I love how homely this lodge is. I love how friendly the staff are and the food always feels like a home cooked meal. The architecture is traditional, which is perhaps what makes this place unique amongst Alotau. Definitely a lodge worth visiting!

Good security , We stayed in a large bungalow, although there is no air conditioning in this Bungalow , it was comfortable enough to sleep with the ceiling fan. The restaurant served a small menu , excellent quality, chicken stir fry, burgers, and the fish and chips were great. Beautiful garden surrounds, easy walk into town , or take a taxis, 5 Kina oneway.

Flew into Alotau and stayed at Napatana Lodge after doing Kokoda. Exhausted and smelly we were looked after admirably with a decent menu, bar, laundry services and general amenities. Staff were very helpful in providing advice about our time in Milne Bay and recommendations for our overnight trip were excellent.

There are only a few places to stay in Milne Bay, which is old name for what is now Alotau, and Napatana Lodge is terrific, in my view. Lovely restaurant and bar, close to town, friendly owners and staff, and a good location. Plus the price is right. It's between the airport and Alotau center, and close to some of the war memorials. Catch the mini-van bus from the airport, if you want to save some $$$. Enjoy a beer on the deck.

Stayed here twice whilst transiting to and from East Cape and beyond. Comfortable clean room and loved the restaurant which is open air rather than locked behind glass with excellent food and really well priced. This is now my "go to" place for my many future trips to and from Alotau. The staff are so friendly and welcoming. I like this place.

We were supposed to stay at the Napatana Lodge for one night on our way to East Cape, but our flight was canceled and we arrived one day later so we decided to go directly to East Cape. Even so, the guesthouse picked us up from the airport, gave us information, drove us to the information center in Alotau and then to the bus stop where we took the PMV to East Cape. On our way back from East Cape we stayed at the Lodge for one night and the service was very good, the room was nice, clean and spacious, the food at the bar was tasty and everyone so friendly. We highly recommend this place.

I guess it’s a good lodge, but didn’t get an opportunity to experience it. Faced with no power and no backup generator. Asked and advised that they had a generator before booking the day before. Generator was not working! No advise give in adv.. checked out. Really disappointing experience.

Thank you for your review. We are disappointed that you were not happy with your stay. It was unfortunate that you arrived on the day that our back-up generator conked out. We hired another the same evening, unfortunately you had moved out before it arrived.

My parents and I recently stayed at Napatana Lodge for the weekend of the Kenu and Kundu festival. The staff are lovely and super helpful. We were in the large bungalow and enjoyed spending some relaxing time on the porch in between the heat and activities of the festival. The lodge is within walking distance of the town and Napatana are also happy to provide lifts into town and to and from the airport. Thanks for a great stay Napatana staff : )
