Small, new and well-kept hotel. The rooms are furnished in a modern style, not very large but very comfortable. The bathroom does not have a window but has a large shower. Despite being close to the railway and the motorway, it is so well soundproofed that you cannot hear any noise. The small breakfast buffet is constantly replenished, there is something for every taste and 5 homemade cakes! We had a very good time and can only recommend it

Small brand new structure, very beautiful and perfectly clean. Room and bathroom tastefully furnished and very functional. The breakfast was excellent and the girl present, Elisa, was very kind. The central heating was regulated perfectly. Parking is present, the location is slightly out of the way. The noises of the nearby motorway are slightly audible, but they are well dampened by the excellent quality fixtures.

Very welcoming place with attention to detail, very clean. Extremely helpful staff and attentive to customer needs. Comfortable and quiet rooms, the bathroom with a beautiful large shower. Breakfast is abundantly rich in homemade desserts and many gluten-free alternatives. Convenient parking and large, well-kept garden. We will definitely be back soon.

I stayed at the Hotel Rosengarten from 09/01 to 11/01 on the occasion of a small post-Christmas-epiphine holiday, reaching the town of Tarvisio by train to Boscoverde station.

I booked on 12/26 by calling the property directly, thus avoiding the "increases" of Booking.com and finding a discounted price of €110/night for a Double for Single Use.

Arriving in Tarvisio by public transport, I asked for a lift - in the days before departure - from the owner, Tiziana, who went out of her way to pick me up at the station and transfer me to the hotel: that was the only time I saw the " "mistress" of the house but I will return later.

The hotel is located approximately 8'/10' walk from the Tarvisio Boscoverde border station, easily reachable via a road that leads to an underpass at the back of the station itself; it is about 1 kilometer from the hamlet of Tarvisio Bassa (almost unreachable on foot given the difficult road) and essentially far from the town center (about 2 km).

The structure looks like the classic Friulian mountain house (previously it was a private home), with an "Austrian" style, a large garden and a decent parking lot. The hotel hall is a very narrow corridor where it is not possible to stop but only carry out "bureau" services. On the same first floor there are already some rooms (including the one assigned to me, number 2) and the breakfast room; on the ground floor there is the sauna/gym area (closed, to be booked in the morning or the day before), the television room and the "public bathrooms" (closed). Having been a private home, the hotel suffers from the compactness typical of private structures.

The room assigned to me, number 2, located in front of the breakfast room and the small reception, was a good size, with a King size double bed equipped with good sheets, good pillows and a warm quilt; there is a desk, a wardrobe without doors and a small minibar equipped with only two bottles of water (sparkling and still); the room was well heated using "classic" radiators and a regulating thermostat. The bathroom was of a good size, equipped with all the expected "courtesies" (soaps, shower gel, etc.) and equipped with good bathroom towels; the large shower provided - as "tradition" in nearby Austria - the water temperature regulator. All this, overall also of "higher" quality compared to the classification (3 stars) of the hotel, was unfortunately "ruined" by the presence in the room, right in front of the bed, of the emergency light in full "fire escape" style which emitted the classic unpleasant and annoying green light so bright and "powerful" that it illuminated the room in the middle of the night and did not allow, at least to me who sleeps only in complete darkness, to have a night of full and continuous sleep: I understand the safety but this is extremely excessive: the "matter" was resolved the following day by asking the "factotum" girl to place a piece of black tape on the light, thus allowing me absolute rest.

Breakfast, served from 08.00 to 10.30, is a strong point of the hotel: structured according to the "Kaiser Frühstück" rule ("imperial breakfast", which I love) provides, unfortunately, an "Italian-style" imbalance with a greater presence of sweets (very good, homemade and genuine) compared to savory which, although present and of quality, is in smaller quantities; very positive (especially for a three-star hotel) is the possibility of having "expressed" eggs, even if only fried or shredded (without cream). I also thank you for your availability in allowing me to have breakfast early on 10/01, at 07.30 as I had the train at 08.25 towards Villach.

The young lady, Elisa, is kind and competent, and does her utmost to keep the hotel alive and respond to customer needs.

Now we come to the "dark" notes which lowered this review to 3/5:

I'll start by saying that I chose the R. because, reading the various reviews, this hotel together with the Hotel Cervo (to which my thanks go) were the only two with good reviews and positive ratings: I was well aware that the structure it wasn't in the town center but having arrived by train and wanting to visit - on 10/01 - Villach and Lienz by public transport it was a good base near the station.

As I said at the beginning, upon arrival (and only in that case) on the evening of 09/01 I was accompanied from the Boscoverde station to the hotel by the owner, Tiziana, a lady from the South (Tarvisio is full of Southerners who have manages 3/4 of the hotels and many venues) who also "did her best" - after I settled into my room - to accompany me to the Miramonti restaurant, also showing me the route (to be done on foot) on the way back: a dark road, with snow and ice, without sidewalks: I understand that there were five of us in the hotel and that the bureau "closes" at 6.00 pm but, in my opinion, if you have a guest "at home" who arrived by train and therefore cannot move around easily, you "do your best" and you "organize" to bring your guest back to your facility after dinner; fortunately, as I have already expressed in another review, the owner of the Miramonti brought me back with the car avoiding (perhaps) falls etc.

Same "script" the following evening: returning to the hotel, after visits to Austria, at 5.20pm I find everything already closed: bureau closed and turned off with only computer access, "sleeping" hotel... I rang the intercom and the owner told me ( a little annoyed) to go around from behind; telling her that I needed to talk to her, she didn't show up but called me via Whatsapp and to my requests (basically a ride to the town center to eat and return to the hotel) she told me that she couldn't because, at that moment (and so who answered the intercom?), she had been out for 5 minutes to go to the doctor for a visit and that she "was sorry"; note: on 10/01, Wednesday, in the hamlet of Tarvisio Bassa everything is closed and excluding the station restaurant (which I was told to stay away from...) I would not have been able to go to any of the typical Friulian restaurants (already reduced to the bone) of the the city center being, as mentioned, 2 kilometers away and unattainable given the lack of bus connections; to overcome this problem I had to call the Hotel Cervo (where I would have liked to have dinner but, unfortunately, it was fully booked) who were very available for a "transfer" (private taxi) from the Hotel Rosengraten to the town center and vice versa to the cost of €20 return; I find it abnormal and unnatural that a hotel guest should ask another hotel for a lift because, in her case, the owner "has other things to do"! I can understand that, especially in winter, customers arrive by private car and - therefore - have the "freedom" to move around as they want but this does not justify the non-presence of someone in the evening, at least until 8.30/9.00 pm and it does not justify the "abandonment" of those customers who, arriving by public transport, cannot move "freely".

All this is linked, in general, to the practical absence of the owner during the day: it is absolutely true that, according to the law, the owner should never be seen but in a small or family-run establishment, where one can "save money" on staff, you shouldn't leave the structure "alone" even if you "only have one guest at home": don't you want to do that? Well, hire one more person as a secretary.

To close I would like to praise and say a big thank you to Elisa, a Travisana DOC, the "all-rounder" girl who, in those days, was the soul of the hotel and who allowed the structure to have a pulsating "heart" and human: from breakfast to cleaning, to reception (and, above all, thank you for not following the "notebook instructions"!); I applaud you for making my stay good and joyful.

I close everything by advising, in any case, to take advantage of the structure which, as well discussed, has many strong points and is advantageous but you did not expect (at least in winter and/or in the down periods) good or suitable treatment from the owner who , especially if you have the means, it will abandon you (almost) immediately; personally, if it were to happen to me, I will return to the structure by organizing myself with "third parties" for the trips.

Given last year's experience we returned as Tiziana's guests!
The Hotel is located in a brand new structure which has undergone a complete and modern renovation which has left nothing to chance: from the garden to the common areas, from the rooms to the external patio, and also to the sauna, everything is thought out, comfortable, modern, beautiful .
Nothing is missing, even if Tiziana, the owner, is a perfectionist who always tries to improve, saying that she has further implementations in mind!
The room assigned to us, on the first floor with balcony, was very modern, clean and spacious, with a very comfortable bed and a bathroom complete with everything you needed.
The morning breakfast, sweet and savory, had an excellent assortment, especially in the cakes personally prepared by Tiziana (who is an excellent cook) with a kind and attentive service from Elisa.
Finally, the price: absolutely cheap compared to the overall quality offered and perceived.
Special mention should be given to Elisa, the trusted factotum collaborator, always present and ready to recommend destinations, walks, locations and events.
The owner Tiziana, for her part, always willingly entertains guests, almost like among friends, with advice and indications, especially culinary, which are much appreciated!
Definitely satisfied, both for the location and hospitality, and for the countless walks offered by these places.

Highly recommended!!! Tiziana and Elisa are so cute, which is rare to find these days!! Excellent price, the perfect wellness center on rainy days. And then the breakfast with homemade products is a good start to the day. We hope to return soon.
