, I welcome you with pleasure. I also replied to your message sent. (Father) Best regards, Patrice B Directeur

Friendly staff. Nice room with a big comfortable bed and a nice Belle Epoque style. Superb view. Swimming pool is a plus thought I would have prefered some hot jacuzzis and more saunas instead at this altitude. Entrance and restaurant are also nice and renovated. It is just too bad that the renovation has not been integral. Bathroom was from the 70-80's. A nice reproduction of a Belle Epoque bathroom would have been far warmer. Corridors, stairs and some other parts are old and bland with cold neon lights. Some more investment and the hotel will be very nice !

Dear Sylvian Thank you for your comment on your stay. I see that everything was not perfect. Since August 2018, we have a Spa with: hammam, sauna, fitness, massage, relax room in addition to our swimming pool. Which is nice for a 3 * hotel in Switzerland. Our historic hotel seeks to keep a style. It was elected "Historic Hotel of year 2019". We have also been awarded the Swiss hotel brand since the 1st January. We did some renovations in 2018: corridors, some rooms. Little by little we give it its former glory. Patrice B Directeur 12.02.19
