Highly recommended! As a Hawaii resident, The Equus was a great 'stay-cation' for me. Excellent price, comfort, and quality, but especially the staff, whom are not just courteous, but genuinely friendly, with a great Aloha spirit. Specifically Linelle, who helped me with the room's remote controls. ;) The only negative comment I have is that the parking situation was not great, but parking downtown is always problematic anyway. Just be prepared to be paying extra anywhere in this area.

I had a very quick stay at The Equus while on a two day layover in Honolulu. The staff is incredibly friendly, you can count on them for all recommendations of best spots for breakfast, or which beach to go to. Linelle, Linette and Lincoln were super thoughtful and helpful. Thank you all, I hope to come back soon once the baby is out. :)

ok, the bad first: NO BREAKFAST INCLUDED! I booked this mainly because TripAdvisor says "free breakfast, breakfast included' this is not true! We did not have breakfast included. you can buy, but all it is, it's a prepackaged croissant or sandwich. Not worth it. go to Mcdonald's around the corner instead. Elevator: There is only one! be prepared to wait a lot. We were on the 9th floor and ended up using the stairs many times (downwards) as it was a lot faster. Pool: looks great, but is a lot smaller than it appears in the picture. we never used it. Rooms are nice, wish they would add a desk so you can use a laptop :( furniture is 'boutique' and not much room to pack away your things. Small closet could use a few more hangers (we had only 4) Resort fee? well, this is not a resort. So not sure why they ask for this fee (probably to get away with lower room rates). The only thing we got out of this resort fee was wifi. (would have rather saved 6x $29 resort fee and used my phone data..) Parking: only a few spots are available at $30/day (or night, not sure) . Was able to use street parking (free) but you might have to walk 5-10 minutes. The good: location, refrigerator in room, coffee machine in room, nice staff, price, the bar is nice. room cleaning is very good Yes, would probably go there again with different expectations..

If you're looking for a cookie cutter corporate resort property just keep looking; this place isn't for you. If, on the other hand, you're looking for a unique, locally-owned place with some character, this is your spot. The building itself has a classic beach-hotel vibe, with lots of open-air spaces. My room was great--it was spacious, clean, and the bed was one of the most comfortable hotel beds I've ever slept in. The real star of this place is the staff, though. Everyone was universally excellent. Linette and Lincoln at the desk were great, making sure I was checked in ok, had everything I needed, and holding my bags for me after checkout before my late flight home. Yulia at the bar was great, too. Special shout out to Matt at the bar; this dude is the real deal and he'll make you feel like you're walking into Cheers. He makes great drinks, has great recommendations for local spots, and is just super welcoming, making the little bar a really special place to hang out. Thanks also to the staff whose names I didn't catch--my room was always clean and well tended to. This place has a vibe that you won't find in any other hotels in the area. If that's how you like to travel than this place is worth your time. I would 100% stay here again, and I hope I have the chance in the future.

We just wrapped up a wonderful 5 night stay at the Equus! One thing is for sure, this hotel THRIVES in the hospitality department. The purpose of our stay was to celebrate the life of our late aunt. I had the chance to chat with Kolette and Rene for a few minutes before leaving for a day of adventure. Upon our return we met Matt at the paniolo bar in the lobby of the hotel where he served us complimentary cocktails while we waited for my sister to park the car. Such a sweet gesture. Perfect location entering Waikiki. We LOVED our stay and I will definitely recommend the Equus to friends traveling to Oahu.

Renee and staff were extremely accommodating to our requests and incredibly helpful. Many hotels out there are only about the numbers, but Renee and team are real people that understand their customer's needs. Thank you Renee and team!
