Very unimpressive and problematic stay. Though the location is near Waikiki beach the walk is an effort with the long lights and complicated intersections. Though one of the side of the hotel states there is a partial ocean view, it is very partial. The city Diamond Head side is much nicer and less money. The first of many issues is they charge a $ 35-a-day resort fee but this is not a resort in any way shape or form. There are no grounds to walk around whatsoever. There is no beach. There is no spa. There is a tiny poor restaurant that is barely open. The lobby is drab and tiny. The pool is small, and Hilton Garden Inns have bigger pools. The gym is minuscule. There is no shuttle anywhere. This is not a resort! The hotel needs a lot of updating. There is an effort ongoing. The hallways at dated and beat up as are the elevators. My first room was small and smelled really bad. I moved it to another room that was much better. But my large balcony was bolted shut due to construction but what makes it worse I saw no construction in the 5 days I was there. The rooms need updating as well but the bed is nice. They skimp heavily on toiletries giving the bare minimum. For how pricey this hotel is that is not ok. It feels like on every level you a being cheated. The lobby is tight and needs updating. The staff should be much more friendly and welcoming. They charge too much for parking at $50 a night. That might be standard for the area but for this hotel too much. Often I had to wait to get the Valet to show up. Since the entry is right off the street there were several pieces of luggage sitting there unattended while I waited for a valet to show up. If that my luggage I would have been upset. The restaurant on-site is called Trees. It is open for breakfast from 6-9:30 am. It is $29.95 per person and it is an awful breakfast. It is Hampton free breakfast but so much worse (Hamptons do a nice job now). The eggs were dry one day and another before closing they were out. I asked if they cooked eggs to order as the elevator picture shows friend eggs they said no and laughed. I asked can you make more eggs since you are still open but are out before closing. Their response well you need to arrive before 9:15 for that. Bare minimum fresh fruit and nothing local. Pastries are subpar. One flavor of yogurt. This is the bare minimum breakfast and a complete rip-off for the price. You can make your own waffles like Hamptons but only has one waffle maker. For the price, this is a joke, the quality is poor. Some days the staff were nice others borderline rude. They are open again in the evening but only until 8:30. There is a bar but that is an early closing for a bar. Did enjoy some drinks here and the bartender was great. As a Diamond member, many hotels now allow you to use your daily meal credit for food from the pantry especially when the restaurant is open for such limited hours. That is not the case here which is very disappointing. Since the restaurant has such limited hours they must avoid lots of the food allowance for their Hilton Honors members which is not paying them the respect they deserve. As well when asking do a late checkout I got only 30 minutes. The staff here have an attitude. Not once was there an acknowledgment of Diamond status as they are supposed to do or even a hello welcome. They seem quite disgruntled. One encouraged me to write complaints as he said the resort fee is a scam. On the opposite end though the housekeeping staff was so kind and friendly. Always a greeting and have a nice day. Avoid this place. Hopefully Hilton corporate will step in and require changes. Being a very loyal Hilton fan this was a huge disappointment and a waste of money. I love the brand but it has some places that need work to represent the brand the way it deserves.…
Had stayed at this Doubletree by Hilton a few times and each stay has more than met my expectations, including my most recent visit to this property. I love the fact that this DTbH is centrally located, the staff is always so welcoming and who can forget those warm chocolate chip cookies that Doubletree by Hilton is known for; the Hiiking Cafe that adjoins the hotel was also a great place for breakfast. (I forget the owners name, but she does have that same last name as me, anyway---she was awesome!!!)
Positive: Friendly staff, room is good size and relatively clean Negative: After I checked in and booked a corner room on line, they downgraded me to a room on a lower floor and not a corner room and with on going construction. That's not good business. You do not treat customers like that.
There are better hotels. find one. Here are some of the things we ran into: 1. A number of the electric sockets were so loose that the plaug would just fall out. This is a shock hazard. 2. There is a refrigerator in your room, but it can only be turned on for 2 hours at a time. 3. The bathroom has no counter space at all. Prepare to balance your toiletries on the toilet tank. 4. The shower leaves a puddle on the bottom because it does not drain properly. 5. The shower is a fall hazard because it is on a raised platform, and your foot is liable to slip when you have to step down. 6. If you have a car, parking will cost you $50 per night extra. 7. There is a buffet breakfast available, but it costs $30 per person.
Less expensive than hotels that are on Waikiki, but there's a reason for that. If you're in good shape and don't mind walking, it's close enough to the beach and shopping areas around the larger resorts. We choose this location because it's 5 minutes from where our son lives, but if we were coming to Honolulu as tourists, we'd probably look at other options. The staff are friendly enough, but the hotel is a bit outdated, and the restaurant has a very limited menu. It felt like the place was perpetually understaffed. In the end, it's OK for one or two nights, but I wouldn't recommend longer stays. you'll ultimately get more value elsewhere.
Check in was good friendly staff and bellhops are very nice. The rooms are not made for extended stays as there is no microwave but there is a mini fridge. Rooms are clean but televisions are small. The bar and restaurant in my opinion are not all that great actually kinda disappointing as there isn’t a big menu. If a bar can’t make a Bloody Mary to me it isn’t a bar and this place can’t do that so disappointing. The pool is honestly not very big and kinda small. There is construction going on and it’s hard to sleep during the day. Overall I’d give this hotel 3 stars.
Wait until this place gets their remodel. paper posted by the elevators say it is coming. it is very outdated decor. sliding doors to the balcony had gap in between so air and noise comes through. fitness center ceiling is too low, if you are tall don't think about using the weights. even though room was ready, front desk wanted me to pay to check in early. the balcony was good. and my room had enough room. to sit, walk and even work if you are there for business.
Stayed here for 6 days so far, currently extending stay. The team here are fantastic and the facilities are superb. Jungmin has a strong sense of ownership and responsibility coupled with politeness and a willngness to adapt to different customer needs. She is great. Rooms cleaned with precision. We are not easy customers to say the least but they have gone above and beyond to help. My dad is recovering from surgery and they have done evrything possible to make it comfortable for him. Every time I see them, they are looking after people so well. Beds are just lovely, delightful pillows, perfect for r & r. Pool and lounge area is good. Breakfast is for a king and queen. Air con is relatively quiet unlike many other hotels here. Want to dine outside, they've got you covered with map and locations for all types of cuisine, trips and shops. Can't say enough about it really. Thanks for all. Won't forget. They have made a real difference for me and my dad.…
I had the Absolute privilege of staying at this location for one week. The staff upon arrival is very warm and friendly and that tone of customer service was met everywhere in the hotel. They truly embodied the Hawaiian spirit of friendliness and always willing to give you great advice on things to do, eat and see. This hotel is within walking distance of the beach and all the excitement of Waikiki and right off the bus line if you choose to take the bus. I would absolutely stay at this property again based on location and customer service. I encourage you to book this hotel For your Hawaiian stay.
I’m currently staying here and the hotel is just okay. The staff specifically the valet are awesome! Super friendly and ask us how our day is going. The front desk male employee (didn’t catch a name) not as approachable. It’s close enough to the beach and main things to do in Waikiki. My biggest complaint is they are doing construction. I didn’t see that when I booked on the Hilton app. My husband and I are here for our honeymoon and hate hearing all the noise right outside our window. Like literally right below us. This is something you might need to consider when staying here since it’s going on till September.
