For a long time owner, Sandra, wanted to write by the sea. She went in search of a remote world, quiet, where the blue was obvious. One day, she landed in Cancun and the attraction of the Mayan land was overwhelming. She took a small plane and flew over the island of Holbox.Nothing was more attractive to her than the Feast of the colors of nature, barefoot fishermen with their gold teeth, women weaving hammocks or sheathed with their heels in the sand. "I want to do something here, " she said and began to imagine in her head this project now called "the hotel with a human touch" on this very beach. The land of more than 150 species of birds, whale shark, or Damero world's largest fish, mangroves in each corner, all were an inspiration to this artist. Then she wanted to welcome friends from around the world and to express, through a hotel on the island of Holbox, a point of view on life: "peace and art are a great treasure for humans. " Because of this she thought of a place that is romantic, sexy, creative, where the personalized, warm, rustic atmosphere in a luxurious twenty rooms that look to the sea, where one could meet the privacy and whims of its guests. All done out of love and passion. The same place where one can dream and create, and in the best case, where one can rest. The joy of giving and expressing a new way of caring for guests, has been the commitment of the hotel. Every detail has a reason: from the small art gallery with paintings by renowned artists to the beautiful furniture that inhabit the halls.Feelings, emotions, poetry, touches of color, aromas of black coffee, hammocks, fabric on the balconies, fluffy sheets, the sea at every angle, and romantic evenings create the magic of the "place of your dreams."

Ive already been 2 times this year and planning on a third. SHHH don't tell anyone, this is a very special place!!! I feel like Casa Sandra is my second home. I can't say enough good things about the service, ambiance, staff, and laid back luxury. First class place.

Rare for me to give a perfect 10 but seriously this has everything you could want for an eco luxe beach holiday. Not going to lie but there is seaweed on the beach and the evening meals at the hotel are pricey but really everything else is just perfect. You will have seen the pictures they do not lie but that’s only half the story the staff truly treat you like one of the family and you will unwind within moments of arriving. The air con works, room bed is super comfy, beach beds for everyone, 5 mins walk into town if tacos are your thing and much more. My husband is normally itching to get home this is the first time he has wanted to stay so thank you Casa Sandra we are already trying to book our flights for next year.

Happy New Year! Thank you for leaving us this comment full of love. We are aware, we are on a wonderful island and there will be always some reasons that we cannot control, such as algae. However, when you decide to live the experience beyond what you see and focus on what you feel, we are very happy. Thank you for telling us how was your experience. We are already waiting for you!

We really wanted to like this place. The stunning photos on the website. The ‘home from home’ ethos. The island get away. But unfortunately Casa Sandra does not live up to its promises. There were some positives: the entrance is charming, the bar and dining area were quirky and attractive, dinner was was excellent. But that’s where the positives end. The rooms are tired and nowhere near as chic as they look on the images. We stayed in two rooms: we initially booked a superior beach front king, and were then moved in what seemed like quite a hurry a day later to a garden suite due to what we were told was a problem with the roof leaking because of tropical rain. It sounded like this was a regular occurrence. Neither room had the level of luxury we expected - the bathrooms were particularly old; in the latter, the room had no natural light and the bathtub was chipped. The ‘included’ breakfast felt very miserly: any hot drinks apart from filter coffee or tea were extra, as were certain breakfast items; you were presented with a whole teaspoon of jams and butter. This seemed at odds with the convivial atmosphere they are trying to achieve. We saw nothing of the ‘cinema night’ and ‘Cuban music night’ advertised - they were never mentioned. As you may know, Holbox has an increasingly bad seaweed problem. This was absolutely horrendous when we were there and seemed particularly bad at Casa Sandra’s beach. When you come to an island get away, you want to spend most of your time on the beach: wading through least a foot long and calf deep blanket of seaweed to get into the sea is not part of the plan. The seaweed in itself would have been bad enough but my goodness the smell!! For two days the stench of rotten eggs lingered: not just at the beach, but around the whole hotel, outside the rooms, even the pool area, a smell so thick it made you gag. You were only safe inside. We basically couldn’t sit on the beach for most of the trip. Now, I know this isn’t Casa Sandra’s fault per se, but I do find it odd that they seem to do absolutely nothing to combat it - burning cedar wood around the hotel to mask the smell, digging a path, at last, to get to the sea without covering yourself in muck. This does seem a bit of a joke when you are paying upwards of $260 a night. As a final nail in the coffin, we were incorrectly charged $260 for a transfer due to the hotel’s misunderstanding which they have repeatedly refused to refund. We initially had a discussion about transfers, but then I emailed to confirm that our hotel in Tulum were arranging ‘all the transfers’ instead, which we prepaid for. When it came time to leave, we took what we assumed was our Tulum transfer, but later received a message from our hotel in Tulum asking where we were, because our driver had been waiting for us! I asked the hotel for an itemised copy of our bill (we were rushed to leave and my husband didn’t have time to look at it), to find the hotel had charged us for the transfer without confirming. When I queried this, they said they didn’t understand that I meant to cancel ‘all the transfers’ (the phrase I used was literally ‘all the transfers’), but we used the service anyway so too bad! I have tried to reason with them several times but their response has been simply to ignore me - terrible customer service and certainly not the warm welcome and hospitality they purport to offer. In short, if you fancy tired rooms, purifying seaweed, being stiffed for $260 and terrible customer service, be my guest and stay at CasaSandra, but otherwise steer clear!

We are very grateful because you have chosen us as the first option for your vacations. We appreciate your comment, it is the way we have to change our perception and observe ourselves, which allows us to grow every day. Our rooms are faithful to the images of the web, were recently taken by our photographer Iago Leonardo, and every day we take care of every detail so you can feel what you can feel. In addition to what can be seen in an image, you can feel when you wake up from the room the lovely sound of birds, rooms that not only include daily drinks for your comfort, but are decorated with great awareness, works of art by artists who they are part of the Isla Residencia, furniture of great Mexican and world designers, rooms in which you find organic amenities, hammocks made by Yucatecan hands with a unique design, the beds dressed by Egyptian cotton sheets of more than a thousand threads, courtesies at night with letters chosen and written for you by Sandra. Breakfast can be taken inside the restaurant or outdoors, with background music chosen to start the day with the best energies. It is included in your reservation and is an American-style buffet, we also have fruits, juices, coffee, tea, and if you want to try other options you can do so through a letter designed to meet your expectations. The Cinema Paradiso takes place every Friday, with the intention that our guests and the Holbox community, can enjoy a movie in the moonlight, through a projector, with accompanying pop corn or ice cream as a courtesy. It is an experience that Ser Casasandra includes in your reservation, on Friday that you were in our hotel, everything was ready as usual, however the weather was not accompanied and since the afternoon it was rainy. And yes, again the weather plays against your expectations, we had a week where the north that entered affected our beaches, is the strongest that occurs in the year. Holbox is an island that protects its habitat and respects environmental measures, which prohibit the removal of the sargassum from the beach, however the team of Ser Casasandra every morning during that week worked on the beach so that guests could have the best view and the best possible access. Today and fortunately our beach is as beautiful as it usually is. The rates at Ser Casasandra include: -Welcome cocktail - American-style buffet breakfast, with a selection of natural foods, made with fresh ingredients of local origin and all the love that surrounds Ser Casasandra. - Drinks included in your room. -Meditation on Tuesday - Yoga classes, from Wednesday to Sunday in the quiet of our house, as a way of life that seeks well-being and inner peace. - Bicycles at your disposal to explore the Island. - Cinema Paradiso night, every Friday, to enjoy a movie suggested under the stars. There could be factors that hindered the work, but the transfer was answered in your emails and it was also explained how the situation occurred, the receptionist told you that they had an scheduled transfer so it was not canceled thinking you were aware of it . At Ser Casasandra every detail is taken care of so that the guest has the best possible experience, and we will always work more and with more love until all expectations are satisfied. We hope to have another opportunity to make your stay the best experience.

What a delight to be welcomed by the staff as we exited our taxi. A warm handshake and smile was extended to us as we walked up the wooden plank to this well appointed hotel. Every feature about this hotel is overwhelmingly positive. We stayed in one of the four rooms on the 2nd floor. The balcony provided a great view of the sea. The room was spotless and had everything one would need for comfort. Breakfast was tasty, dinner was out of this world - it was obvious the kitchen manager knew what he was doing to provide great food. Most of all, the staff were warm and attentive. I would go back to Hotbox if only to stay at Sea CasaSandra.

Dear lainiegai... The average cost for meals between 40 usd to 65usd per two adult persons. Some restaurants take credit cards, however my advice its to exchance some pesos at the airport. Now according to the bank of mexico the dollar its 1 USD = 18.65 pesos, in holbox the exchange rate now its 1USD = 16.00 pesos. So bring a little bit of both in chash beacuse its only a few ATM in the island and mostly of the time doesnt work or do not have money. Remember that in some places its better to pay in pesos and in other its better in USD. Once you arrive come to us and we will happy help you if you have anymore questions and be sure that we will do our best to make your stay the most memorable. With my best regards. Casa Sandra Team
