Located in the heart of Waikiki Beach, Stay Hotel Waikiki is within a block of the ocean and the newly renovated International Market Place. Also nearby are shopping on Kalakaua Avenue, the Honolulu Zoo and Diamond Head. We offer a 24-hour business center with free use of our business center computers. In addition, Stay Hotel Waikiki provides complimentary wireless Internet access. Some rooms include balconies with views. All guestrooms feature flat-panel televisions with cable channels.
The Stay Hotel was a perfect place for our stop over in Honolulu without costing a fortune. The location is excellent! Right by the Waikiki strip and basically a block away from the beach. The hotel itself is a little dated, but it was clean and the staff were nice!

Pictures are photo shopped. Don't be fooled by these. Room was really, really smelly. Couldn't open balcony door as it would come off the rails. Bed was saggy each side where person slept. No cupboards or drawers to unpack. Bathroom when you turned the shower on in the bath (yes bath), the bath tap would come on with hot water. No way to turn it off and no plug. So very noisy, no cups, glasses for drinks. There was a wardrobe, but the doors wouldn't shut. The curtains were too short for the windows. This place even arranged the room to be bug sprayed whilst we were there. Definitely wouldn't return to this place!!!!!!!!!! Only upside was close to the beach.

The is a 1.5 star hotel at best. I’m really shocked that is has any of the good reviews it does, it’s because of those reviews I feel deceived. This hotel is motel 6 caliber. From the bed of springs to the flat pillows n horrible bedding. Insect traps behind the 1980’s furniture(what little they have, crusty desk and beat up shelf for mini fridge & microwave) the curtains are see throw and not even long enough to cover windows entirely, they are hung by a cheap piece of wire. No safes for valuables no do not disturb signs. The beach towels they give out are crusty little pink ones that were embarrassing to even pull out on the beach. The bathroom sink felt/looked like it was about to give way and I was scared the mirror bathroom was going to fall on me. ZERO storage space in the bathroom, that goes for the entire room. The rack that holds the towels was covered in rust which really sucked because there was no hooks for the towels so you really had no other option. They should be ashamed charging what they do and trip advisor should be checking up on properties to ensure customer/guest experiences. I fell so deceived. I had to spend 5 days in this dump. STEER CLEAR!!…

Response from Carolyn Ncube, General Manager at Stay Hotel Waikiki
Responded 22 Feb 2023
Aloha Anisha, Mahalo nui loa for taking the time to share your feedback. You're seeing numerous positive reviews from verified guests on other online travel sites because they've in fact had amazing experiences at our hotel. From our many returning guests to our happy new ones, our reputation for excellent guest service proceeds us and brings top value to the overall experience. Experienced travelers know that sometimes expectations can be missed at the first impression but that a simple visit to the Front Desk can and will put things right. We are able to room switch guests from smaller rooms to larger units upon request and for a nominal upgrade fee. Waikiki is a top visitor destination in the world and you are visiting the islands during whale watch season, which is peak. Off-peak season is generally from late September through mid-October. We are looking forward to refreshing the form and function of our hotel property. Hawai'i is a not a market where motels exist. Thank you again for letting us know your feelings about your experience. Mahalo nui loa, Carolyn Ncube General Manager Stay Hotel Waikiki

Location is great. The staff are good but lots of noise, pollution, and outdated amenities. AC started not working on the first day was relocated to another room with ease. Different layouts in every room.

My 1st room the air conditioner was so loud i videotaped it to show the desk person. there were no comparable rooms available, and she had to Phone a manager to get permission to upgrade me. The new room air conditioner was set at 66 degrees and the remote or face controls would not adjust the Temperature or shut it off. it blows at your face while in bed, had to block it with a suitcase. There is a desk but no chair of any kind in the room or on the balcony. The bed was horrible you could feel every spring in it. You are not notified until arrival that parking is $45.00 a night. Public parking lot is 3 blocks away. There are no light blocking curtains so light pours in 24 hours a day.

Stay Hotel gets a star for cleanliness and room 701 gets a star for the view. Staff was friendly, as well. Tried to use their Roku to watch a movie, but ISP wasn’t up for the job. There is no in-room coffee maker. The worst part was the bed, though. That alone was enough to knock 3 stars off the review here. Both I and my partner slept terribly on the mattress and I woke up barely able to walk. I would have been better off sleeping on the floor. Front desk associate assured me she would inform the manager. I between her and this review, the next guest experience will be far better than mine.

The staff was friendly, professional, and accommodating!! The hotel was clean and amenities were just fine. The room was terrible. There was no chair for the desk, no lounge chair, no seating on the balcony. The only place to sit was the bed and the toilet, and they were both extremely uncomfortable. I could feel every spring in the mattress and the air conditioner was literally 30 inches away and blew in my face as I slept. I'm a budget traveler with few expectations from a budget hotel...but a chair to sit in and a bed to sleep in is requisite.

When you stay at a hotel that has a roach trip in the room...does anything else need to be said? Okay, great location. Also, a super fun bar (Wang Chung's) inside the lobby, one of the best in Waikiki. After that...blah. The bed was comfortable, except for the fact that my feet hung off the bed....and I'm just a medium-tall person. Pancakes at IHOP thicker then their pillows...and I'm barely exaggerating. TV never worked. There were big rainstorms, which was their excuse....but after 3 days of bright sunshine, still no tv. Even then, there's so little furniture in the room that you can't even see the TV cuz the lamp covers it up...you have to place the lamp on the floor to see the TV, when it works. Finally...manager....PLEASE stop pulling your mask down to speak with guests. You should know better.…

Total dump..I don't know who would be insane to give this place more than one star. Dirty, slow service. They advertise there's no resort fee but throw in a random 11$ fee for what? Major regret but luckily only here for one night. Better take your business to any hotel down the street and for 20-30 more you can stay somewhere decent.

Response from Carolyn Ncube, General Manager at Stay Hotel Waikiki
Responded 9 Sep 2021
Aloha Daniel, Mahalo nui loa for taking the time to share your feedback. We appreciate opportunities to hear how we can improve our guests' experiences. Waikiki is a unique destination market where nearly all hotels charge what is called a daily amenity fee, which is synonymous with what our online travel partners call "resort fees." Due to the pandemic, our amenity fee is actually discounted at only $10 plus tax per day and covers guest conveniences such as beach towels, recreational beach equipment, coffee service, newspaper service, DirecTV with premium channels, WiFi, and use of our business center. Most hotels in our market charge upwards of $15 plus for the same amenities. I have brought your comments to the attention of our hotel team, and we will use them in our training sessions. We hope that you continue to have happy and safe travels going forward. A hui hou, Carolyn Ncube General Manager Stay Hotel Waikiki

Definitely a budget hotel. Very old and run-down. We could not change the temperature on the a/c. The remote was very finicky. Carpet stains everywhere. I canceled a reservation at another hotel to switch to this one based on reviews. Worst decision ever. Yeah, it's close to the beach, but I would gladly walk farther than stay at this place. I am so happy we were only stuck here for one night. Won't be staying here again. Stay at your own risk.
