Based on my experience no changes are necessary. The resort and restaurants are great. I highly recommend this resort. It is great for kids and the beach is easy for little ones to enjoy. The dolphin experience is great and I highly recommend it.
If you dont care for the waikiki scene, this is the place for you. Its almost like landing on Maui, and taking the Highway to Hana, Leaving the hustle and bustle of La Hina and such behind, including all the crowds, and driving back in time to a more serene time when Hawaii was more Aloha and less Go go go... relax and unwind
We have stayed at The Kahala Hotel & Resort a few times now, and the experience is consistently excellent. The rooms are very nice, with very attentive housekeeping staff. The grounds are beautiful, with both access to a nice pool and the beach; the dolphins in the lagoons provide nice company while lying by the pool! The breakfast buffet is one of the best on the islands, serving both Western and Asian options; service at the restaurants are outstanding.
We treated our family to this stay and it's a great place to be with two little kids. It wasn't very crowded, and it made it very relaxing. Private beach and the pool at your doorstep, great room with spacious bathroom, and kids especially lived the dolphin pool. We had however a couple of miscommunications with staff, the hostess lady at nearby pool restaurant (beach grill) was rude when approached and not willing to assist. Other than that we loved our experience!
I stay at this hotel regulrarly when I visit friends in Honolulu. I love its location away from the crowds of Waikiki and I absolutely love the staff. At every point of service staff members are not only very helpful but very personable and friendly. In my last few visits I have noticed that the hotel in general could benefit from much needed restoration. The carpets, and rooms are showing wear; from small things like scuffed walls, to bigger issues such as dated bathrooms, rusted ironworks, worn carpet, and worn pool chairs and towels.. I love the old Hawaiian elegance of the building but it's moving toward rundown. There is a boarded up part of a stairway that's been in place at least a year. One of these things wouldn't bother me but with each visit, I see more repairs needed. There is so much to love about the Kahala, I just feel for the prices the upkeep of the resort needs to stand up to the cost and I don't feel it does.. …
Thank you for having us, we will be back again soon. The food was magnificent, the pool and beach was a vibe. Only if we came when it was hot it would’ve been more enjoyable. We appreciate all staff again thank for having us
Dolphin Quest is on the property. There is a very small pool area where 6 dolphins live. One father and his sons. They breed this dolphin with a female dolphin that they fly back and forth from Oahu to the Big Island. Had I known this I absolutely would not have stayed at this hotel. I did not realize this until well after we had checked in and walked the property. This should be advertised and disclosed on the very first page of the hotel website not under “experiences”. Essentially by staying at this hotel we have contributed to the problem, and it makes me sick. Maybe 20 years ago an attraction like this could help the hotel sell rooms but with it being a 5-star hotel, in a prime location away from busy Waikiki beach the property can sell itself without having to use captured Atlantic dolphins.…
Please make your hospitality more than before covid .actually I felt regret to stay here. Nowadays, this hotel has only history but doesn’t have a hospitality for customers. Please look back your behavior thanks
Reserved an Ocean Front Suite for about $2k/night. Welcome amenities included a couple plastic-wrapped cookies and a plate of mushy fruit. The room had stained furniture and comically dated decor. May have been original paint and tile. Poorly thought-out interior - no side tables by sofa, no foot rests for balcony chairs. Package included buffet, but not a la carte, so even for $2k per night, you pay extra if you want berries. Bar closed early, which was fine, since the wine list wasn't good. Inconsistent water temperature in the shower, so either too hot or too cold. Bottom line: I feel like we were sold a luxury experience the hotel simply didn't deliver on in any way. And the location is inconvenient.
We love it here! It is a luxury retreat and the rate normally corresponds to that but considering the special they were offering and that 20yrs being married was a big thing for us, we decided to splurge. Check in was smooth, the front desk agent very professional, welcoming and thorough. The room was spacious and comfortable, great amenities but after a while, we noticed that there was an odor coming from the toilet area, easy enough to ignore but it was there... The view was incredible, we booked for the dolphin lanai and were able to watch the dolphins all day! The room layout was a little strange. If the bed were on the opposite side of the room and the TV on the wall across, it would have offered a view of the lagoon from the bed and a straight view. The bed & temperature was very comfortable and the amenities were generous! We did room service the first night, which is expected to be a little pricier than the other venues so we were ok with paying $100 for 2 burgers and the abalone appetizer. Service was good and timely. We also visited the pool and had lunch there. Service was ok, but for the pricing, I would have expected more attendants. Even with the call button, it took a while to get service and the food took quite a while as well. I think the server was working alone and it was sometimes hard to get his attention. We had our anniversary dinner at Anancini..Wow, the food was AMAZING! We had a few appetizers. The Fried Calamari was impressive, breading was light and crispy, not oily at all but the calamari was super soft and flavorful. The best I ever had!! We also had the caccio de pepe and funghi pizza. The caccio de pepe was a first for us and we were impressed with how nice the simplicity was. The variety of mushrooms on the pizza were well cooked and the crust had a nice crisp but chew to it. It all came together so well, I was stuffed after my first slice but would have eaten it all myself if I didn't have any self control!! it was busy for a Tuesday night and a little hard to get service, could have been more attentive...food was a little on the pricey side but it was a great food experience for sure! Best and most thoughtful part of the stay, on the 2nd day of our stay, the GM, Mr. Ibarra sent chocolate covered strawberries with a bottle of champagne w/a signature lilikoi cupcake. That was completely unexpected and therefor, a very thoughtful gesture with a personal touch to top off a wonderful 20 year celebration!…
