Ala Moana Hotel by Mantra will commence a refurbishment of our ground floor lobby, pool deck and landscaping starting February 25th, 2020. The project will be completed over three phases, with the main reception lobby due to be finished by the second week of April and the Starbucks lounge following in the first week of June. Unfortunately the swimming pool will be closed from the beginning of March 2020 until the beginning of June, as we transform this space. We thank you very much for your patience and understanding during this exciting project.

The room was clean and stocked with everything that was needed for our stay. I didn't realize how small the bathroom was- if you are over 6ft, I wouldn't recommend because of how small the shower is. The design is geared towards a shorter person. height- 5'4" and smaller. Other than that, the room was nice and clean.

I enjoyed my stay. Our room was great and had a beautiful view. Also, it was peaceful, not a lot of noise in the hallways. Breakfast was a little bland at the hotel, but there were many other places to eat close by. The Signature is a little overrated for the dine in meal, but the happy hour is a good value, and in a great location. We experienced both. I enjoyed the shopping close by as well as the breach in walking distance. I think I would visit again for a few days and then travel to see more of Hawaii.

Predictable hotel, with Aloha spirit, great location and reasonable price. Interconnected via sky bridge to the Ala Moana shopping center, walking distance to Ala Moana park, nice exercise room and pool area, and full service Starbucks in the nice lobby. While the rooms are small, helpful conveniences are packed-in, including micro-kitchenette, desk and even a small couch in one-bed units. While parking is available, it is limited and can be expensive. Some construction is underway on one of the tower wings.

The staff were very robotic. There was no warmth. Asking a question seems irritable for them. Even the staff in the boutiques were not warm. Only the staff of the pool and restaurants were very nice. Our rooms were ok. The bed was comfortable. But the AC was very noisy. The bathroom was ok, but the curtains were smelly. The building foundation are cracking, soon it needs to be renovated certain areas. Overall, it was an average stay.

The staff were brilliant. Location was great being next to Ala Moana shopping centre and across the road from Ala moana beach park and magic Island. Short walk to Waikiki. The room was pretty small. Be careful which tower you book. The Kona tower has small rooms and no balconies although the photos make it look like it has a balcony. Tried to check the Waikiki' towers rooms for future bookings but was not allowed ( their loss, I travel to Hawaii every year). The rooms were very clean ( although I found some, shall we say,INTERESTING things under my bed. Thank God the sheets had been changed). Nice to have a bathroom with a bath although people with mobility problems could have a problem as baths are pretty deep. Best of all was how quiet it was, elevators were quick to respond ( some hotels are slow as hell) and the friendly staff. The absolute best of all was 4 magic words ....resort use fee included.... Keep not charging that absolute rip off and im there forever. Will stay again IF they let me check the other tower.

Aloha cormacw2020, First off, my sincerest apologies for missing that detail under the bed. That's not something we take lightly and will address with our team. Upon completion of the exterior works of the hotel, our Kona towers will be able to access the Juliette Balcony on those rooms. Having those doors wide open will make a world of difference. cormacw2020, I welcome the opportunity to tour you through our Waikiki accommodations the next time your in town. Between your frequent travels and our alignment with Accor Live Limitless we might have the start of something special here. Mahalo again for your feedback.

This is a very nice hotel, well located being close to restaurants, Waikiki center (you will need to walk about 25 minutes) and close to the Ala Moana Park and beach. This is a very big hotel, very busy and at times it even gets a little difficult to get by as there is so many people. As far as the service, there was many inconsistencies in how the staff responded. I arrived late on the Friday night after having travelled over 22 hours and the greeting was underwhelming to say the least. Polite, but not warm or welcoming as I would have expected. I had reserved a room with partial ocean view in the Kona tower. Big mistake as I quickly found out that partial ocean view actually meant full on parking view with a very small glimpse of the ocean with no balcony. The following day I asked to be upgraded to the Waikiki tower and they were able to make the switch but with an extra fee, which was fine. I was in Honolulu for both work and holidays. I found out last minute that there was going to be a power outage at the hotel for a full day. It was a day that I had to work out of my room. The let guest know by leaving a note in your bedroom and that's that. Even saying that guests should make their own arrangements the following day since there was going to be no power, no A/C and almost no elevators to service us. They were able to accommodate me after waisting over 3 hours of my day as they moved me to a higher floor that would not be impacted. I had to move all my things for the second time. On the positive side, the spa was great, the employees at the pool were always so nice, the room is comfortable and if you do get a room on the Waikiki tower side with an ocean view, it is pretty spectacular! The Ala Moana shopping center being right next to the hotel was also quite convenient if you wanted something to eat and have a relaxing night at the hotel. I would recommend to go to local markets to buy souvenirs, they are pretty much the same as they are selling everywhere but much cheaper. All in all a great stay, but they could definitely increase the level of service, if felt like the experience at the front desk was sometimes good and at times not so good. They have to be reminded that people are there for an experience and the impression they leave can be long lasted. This hotel is not cheap, people are spending money there and in return a smile, a welcoming attitude and feeling a little special makes a big difference. All in all, it was still a good experience and would still recommend it.

Aloha U2293KAchristinel, My sincerest apologies that our emergency repairs had such and impact on your stay. Your feedback is graciously taken on board to see how we can provide arrangements or referrals to our guests impacted by this type of repair work. Our messaging was done with the most conservative timeline with the best interest of our guests in mind however I can see how that was not the case in this instance. I appreciate the time you took to provide this review and we hope to welcome you back on your next trip to Honolulu. Mahalo,

The Ala Moana is a very nice hotel that is centrally located in Honolulu. You can walk to the Ala Moana Center (huge mall), the Ala Moana Park and beach, the Convention Center and many restaurants. Our room was like any other room hotel room with a balcony and it was clean with comfortable beds. The one, pretty major, issue we had during our stay was that we were informed that maintenance was needed and our building was going to lose power the next day from 7am until 4pm! No air conditioning or anything! We were only told the day before the outage. When I asked if the hotel would compensate us for basically losing an entire day in our room, the staff regrettably said "no". Even the lobby had no a/c and people were sweating and only one out of 6 elevators were working. This had to be a fire hazard for a hotel with 30+ floors! I just wish that we had been informed of this outage prior to our arrival and given the opportunity to book a different hotel. I would think twice before deciding to book here again.

Aloha baeballm, Thank you for providing this review of your Ala Moana Hotel by Mantra experience. Our sincerest apologies that you lost so much of your day to this unexpected maintenance event. As it was an emergency repair, our messaging was drafted and shared at the earliest possible moment with conservative timelines to the loss of power, A/C and elevators. Fortunately, the repairs we made in such a timely manner that elevators were not impacted for more than 5-10 minutes and A/C was restored by 9am. My apologies that our conservative timelines in our messaging ended up impacting your day so greatly. I would be happy to discuss your experience further if we could arrange a time to speak. Please feel free to connect with me at matthew.mcguigan@alamoanahotel.com to arrange a time to speak on this. Mahalo,
