It was great all around. The room was perfect for our family of 5, which is always a challenge when travelling. The staff was very accommodating throughout. Princess in Concierge was very helpful with scheduling our Luau and adding a 6th guest. She was great about communicating in advance. The Front desk agent that checked us in was so nice and made a great first impression.

Hotel's Favourite
Absolutely five star...our family of 9 stayed in 4 rooms, all ocean view suites, they were huge, clean, beautiful. The staff were all amazing & we simply felt soo pampered, we usedtheir courtesy cars most days to go to the Wailea shops or to dinner which was fantastic & has photos taken by their photographer, soo glad we did. Our room had a king bed plus our 14yr old on the sofa, you could possibly have 4 people split over two double beds & the sofa depending on how you used the configuration, the bathroom is gigantic & the balcony a decent size with dining table & a lounge chair. The pools are plenty big enough & you will never go hungry or thirsty, you are very well taken care of around the pool but the Ama Bar & Grill is great for lunch & the little market place on site has fabulous sandwiches, wraps, salads, fries, coffees, be sure to check it out. The only negative is the cost of everything is a little outrageous. I spoke to a few regulars who said it has gone up 30-40% in the past 4 yrs so be prepared...our dinner at Ko was $180 USD each, a cocktail at the pool $22 USD, it's the 18-20% tipping that gets us Australians, we just can't get used to it & to automatically add it on its just *** We had a beautiful day at the spa, they also added 20% tipping onto the treatments, never ever have I heard of that...

We have been to many nice hotels but this is in a class by itself. The decor is awesome and perfectly captures the luxury Polynesian vide. The rooms are all suites, large and perfectly decorated. The bar has great drinks and sushi offerings that we had not encountered before. There should be a way to give it 6 stars!

Gorgeous resort with outstanding service. This is a world class luxury resort with all suites - the biggest rooms you will find on Maui. The lobby entrance is stunning. The grounds including the lush landscaping and beautiful pools are lovely. The beach is great - on smaller side but perfect and they offer complimentary chairs, umbrellas and towels. You can watch whales from the beach. Only tiny recommendation is that they should change their strategy on the pool cabanas. They have priced them such that 90% seem to sit empty all day while all other chairs are filled and umbrellas can be hard to come by. It should be an easy fix for them and something I would do if it was my hotel. I would think they would want guests to have maximum enjoyment and try to have all the cabanas filled all day. This is small point and overall amazing experience!! Yes it is pricey but am guessing that is the case for nearly all hotels at this tier.

We have been coming to the Kea Lani with our 3 children almost every year for the last 2 decades. It is a gorgeous property, that cascades down to a perfect sandy beach and is PERFECT for families. It also has everything adults could want as well, so there is no compromise for the adults. Things we love: All suite hotel with 2 and 3 BR beachfront “villas” all with their own kitchen and plunge pool - absolute perfection! The Wailea waterfront path allows for easy access to restaurants at other resorts, like the Four Seasons (Spago, Duo and Ferraro’s are all excellent). The Kea Lani has also been recently remodeled, rooms, Villas and foyer - adding a new sushi restaurant Pilina. They kept the best of the old spirit but everything is new and fresh. I would be remiss if I didn’t mentioned the very best part of the Kea Lani, which is the staff who exemplify the Aloha spirit. Many have worked there since the opening in the 1990’s - there are so many familiar faces each year. For anyone considering a Hawaiian vacation with children of any age, I can’t recommend the Kea Lani highly enough. Jamie Corell is an incredible in-house reservation expert and knows every inch of the property! You can reach her at Jamie.Corell@Fairmont.com or + 808 875 4100. Most resorts booking are done via call center - Kea Lani is unique in having professional staff on-property who can walk you through the different options. Aloha!

Overall, we had a wonderful stay at Kea Lani. The hotel lobby construction is complete and looks grand. The suite was very comfortable and spacious. Although the initial room cleaning was not upto our standards or expectations from a Fairmont property, this was quickly addressed by management and the daily cleaning was much better in the subsequent days. Our main negative experience came from the staff at the property’s restaurants. The hotel lobby, concierge and bell desk were all consistently friendly and helpful. However, in comparison the staff at AMA’s Bar and Grill, as well as Nicks Seafood were atrocious! They neglected tables, dropped water over everyone when refilling glasses, brought incorrect checks and took their time correcting it, and overall just had a bad attitude. This made us want to avoid eating at the hotel, and order room service daily as the staff were very nice. Note - the Makena Market staff and the brunch at Ko were super nice in comparison. On a positive note, the complimentary yoga on the beach and star gazing experiences were particularly good. However, we wish there had been more of a variety for the guest that stays more than 2-3 nights. There really wasn’t that much for kids to enjoy aside from the daily koi fish feeding, hula and lei making classes. Still, our kids loved the tiny beach and pool slide, which kept them entertained daily. Would have been nice to have better beach equipment (boogie boards were old and floppy) that were complimentary as well. The pool loungers need updating but were comfortable. Overall, for the cost of the stay, I do wish we had stayed elsewhere as we had much higher expectations. But we still had a good time (just didn’t think it was value for $$).

Everything about the resort was perfect. All services and attendants were outstanding with their positions. I was so pleased that there were enough pool loungers and chairs throughout the resort with plenty of shade. I was pleased to see how careful and thoughtful the resort is about plastics and had refillable bottles and fresh cold water throughout the resort. Our attendant for our room was impeccable easy check in and check out. The food at KO’ was to die for. Possibly the best meal we’ve ever had.
