We travelled to Tawali Resort from Port Moresby so was an adventure to get there. The staff are amazing and exceptionally helpful. We travelled with our 2 sons aged 9 and 10, and we stayed in a large family room which had 2 double beds in it. The main resort area was a great place to hang out after a full day of snorkelling in a range of different spots around the resort. Free wifi was very helpful as the kids enjoyed playing on their tablets there on the couches with others who were staying there as well. The food was awesome, and l loved that it was served at set times as a buffet so I didn't have to even think about food for the family. Can't say enough about the snorkelling as so accessible and amazing reef with tonnes of fish. Overall, 4 day holiday with the family at…
Stayed for 12 days. Diving was the purpose of this trip. Some confusion at check in about our room, but was swiftly resolved. The deluxe bungalow room is large and very comfortable. This room had 4 outlets, so no problems with charging cameras etc. Alfred and his crew are wonderful. The large boat, which could easily accommodate 12, was taken out for just us few (a couple days we had 5 divers). Diving was varied; walls, much bommies and shallow reefs. A few of the reefs were absolutely spectacular! Healthy, colorful and full of marine life...one dive we even saw a hammerhead! One thing we do not like is the use of sticks.. we do not believe in touching or harassing anything in the ocean, whether it’s fish, nudibranchs, sea fans or coral. They offer a variety of other activities…
If you dive or snorkel Tawali Resort will be one of the best places to go to in a lifetime. We have traveled the world extensively, have seen the most beautiful places, dived the best spots all over the world. I won't go into detail, this is a place you have to experience yourself. The resort is simple but nice and clean. The location is unbeatable, stunning views, stunning reef, remote, hardly any tourist. We'll be back.
What a magnificent location with a beautiful coral reef surrounding two sides of the reef. Local staff were friendly, helpful and warm and we could not find fault with them. However the resorts main emphasis appears to be on divers only. As ex divers with over 6000 logged hours underwater it was particularly noticeable. Meals were average , we found that 3 buffets a day to be repetitive. Perhaps an a-la-carte menu could be occasionally considered. We felt a lack of transparency in the pricing structure allowed for extra hidden costs, i,e free snorkelling advertised around the house reef but had to hire masks, finns and snorkels if you are unable to bring your own. There is also a 5 percent surcharge when settling your account by credit card. If you wish to go fishing bring…
The trip from the airport took around 75 minutes in an air conditioned coach then 15 minutes by boat. Staff were friendly on arrival. There is around 38 stairs and some ramps up to the reception. Check in was easy. We stayed in a standard room well away from the reception/dining area. The bed and room were adequate but the bathroom was not to standard. I was here for diving and I can't give enough credit for the service/dive sites and fantastic guides. Albert Tom and Alfred George was terrific- better eyes than mine. The inner reefs and muck diving areas are world class. Be aware that the outer reefs have strong currents. The boat crew and all staff whilst diving were attentive and always helpful. The food was outstanding with an array of varieties each day. Well done to the…
