Nice, Simple, and Great Location nearby to everything! Reception staff were top notch and helpful given we had a kid as well and provided a toaster, crib, and extra towels whenever we called front desk. Love their boutique hospitality!

We stayed at this hotel for the first two nights of our trip and then returned for the last night as well. Unfortunately there was not availability over the weekend dates to accommodate our group, but we would have stayed here the whole trip if we could have! Staff were very friendly and kind to interact with. Lobby and hallways were clean and airconditioned, just like the rooms. Each room was equipped with an electric bidet that had a heated toilet seat and functions for heated water and drying (this was a high bar to set for majority of our group’s first bidet experience). The kitchenette in some room types was very valuable for having instant oatmeal breakfasts to cut down on some of our meal costs. We didn’t get the chance to try out the pool but we did take advantage of the beach/pool towel check-out service offered.

Room Tip: Parking is very limited in this area. I would suggest relying on ubers, walking, or single day...

So you are aware. We rented a car come to find out no parking on-site it’s a 5 plus minute walk away. Fees for parking are high. Once we arrived also we were told we had to pay a resort fee per day as well. I am disabled and the elevator doesn’t work. Rooms are ok. Noise from the road is very loud. Staff does nothing to make things right. Makes excuses and says it is ok. That means nothing to me. Won’t ever recommend nor stay again.

We stayed here for 10 days to help my mother-in-law clear up her condo in Honolulu. We're very happy with our stay - nice remodeled clean bathroom, excellence service from the front desk to the service staff - all very friendly and helpful. The location can't be beaten. I've been to many surrounding hotels in Honolulu for vacation stays before including Ritz Carlton nearby, and I never realized that there were so many places to eat within walking distance and you can get any daily necessities at Longs/CVS in a few minutes walk. Highly recommended!

We loved our stay at the Polynesian Residences! Super close to all the main areas of town, and pricing is much more affordable. It is a bit loud facing the street but we had no issues with a set of earplugs when needed. We did not rent a car and this hotel was located close to all bus routes, less than 5 mins walk for all. Within 10 minutes you can access a few beaches and the main shopping areas. Tons of amazing food around as well. Staff were welcoming and helpful. Beach towels and chairs available for day rental for free! Wifi was great, showers had good pressure and hot hot water (important to me!). Highlights were definitely the kitchenette (microwave, minifridge, toaster, Keurig with pods, 2 stovetops, pots/pans/utensils all provided). Hawaii can be expensive so having an option to cook was amazing- we used this a lot! We also loved the toto toilet. In our room we could not access outlets easily so bring a long charging cable. No hair dryer but not a deal breaker as Hawaii is so hot (we also didn't ask for one so they might provide). We used the luggage storage after checkout which was convenient for late flights. Only went to the pool briefly but a nice spot to relax without crowds. Would absolutely come back here if I am in Waikiki again, we love love loved it!

Stayed for 12 days in December. Usually stay at the other end of Kalakaua by the Marriott and Aston. The rooms were spacious and clean. There was an led mirror, shower, and large counter for your amenities. There was a mini fridge which we stocked our fruit, drinks, and salads in. We used the microwave to warm up cinnamon buns one day. The cupboards were fully stocked. The kitchenette also had two burners and a sink. Our queen beds were comfy. We had a desk and chair alongside our window. The blackout curtains were excellent to block out the early morning sun. The balcony was small and overlooked the Main Street below. The staff was very friendly and helpful right to checkout. The pool area was clean and vacant. We were a 10 minute walk from fort de russy beach and not much further to the Hilton Hawaiian village. The beach walk was just around the corner. Shops and restaurants were a short walk away including abc, longs, Hard Rock Cafe, Tommy Bahamas, etc. The Royal Hawaiian Centre and the International Market place were about 10 minutes walk from the hotel. The trolley and bus stops were within walking distance too.

DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!!! 871535719 This place was absolutely HORRIBLE! I stayed here November 28th to December 3rd of 2022. And the fire alarm went off every night of my stay! The manager repeatedly lied as to why it’s was going off….was told someone was smoking, someone cooking. I was offered $20 for my inconveniences.

This hotel stay was part of a package deal I booked with flights and hotel on Kauai as well. So, maybe I got what I paid for or lacked to pay for. When I think of a "boutique", like ones we have reserved in Europe, I think of quaint, homey, like-family type stays. This was not the case here. Had it not been for the front desk receptionist, Lou, my review would be lower. Her personal touch to help look up something on the internet or research a question for me was above and beyond. She recommended a local coffee shop, too. This young lady is what made our stay worth it. Although I am charged a daily resort fee it was clear housekeeping would come every three days. If I need a change of towels I could come to the front desk and exchange them out. So, I did, and also asked for coffee refills. Well, the coffee refill would cost me $1.00 per k-cup or I would need to request room cleaning the next day and they would provide coffee refills then, for free. Really? We know the fire alarm works. After a 12:37AM evacuation, we all remained outside for more than an hour. Once the six police cars, two unmarked cars and the fire truck left we all assumed we could return to our rooms. Nothing was ever said, explained, verbally or written about what happened.

So if you are like us and don't like big high rise hotels and feeling like you are in the middle of the urban jungle but yet want to be close enough to everything and still appreciate some amenities of a traditional hotel and don't want to pay a tone for all of it then The Polynesian Residences are for you - if you however are looking for something that will be bringing you breakfast to the room or have a freshly squeezed orange juice from the tree in the backyard garden then this is not a place from you - do your research so you get what you like, I will try to help you here decide; Location: you are about 30m super easy drive from the airport - on the edge of Waikiki, allowing you perfect access to everything in Waikiki yet without being surrounded by just the buildings - right next to a small park area/USPS/big parking lot - the walk to the beach is under 5 minutes for great sunsets, some water fun, food etc. - I heard a few times that Waikiki area is pretty small but I didn't realize how easy it would be to walk through it to check out all the food places, points of interest etc. so if you don't have a car you are fine, and if you do you are on the edge of it with an easy exit - the best of both worlds. See more details below on hotel grounds. You are across the street from ABC Stores (great Hawaiian chain that provides anything you may need in the room, including delicious musubi!) Hotel grounds: the hotel is within a building that shares walls with the other business adjacent to them - it's easy to miss it really if you don't know it's there and this is probably the only part I wasn't crazy about, namely the fact they have no spot in the front to park the car for a second to unpack - if you took a taxi then you are fine but if you rent a car you either have to "risk" a ticket (we did it on the way out as we were already familiar with the set up but it wasn't easy upon arrival) or do what we did, first stop by at the hotel to pick up up the parking pass (about $180 USD for 5 nights on top of the the $24 daily resort fee, parking being of course optional) and went to the parking lot to bring out luggage in 2 attempts - it was challenging in the heat of the day but not the end of the day... again if you arrive via taxi etc. this doesn't affect you. Inside the building there is a small lobby + mini "lounge area" plus the swimming pool - there is no complimentary water or coffee here, the resort fee is low and it covers basics like toiletries to your room and beach towels/pool towels . There is an elevator and an open air staircase - we loved the latter feature as we only use the elevator during check in and check out Room: we first got the street side rooms on the 2nd floor - where a bit surprised as it didn't look as good as on the pictures... the noise wasn't bad but we did not look through the window at all as all you saw was the main street with the ABC Store, Burger King and Gucci Store (yea this is like a Chicago Magnificent Mile area type of street)... overnight we learned that there is a leak in the wall from A/C and got moved to another room on floor 5 with the view towards the ocean - that's where things got "great" :) the room did look like on the pictures, it felt like it got a recent touch up + the view was cool - a good advice, every Friday in the evening Hilton by the oceanfront is doing fireworks - we didn't know and learned about it from our window :) super cool to chill in the room and see that without even going to the beach! Each room has a safe, its own wifi (the 2nd room's one didn't work so we used the one's we shared the wall with as the passwords are pretty self explanatory:P), central A/C was a welcome feature and the room kept pretty cool overnight and even during the day when A/C was off - I have attached the OLD ROOM and NEW ROOM pictures with descriptions so you can see the difference - also for some reason the floor 5 looked much better than floor 2 in the hallway :) As mentioned before the building is "sharing" the wall with Tommy Bahama restaurant next door that does some live music almost every night and 1 or 2 nights it was a bit annoying when some "terrible" singer sounded like he was drunk :) Beach & Swimming pool: we used the pool once or maybe even twice, pretty refreshing and nice little cozy area, the pictures don't give it justice - I think this is the coziest part of the hotel, it feels secluded from the outside world and if not for the views from the upper floor you would not know there is all of the Waikiki around you and the roads surrounding the area. As to the beach, your easy less than 5 minutes walk down to the beach on a sidewalk will take you to Fort Derussy Beach Park - you can then go to many other beaches of the area or even the Hilton Lagoon - if you rent a car and want to see the best beaches of Oahu I recommend you go to the east side to Kailua Beach Park/Lanikai Beach - these waters/beaches there are the prettiest ones we have come across in our 3 weeks between the 4 main islands Food & Restaurant options: there are so many options here to visit so I am not going to be saying it for you here but will tell you this; the hotel doesn't provide any hot tea, coffee etc., there is no vending machine either so you are on your own with the food and drinks/water - each room has a nice mini fridge so plenty of room to store your stuff like beer, water, pop, wine - we loved that since we drove out during the day and in the morning always walked around to check out the local cafes - our favorite two were the Honolulu Coffee & Kona Coffee Purveyors; we loved also grabbing Musubi to go from ABC Store (sooooo many of them around!) or Musubi Cafe (also multiple locations), there is literally everything here you may desire walking distance, you name it they have it! Things to do: so without the car you have the beaches, restaurants, some local statutes and monuments + you can always book yourself a tour (although hotel doesn't offer them right outside of the hotel there are numerous businesses offering/selling them). Now with the car... that's a different story - make sure to go to Diamond Head, check out Makapu'u Vista stop (or even the trail), go to Kailua/Lanikai for the Hawaii's most beautiful beaches (or do the Pillbox Hike!), go to Kohana Rhum Distillery, or Koolau Whiskey Distillery, of course stop at Pearl Harbor (short or long, I think everyone can find something here), check out the north shore with its big wave enthusiasts, the food trucks, the vistas... there is so much going on Oahu that staying just in Waikiki makes no sense... and I think this hotel all to do it all, do both worlds, inside and outside of Waikiki! Overall: I actually didn't care for coming to Oahu at first, I always wanted to see Kauai and Big Island but once we added Maui it made sense to stop in Oahu as well... as it turned out we liked them all and I actually see myself staying again in Oahu with a layover on future trips which is something I can't say about the other 3 islands despite having a great time on them as well, it's just how this trip played out thanks to the location/hotel we stayed in - like I said it's the best of both worlds without breaking the bank and at the same time without sacrificing the quality of your vacation!
