We absolutely loved our 2 night stay in July! It has been quite some time that a getaway felt so good.
For days I searched an option for myself, husband and our 2 dogs, and it was not easy. Despite many hotels claim to be pet friendly, it’s frequent to exist nonsensical restraints as weight limit (10kg??), or access restriction on top of outrageous fees to have our dogs with us.
I decided to call Octant Santiago do Cacém before booking. From the first contact, I felt welcomed, a complete breath of fresh air.
I couldn’t make a better pick: Hotel has a great location in Santiago, the service level is superb (staff is outmost profissional and friendly), the common areas (indoor and outdoor) from reception to dinning area are pleasant, bright and clean.
Rooms are cosy, and the pool is perfect for this warm days, with some relaxing music (low volume as it should be) for a perfect harmony with the environment.
The way our dogs were welcomed made all the difference in the world. They had a pet kit, with blankets and large pillows to sleep on, food, water and even a brand new toy (GIFT!) for them to chew. We were instantly smiling.
What a great pick, we are sure to come back! :)

Hotel excellent, and good facilities for children. Very clean, lovely setting and peaceful. Food good, excellent portions but main courses quite expensive. The breakfast was exceptional. We have recommended it to friends and one has already booked - we are hoping to return soon!
Lovely touches such as providing a duvet and pillow for our daughter's cot, a teddy, rubber duck for the bath and comforter as well as baby toiletries. A half bottle of wine and cheese/crackers was lovely to arrive to. The biscuits and chocolates in the room were lovely but it was not obvious we had to pay for them as part of the mini bar.
Very friendly staff and very good with children, however they are either inexperienced or not fully trained - they were often not around, or when asked for something (whether assistance at reception, something for the room or to order a drink or food) they would often disappear or take a long time.
As the hotel has an open kitchen and seating area and there are bottles of water and the coffee machine within the open restaurant setting, it would be useful for staff to give guests a quick tour to tell guests about how it works, what is free and what you have to pay for - we were not told that we had to pay for the filtered water bottles until we had had a few. We then went to the supermarket to buy some. It would be good to provide drinking water over and above the one bottle in the room. Also only once we saw other families doing it towards the end of our stay did we realise we could order our daughter's evening meal earlier than the restaurant opening time of 7:30pm, as for most of the stay she had to stay up much later than usual as we ate once the restaurant was open.

The space and concept is absolutely lovely. The food was the best we had in Portugal in one week & their pizza is fantastic. The staff was very kind and welcoming. We came down to have breakfast at 8:50 and most of the food was gone lol. So be early for your breakfast. The hotel can work a bit on their cleaning services and remove the cobwebs from the corners.

I was interested in the concept of this hotel and stayed here for this reason. The “cooking” kitchen concept is cool but unfortunately the service really let down the whole experience - my starter and main arrived together and so my pizza was taken away to sit under a heat lamp until I finished my gazpacho. When I indicated I was ready for my main, the arugula was picked off and fresh leaves put on before re-serving. The staff were clearly struggling with the number of guests . I requested extra water on my room which never arrived.
My service rating was increased due to Luis arranging a yoga mat for me to practice and the suggestion to use a private area of the gardens.

This is our third stay at this world-class boutique hotel. The staff are just amazing- welcoming and well-trained. Every room has a view of the picturesque village on the hill topped with a castle and the ocean in the background. Every meal we have enjoyed has been perfectly prepared with fresh local ingredients in the open kitchen and served by a lovely member of the staff. In the dining area, there is a huge fire place that is lit in the winter evenings, making the room cozy and warm. In the summer, there is a lovely ocean breeze blowing. Ancient Roman ruins just up the hill are a great place to explore. I highly recommend this gem of a hotel!

Poor service. I advised the front desk that my in room safe was not functioning and received a shoulder shrug. I also went the reception and showed photos of mold present in the bathroom, nothing was done about it. I stayed for 2 nights, the second day my room was never cleaned or made up, I advised the front desk at 4:00 pm and they said that they would advise housekeeping and they never showed up.

From the moment we walked in the service was outstanding. We were made to feel so welcome (as was out little dog). Nothing was too much trouble and the staff were very genuine. The view from the room was absolutely beautiful. The daily workshops were great fun and we learned a lot in a short space of time. I would highly recommend that you make the most of these workshops and if you have time take a class or two. This is what the hotel is really about. You learn a lot and the restaurant is definitely the hub of the hotel with a lot of interesting things going on. The vibe was relaxed and welcoming with our dog also being made to feel so welcome. Thank you! Our room was lovely. The bathroom was, if anything a little tired around the edges as were the carpets in the hallways on our floor. However, the ambience, the genuine friendliness and kindness of the staff made these little things seem very unimportant. The outside area was also lovely and relaxing. Definitely wouldn´t hesitate to recommend this little gem of a hotel. The food was outstanding and a glorious celebration of all things Alentejo and Mediterranean.

The concept of the hotel was very interesting for us but in the end it came out short. The meals at the À Terra restaurant were very good. However, the goal of having a clear view of the ktichen and watching the team work was not met. We were siting face to the open kitchen and we were unable to follow a single dish being prepared. We could understand where they were making the pizzas, but that was it. There was no good view or interaction which disapointed us. The hotel is nice and clean and the bed is confortable. However, it is lacking a lounge area that is needed when the rooms don't have a siting area inside. Also, the reception/bar/market ends up to being to much and nothing at the same time. In the end, positive experience but more expensive than we would expect for what we get. Good concpet but needs improvments on how to work that concept.

We spent 3 nights at the hotel. It was the perfect place to relax in a small city and explore Alentejo. The team was friendly and attentive, they answered all the questions and requests that we had.
The room was comfortable, clean and calm, with an amazing view - perfect for sunset watching!
We ate twice in the restaurant, the food was well done (great tasting and presentation). The team is small so it's more of a slower paced experience. But the friendly service and tasty fare was worth it!
Breakfast was well organised with a good variety of foods.
We really enjoyed our stay!

I recently stayed with a group of friends at this gorgeous, relaxed and happy hotel. All the rooms have a sunset view, they are very well decorated and extremely comfortable beds. The food is the highlight and a feature of the hotel with an open kitchen. There are no set meal times, so you can eat when it suits you. One of the best breakfast spreads I have seen! The hotel is on the cycle circuit and perfect for a short stop and a recharge. There is a beautiful swimming pool, outside barbeque area and in the summer there is always and activity to participate in, or not, should you wish. I can't wait to stay at their other hotels throughout Portugal.
