My husband and I stayed here two nights in one week (before and after a Deer Valley ski trip). Both times we stayed, we received a complimentary room upgrade. The rooms were large and included a sitting area. The bathroom is also large with plenty of room for two people to get ready at the same time. The beds and pillows were dreamy, and the water pressure in the shower was good. There were great views of the mountains and sunset from our balcony. There’s a large pool with a hot tub also open to guests. The lobby has a beautiful bar area. On a Sunday afternoon a harpist was playing, and on a Friday night there was a jazz band — very nice! The staff each time was very helpful with food suggestions, storing of luggage, and giving directions. The only knock on the hotel is the rooms have somewhat dated interiors.

Hotel's Favourite
Really ornate construction and generally professional staff. I thought it was odd that I had to call daily and ask for my room to be cleaned, but other than that I had a great time. The venue and ballrooms are most excellent for world class events, but the internet is weak sauce. I think that they could do a better job to staff the lobby the bar as I was attempting to entertain clients and after waiting 20 minutes I had to walk into the kitchen to find a staff member that was poised to help but even after going to that extreme the server said that he would see about sending ”our server” over i.e., he could and should have jumped in himself as he was also a server. For context the bar was not busy.

The hotel is grand in every sense of the word. It’s beautiful, the staff is superb, the food is delicious, the rooms are comfy and spacious, the spa is opulent, the pool is great fun, and there are four bars! Keeps one in “good spirits!” We enjoyed a staycation that was most GRAND.

A local suggested the Grand America for my visit and I was initially hesitant. However, it proved to be an excellent recommendation. The service is top-notch, the facility is well maintained, and the amenities offered are great. With regard to the room decorating: it's not my style (think early America mixed with Louis XIV. That said, everything is perfect working order. The bed is comfortable with excellent pillows and linens. The curtain are designed to ensure no light gets in. The rooms have a door that opens to a small balcony (most not big enough to sit on, but room to step outside to view the mountains and allow fresh air inside.) The bathrooms have a deep soaking tub and separate stand-up shower. The water is pressure is nice and there is plenty of hot water. The commode is in a separate room. The is also a sink in a closet vanity area. This allows one person to get ready while another is using the bathroom, etc. There was a large desk for work. The common areas of the hotel are quite impressive. The amount of money spent book matching the marble in the lobby is likely only exceeded by the incalculable millwork budget for the wood paneling. The building was built by a successful Mormon oil tycoon just before the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics. You get the sense that this building - especially the lobby was meant as a statement to the world about Utah, Salt Lake City, the Mormons, and himself. If so, he delivered. There is a fantastic brasserie that serves food throughout the day. It is the prefect spot for a business breakfast, lunch or dinner. The bar is lively in the evenings. For those seeking something unique, the hotel offers a world-class afternoon tea in the lobby. The fitness center is spacious and has just about everything you need to maintain a workout. (Treadmills, free weight, pull-ups, rows, some machines, ellipticals. Basically everything but a squat rack.) There is a spa and pool but I did not have time to use either. The hotel is a quick 10 minute drive from the airport. Park City skiing is about 35 to 45 minutes away. I visited some of the high end resorts in Park City as well. If you the extra thousand bucks is worth it to you for ski-in ski-out, you'd want to stay there. However, the facilities at the five star hotels out there are similar to what the Grand America offers. Valet is prompt and helpful, there is also self parking. I think you can take light rail to and from the airport that I'd double check that. One note about light rail - the trains run right to the hotel. If you are a light sleeper, request a high room or the opposite side of the property. Finally, the hotel felt very safe. While it is downtown, Salt Lake City demonstrates that a large metro area can have a safe, clean downtown.

This was an amazing stay at a true 5-Star luxury hotel. From the moment you pull up, the valets are extremely attentive and assisted with our luggage. The room was more than spacious and the the bed and covers were to die for. We did the afternoon tea and the server was amazing and was tipped extra, as she was exceptional at her job! My only complaint was the room service was super slow and my wife and I were their for our anniversary and I was surprised to not see a bottle of champagne or something special awaiting us. Not a huge deal but it would have been a nice touch. We will return again for another visit.

I don’t usually stay in hotels this nice, but I truly felt spoiled here. The service and decor was spectacular. Rooms are spacious and luxurious. It was also nice being here right before Christmas to see the decorations. I hope to visit again in the future.

I stayed at The Grand America Hotel for business conference on Dec 11-12. I had a room with a king bed and a sitting area. This hotel has over-sized rooms. My room had great views of the courtyard and mountains. During the Christmas holiday time period they have "windows" in the hallways that are decorated for the holidays. This hotel is beautiful and well maintained. I had some interactions with staff, which were always met with smiles and eagerness to assist in any way they could. I will have this hotel as my top choice to stay at when I visit Salt Lake City on personal travels in the future.

I stayed at the Grand American for a conference. I'm not positive that I would stay again for the price, but overall, it's a nice hotel. The building itself is very grand, the room was very spacious. I went to the fitness centre during my stay and it was well maintained and had enough equipment to get in a decent work out. It was in walking distance to many restaurants. No complaints!
