One street back from the main road you are close to town, restaurants and the information centre.
Our room had a lovely gas fire, wall heater and electric blankets.
The room was spacious and included lounge furniture, a great shower, microwave, hot plate, fridge, pots and pans and tea and coffee making facilities. Very nice very friendly, thank you.

The couple who run this are so friendly and helpful. Our room was very spacious with great amenities including gas log fire and outdoor area looking out onto the rainforest. The room was very clean with extra towels, cushions, blankets etc. Shower had great pressure and bathroom in general was very spacious. Very good location walking distance to all cafes, bars, restaurants etc. The Glacier Shuttle collected us directly from the hotel and returned us there also. Big bed and very comfy. Will definitely stay again!

Stopped in here for a night. Lovely place and the host was just lovely - she was so friendly and helpful and just made you smile to. Really made us feel very welcome.

The room was excellent, only downside was that the luggage cabinet inside the bedroom was too big and made navigation in the dark risky so suggest it is moved into the lounge area.

Loved the outdoor seating area and felt like we were having a nature experience, it was really quiet and private.

Room was really well equipped although it did take me a while to find the chopping board :(

We arrived during torrential rain on the west coast, having driven from Wanaka. The waterfalls increased hour by hour until they were pouring onto the road itself. We were not allowed to walk near the glacier in the rain as it was so heavy and the river in danger of flooding.

So, soaking wet and rather cold we arrived at Punga Grove to find it well equipped for every weather condition. A gas fire in the room was available even in summer, so that we could dry our clothes. A comfy seating area, big bathroom and best of all a really comfortable bed. Pity we couldn’t use the covered verandah with its own tree fern outside!
It was only a very short walk to find dinner in town. Altogether a very memorable evening, admittedly because of the adverse weather.

Booked direct before we arrived and can't fault the place.
Arrived early and meet by a very helpful staff member whom advised room wasn't ready but could park the car outside the room.
We stayed in a one bedroomed apartment wonderful size with good tv package which was used due to heavy rain.
Place was quite at might and a short walk to town.
Would happily return.

Our Executive Studio room was superb with a gas fireplace, spa bath and lovely private outdoor sitting area with the native bush at your feet. The cleanliness was amazing including the remote controls being sanitized and in a bag. We should have stayed for more than one night though as it was so lovely and quiet, private and relaxing. We will certainly stay here again. The staff at reception were very friendly and helpful.

We booked through booking.com and requested a room with a view, but did not receive a reply. We had booked an executive studio for 2 nights and we’re put in a room with a terrace inches from the rain forest. ie no view and you couldn’t use the terrace because of mossies etc.
We spoke to management and we’re moved the next night to room 5 which was upstairs and did have a balcony and a view.
Rooms were large, comfortable and well equipped.
The young man we spoke to when we complained about the original room was very pleasant and helpful.
If you like looking at the rain forest this place is ok, otherwise I think there are better options.

Spacious unit. Steep flight of stairs to bedroom but that was fine.
The weather wasn't great, but handy location helped and we walked most places.
Housekeeping was wonderful, wasn't expecting them to clean up after our lunch
Reception staff gave good info re restaurants, this was helpful as some were closed.

The apartment had all we needed and was spotlessly clean. The kitchen area is a bit cramped, but that was fine and we managed OK. There is a full oven; not many motels have this available. There was a self-serve laundromat next door to our room, so it was handy to get on top of washing. There is a welcoming feel to Punga Grove Resort and I do recommend it as a place to stay and relax. The staff were great. The price is reasonable. It’s a 3 minute walk to restaurants and the local supermarket. Everything worked well, and over our two days there, we were able to explore the Franz Joseph Glacier and also the beach area. Highly recommended!

Split level room was perfect as I was upstairs and son downstairs on a single bed opposite kitchen area ( would have been better to have this by window as noise of fridge and microwave light were a distraction) however all felt very spacious although basic. Comfy beds and plenty of hot water in small but well appointed bathroom with shower.
The reason for 3 Score was the fairly unfriendly uninterested manager of this site. Told us the basics of the resort and recommended a couple of restaurants which was good . However she didn’t go out and f her way to make us feel welcome . I was surprised that we couldn’t use the laundry facilities until midday so she told me to go to the laundromat . And even then she told us to go to the supermarket to get change for the washing machines and tumble driers . Towels were poor quality , hairdryer didn’t work but was swapped for a new one. (But she told me son he had interrupted her dinner ?? It was only 5pm ?) On leaving no engagement and didn’t even ask if we had enjoyed our stay or thanked us for our custom.
(The other member of the team was lovely and helped us navigate the washing machine and was super friendly and smiled all the time ) .
