We booked through a third-party website. When we arrived in our room was nothing like it was in the description. Even though they didn’t have to they accommodated us with a room that was better suited for our family. Word of advice don’t look through third-party websites. Use the Hilton website or direct link to the hotel.
Great location to the Riverwalk. Easy area to walk around. Breakfast was excellent and the staff went out of their way to accommodate every thing we needed. Only disappointing thing was there was no housekeeping services. Had the same sheets and towels during our stay if three days.
Lakeside We had a last minute work trip and this was one of the only hotels open. We requested the king suite upgrade and I called to check the day before and was assured we had a confirmed upgrade for 14$ extra per night. I cancelled my “backup” reservation at another property. I called on the way to confirm our room was ready and our upgrade had magically disappeared. At this point, everywhere else was sold out. 10 days with 3 children and 2 dogs in a studio. Not pleased, but was happy with the studio room size and our room had a peek-a-boo view of the Riverwalk, which had my kids at the window watching boats, so that was appreciated and hopefully Intentional. The bad: 1/3 of the channels work. Maintenance said it’s a known issue. So basically you can watch the news. It was fixed at the end of our stay. A previous review stated the fire alarm went off at 6am sometime in July and the GM responded the issue had been taken care of. The issue was not resolved. It sounded during our stay 18 July and woke my 3 children. The phone didn’t work so I couldn’t call down. I took to wandering the hallway with the other confused guests. I tried calling down multiple times via my cell but was put on hold (without greeting). When I finally did get through, I was told they “think” it was a false alarm. Not comforting. In addition to that, on 7/17 and 7/19, we are in the elevator with the stroller and they suddenly went out of service with the fire symbol. I called the front desk both times because none of the staff were aware or notified. While many helpful guests offered to carry our stroller up 6 flights of stairs with our babies, the staff did not seem to care. The next day, my children were exhausted from being awake the night before due to the fire alarm, so I ordered food. The very rule male front desk working on 7/19 at 1pm told me I’d have to come get it. I explained my children were sleeping and I’d ordered food several times that was brought up without issue. He said he’d “try” to find a bellhop to bring it. He didn’t. I called down 30 minutes later and a very nice girl at the front desk had it brought up immediately by an equally nice bellhop. Unfortunately for the hotel, the surrounding area is absolutely revolting. It smelled of pee and I was constantly haggled by homeless while walking my dogs in the morning and night. They did not care I had a double stroller and 5 year old in tow. Bring Lysol because you’ll want to remove your shoes and LYSOL the crap out of them/stroller before entering the room. We took our shoes off outside the door because they were sticky with urine. Most of the city smelled like this. Haven’t been in many years and wouldn’t voluntarily return, though we will for work quarterly. Note: the hotel does not honor disabled parking tags, which the city of San Antonio does. The parking garage is a CITY parking garage and they DO honor it. The hotel uses this same garage to park their vehicles (eyeroll). That being said, the valet staff was kind and considerate. A fb search for the hotel comes up with a post by a poor family who had their truck crunched by valet, but are not being compensated for it due to no security footage! Basically during our entire stay, people were sleeping in the lobby or sitting around waiting for their room to be ready, sometimes late into the evening. Lots of angry people talking in the lobby. The good: I immediately check mattresses, etc. Clean, clean, clean (room 621). The hotel was decorated in “fiesta” style (or coco style, according to my children). We travelled with a Bernese mountain dog and a hairless xoloitzcuintle. The staff was very accommodating to traveling with pets and Hamptons do NOT overcharge for this service. Whoever cleaned our floor on 7/17 was so sweet and incredible. She made sure we had extra towels and everything we needed. The real stars of this hotel are the breakfast staff. I wish I’d gotten everyone’s name because they were so fantastic. One gentleman saw me trying to juggle multiple plates and carried my food to the table. Another got two high chairs for my twins, which I didn’t know were available. Yisidra came by more than once to clear trash and check on us, always with a smile and interacted with my kids. Hampton breakfasts are kind of the “Hilton line” joke, as they’re the most disgusting frozen/powdered eggs you can find. I remember serving them in college, and that’s still true to this day. The scrambled eggs are basically inedible, but the waffle station and staff make up for it. I did email the GM and he invited me to sit down and discuss these issues with him. Juggling that and 3 children didn’t sound like a good time. We ended up leaving early. Requested late check out not honored. Shocker. Overall, we will choose another hotel when we stay on San Antonio for work. …
Inaccurate description of hotel an fees. Was charged more at Check in time. I got charged twice employees not helpful and don’t provide any info.valet parking takes a long time to bring vehicle. The pool area is very small and crowded se didn’t feel comfortable probably stayed for no more than 10 min.
If you have issues deal with Enrique, the manager, or Laura, front desk. DO NOT DEAL WITH VALERIE, she will deny she spoke with you and supposedly not remember all your issues like us. Even though I spoke to her face to face each time. The other front desk people didn’t know our situation apparently. With my family in wet clothes sitting in lobby with no room cause they were switching our rooms which took them 5 hours. Valerie told me it would take two hours. More happened but I have no more room to write.
