Welcome to the exotic culture of Papua New Guinea (PNG) and to Tawali Resort. Located on a volcanic bluff overlooking the clear protected waters of Milne Bay, Tawali offers travelers a unique location to dive, relax and enjoy the unspoiled wonders of this magnificent part of the world.Tawali is located in a secluded area of Milne Bay amongst local fishing villages and accessible only by boat. Built on a limestone bluff eighty feet above the water, Tawali offers guests a private retreat in which to enjoy the wonders of PNG. Tawali was constructed by local craftsmen and you will find beautifully carved totems and woodwork in the spacious main lodge and throughout the resort.
I've stayed here many times and love it. A beautiful paradise set on the beach. You can lie in bed and hear the sea lapping or sit out on the deck and watch the sun go down. Great helpful staff and very good rooms.

stayed 4 nights here and couldn't wished for more. its a bit of travel to arrive at the resort but it is so worth it. the house reef 300m from your room is brilliant for snorkelling. did 3 days of diving, all incredible, yoshi and albert both so helpful and good at finding critters for you. the accomodation isn't 5 star but clean and comfortable. the food was varied, tasteful and plentiful. i would recommend it to anyone. i loved my stay.

Tawali isn't just off the beaten track - it's off every track! Access is only by boat. It's only a 15 minute ferry to a kind of roadhead, and all the excursions are by boat - so you really can imagine you're off the map. We stayed 4 nights as non-divers in a family room - my only criticism is that we asked for a mattress to put on the floor as our children don't particularly like sleeping in the same bed and were told it would cost 100 kina per night; that's about $45 a night to have a mattress on the floor, which seemed outrageous. Maybe they thought we were trying to squeeze in an extra guest? Dunno - we declined the offer. At the time my thoughts were: "that's gonna cost you a star on Trip Advisor" but the rest of the stay was so good and the staff so friendly I forgave…

Arriving into Tawali is an adventure in itself, a flight from Port Moresby to Alotau, a bus ride & then a boat! It's exciting from the moment you arrive & totally worth the trek! Stunning location with an bustling reef right on the doorstep. So many dive sites it's amazing! A macro divers heaven, with pigmy seahorses, ghost fish and nudies everywhere. Staff were awesome, thanks to Alfred, Gilbert, Albert, other Albert, Yoshi & the manager Armando for such a great time! Definitely worth a visit!

My girlfriend and I spent 6 days at Tawali and loved every minute of it! Right from the transfer from the airport, we were looked after absolutely brilliantly. The location is stunning, tucked away in a picturesque bay it offers some truly magnificent views from the rooms as well as the common areas. The rooms are spacious and very well maintained. The food was good with the menu constantly changing. Finally, the diving- It was some of the best Macro Diving I have ever done with the dive guides (Albert and Yoshi) finding the smallest of critters tucked away in the coral. The coral itself is in good condition with a huge variety of hard and soft coral alike. We were also lucky enough to see a Hammerhead swim by along with a few other pelagics. The dive boat is big and has ample…

Diving: 10 dives here, 3 Lawadi and other sites. Dive guide found Cyerce Nigra Nudi for me! Bravo! I took very good macro and wide angle photos. Very satisfied. But the night dive at house reef seemed not very exciting. Meals: The stir potatoes with beef in the first day when I arrived was my favorite. Also other seafood are also delicious. Accommodation: I stayed in Superior Room. Really nice! Always hot water provided. Room is big and tidy. Only some cons - all the house are built on the wooden trestle, you can feel a shake when somebody is walking through outside. And the room is poor sound insulation. I was waken in midnight one day by the guests next door who arrived late. They talked and snored. I couldn't fall asleep until 3 in the morning. Oh, regarding the accident - I…

Tawali resort is in a very beautiful location. The local staff is very nice and helpful. The rooms could be more beautifully decorated even in a simple manner (even if you re not coming to PNG for fancy places). Snorkelling is very nice.

We flew from Cairns, where we had snorkeled for 2 days on the Great Barrier Reef, which being honest was very disappointing, and the least said about it the better! We booked Tawali as a relaxing holiday, having spent the previous 2 months wandering through New Zealand and then Australia. As others have said, Tawali can only be approached by sea. We were picked up at Alotau airport, together with another couple, and driven some 40 mins or so to a small jetty out in the sticks, and then transferred by a small launch to the Tawali Resort. The Manager, and a waitress with drinks, greeted us on arrival at the jetty. Then up a wooden staircase to Reception for just a moment or two, to collect our room key, before being immediately invited to a sumptuous lunch on the outside…

Wow – Tawali is a little piece of heaven right here on Earth. Stayed here for 5 nights and so wish it could have been longer. The property was beautiful. The bungalows were nestled amongst the trees overlooking the pristine water below. The staff was genuinely friendly and made us feel most welcome. The food was excellent; great mix of seafood and other western dishes. Now the diving – it was the best diving in the world. So untouched, we didn’t see any other divers on any of our dives. The underwater world here is amazing. The corals were alive with colors and the abundance of fish was simply amazing. Thanks again to George & Jonah - our dive masters that shared with us paradise beneath the sea. I cannot wait to return!!
