We stayed at Punga Grove and we were actually in the rainforest. It was pitch black at night and all you could hear were the birds and the rain pouring down. We also had a gas fireplace in the room which was awesome after tramping to see the glacier. Shuttle came right to the hotel to take us to the glacier.

Fantastic accomodation!!! The staff are super friendly! They were very accommodating in extending our stay and giving us great tip on what to see. The 2 bedroom suite was very comfortable with a wonderful glass ceiling outlook into back patio. On arrival we also received free milk for our tee and coffee. There are great cooking facilities. The staff also gave us a great discount price for the Hot Pools which are only about a 5min walk.

Stayed one night while driving down the West Coast and has a great stay. Rooms are large and very clean and within walking distance to all the shops, restaurants etc. the check in was a breeze and was given local tips on where to eat. The view out the back of our room was tranquil and quiet.

The room was big 1 bedroom with a single bed in lounge nice and clean, we had to cart our luggage up the stairs without any assistance from staff, we did ask for ground floor and where advicecd that if the weather forcast was correct the ground floor rooms plumbing would backup and flood the bathrooms so yes we chose the drag our luggage upstairs . Reception girl was very informative and friendly. But we were booked in for 2 nights and needed to change to one due weather forecast and the driving distance to our next booked accommodation as we did not realise the conditions and slow pace of the roads we had to travel, when our travel agent tried to explain our situation to the manager his just quoted hotel cancalation policies with no regard to our situation nor did he care the

We had 2 nights booked here in April, not long after the rain washed away the bridge between Franz Josef and Fox glaciers. We were kept up to date by email in the week before the reopening of the temporary bridge by the motel which was very reassuring as we were driving down the West Coast only 2 days after the scheduled opening. Large rooms, very comfortable for 3 adults. Great views of the mountains from our balcony.

We had the one bedroom suite for 2 nights. Location was good but in fact, the town is not big so whether you stay is within walkable distance. The one bedroom room suite has an extra single bed in the living room area. Kitchen amenities are full. The reception was friendly and helpful in our checking in and also informed us on all the activities that we can go for. The only thing is if you stayed on the 2nd level like us, you have to be prepared to carry your luggage up 2 flights of stairs. But overall, it’s a great stay 👍

Motel based very close to the main streets at Franz Joseph. Quite big accomodation on two floors with two bedrooms, only disappointment was that the booking said "balcony" but there was an indoor atrium type area under glass which I guess is what they meant. No outdoor space then. Perfectly acceptable rooms

A warm welcome, a clean and spacious well equipped apartment, all that we needed. A small secluded patio which, had the weather been less wet, we’d have enjoyed using! Good access, on foot or car, to local restaurants, shops and attractions. Certainly stay here again. Thanks to all who made our stay so enjoyable.

We were warmly received by host Graham and were fortunate to have a ground floor south facing room. These rooms enjoy an outdoor balcony facing a small rainforest. Lovely feature. The room was clean and modern; typically motel, but in a warm nostalgic way. Graham was very helpful and accommodating, with great tips on the town. Franz Josef isn't a large town; all restaurants and shops are walking distance. Please dismiss the negative single contribution made below, we didn't get sick or become suspicious of any cleanliness matters -- it's a great place to stay.
