Its a beautiful hotel off the waterfront. Staff were very nice and the lounge/bar is exceptional. You cant miss the parking lot standing out in views and pictures from the balcony, but thats a minor annoyance. Super enjoyed the lounge after hours with an environment conducive to conversation. The rooms are appropriate for the price, but the location inferior to beachfront hotels similarly priced. We enjoyed our stay, but wouldnt return. The hotel is set up under contract with several airlines and provides free rooms to airline staff for a fixed corporate fee. This means it is set up for short term stays and longer term guests are a bit short changed. Example - complimentary water only for the first night and you are on you own thereafter. No make up mirrors. Spa was not functioning for at least a week and was not fixed when we departed. Advised we could use a spa belonging to other hotel a 1/4 mile away. Seriously? A mismanaged solution to a fairly pricey Marriot. Irrespective, its a very nice hotel if you are not planning on beach access and only in Maui for the short term. Balcony suites are only larger balconies and not suites.…
It was a pleasure to stay here! What a wonderful team... This is a nice and relaxed newer facility with a great location. The rooms were comfortable, the food yummy, and the pool freezing cold (Which i liked) Everything this trip was wonderful.
Let me start by saying that if you want the resort vibe and this hotel isn't substantially less than the Marriott Wailea...then you'll probably be happier at the other hotel. This hotel caters more to business travelers, those looking for a stopover before checking in to the main hotel, and those looking to stay away from crazy resorts. If you haven't been to Hawaii and you've been saving up for the big trip with all of the extras, you might be disappointed to find out that it's not on the ocean and is missing some of the amenities you might see further down the road. No one is planning your dinners or bringing you room service here. It's definitely not for everyone...but it's for me. :) Personally, I loved it. I loved that I could get a cabana without paying $250, I loved the laid back pool bar, and I loved that I didn't pay a resort fee on top of parking. No forgetting where I parked my car or fighting for pool chairs at 7am like I've experienced elsewhere.. It's super easy to walk down to the beach, explore resorts, get to the shops, etc. Everyone we chatted with at the hotel was amazing and there was plenty of room to spread out at the pool and the lobby. I'll definitely be back. …
The hotel is well located , near beaches, restaurants and shopping. The common area are really nice and modern. Breakfast is expensive for what you get. The rooms are clean, beds are comfortable. You need to get a room facing the ocean otherwise you will hear the noise of the highway ( ask for even number rooms.. we had 211 and it felt like the cars were in the room) Also insonorisation is really bad, you hear the doors closing from the other rooms, the guest upstairs walking… staff was friendly and helpful. Parking is 30$ for the day and not included in the price of the room. For beach rentals you need to go to the Marriot residence, the concierge was not really interested in serving us.
My husband and I booked a last minute trip to Maui for the final week of the year to treat ourselves for the holidays and our anniversary. Of course we could not find availability or good deals given such poor planning. AC hotel is new and modern plus I am a gold Marriott member so we gave it a shot. It’s a small and charming hotel with well kept grounds close to a shopping village. The staff is very nice and responsive and there is a bar overlooking the pool. I’m afraid the positives end there. The room is tiny. We got a king bed with ocean view but it also overlooks the pool so is loud until the bar/pool closes at 9pm. As others noted, walls are paper thin and balconies are so close to each other, there is no privacy. There is only one whirlpool with the same 8 people hogging it from 4 to closing. The app notes that housekeeping is every other day but when we got here we learned it’s every third day. For the price, I’d expect daily service with chocolates every night. There is a coffee maker in the room but no coffee in the lobby which is a basic amenity even motels have. I cannot recommend this overpriced hotel. Don’t feel any special treatment or value esp being a gold member. The hotel nickels and dimes guests from the breakfast buffet to parking. We’ve paid similar prices at other Marriott properties and felt they were better value so this was overall very disappointing.…
My wife and I came to Maui for a 7 night trip and stayed here on our first night after landing in Maui. Upon entering the property we were immediately greeted and during the check in process my Ambassador Elite status was recognized. We were upgraded to an oceanview suite. The room was craft fully decorated and furnished with all the latest amenities. The bed was very comfortable, the shower was very enjoyable, and overall it was a great night sleep. We also received a very nice welcome gift in our room of various local snacks, a nice card thanking us for our status, and a bag. This was a very nice welcoming gift and was greatly appreciated. We enjoyed breakfast on property and as an ambassador elite member we opted for the Buffett discount instead of the points. The way breakfast worked is you can help yourself to fruits, breads, pastries, cold cuts, yogurt, juices, and coffee. For actual food, you can order directly from the waitress whatever you want as much as you want (the portion sizes were similar to Tapas). We found this extremely convenient and allowed us to try quite a few things. The waffles were delicious. Overall, if you’re looking for something relatively brand new, with all the amenities one could want, and still be within walking distance of the beach for a fraction of the price, this place is for you. Our only regret was we didn’t stay here longer.…
An absolutely fantastic hotel, even more unexpected for being AC. From the moment you approach the hotel, you get an inkling that it is going to be special. The building looks really nice, the landscaping is exceptional and you can see an infinity pool with beautiful views of the ocean and the cliffs. I said to myself, almost immediately, should I cancel the rest of my trip and just stay here? I proceeded to say it to my wife our whole 1 day stay there. I have traveled quite a bit, but another guest who we met in the small pool/hot tub and has traveled way more extensively than we did said it best. He said the spot was the most beautiful place he had seen, calling it paradise. One can debate whether it is the most beautiful place, but it certainly one of the most idyllic visions one will find, at least based on my experience. I really did not want to leave and if I return to Hawaii, this is the hotel I most want to return to. What else did I like? The room was very large and one of the most intelligent designs of any I have seen, with extensive space for luggage (which we needed) on the side of the room and there is still plenty of space to get around the bed to go to the bathroom. There is a balcony with a nice view, even though it just overlooks a very pretty roadway. The bed is large and comfortable with really good bedding. A big, high quality TV was welcome. The bathroom was also very good with quality towels. Everything worked and it is a light, airy space that puts a smile on your face. We were so high about the hotel that we broke a rarely broken golden rule, don’t pay for an overpriced hotel breakfast and this one was a very expensive $25. We thought, “What the hell”? Other restaurants would probably be expensive, too and let’s just be lazy. Besides, the menu looked pretty good, the hotel was great so why would the breakfast not be at least good and finally we could eat enough to skip lunch and even bring some stuff back to the room. It was a good bet. The food was excellent from the egg/turkey sandwich to the waffles to the muffins to the OJ to the coffee and more. I did not eat that much and I still felt remarkably satisfied. We brought up some muffins, etc. and had it for a couple of breakfasts at other hotels afterwards. So it turned out to be a pretty good deal after all. The staff was wonderful – extremely friendly and helpful. The parking was not free, unfortunately in fact steep at $30 per night. We used points, but I believe it was fairly expensive, around $200 or more for the room in November and then the $30 for parking and $50 for breakfast for both of us means it ain’t cheap, but in my mind worth every penny. Moreover. Wailea is lovely, probably the nicest spot in Hawaii. We found a fabulous spot to eat a picnic lunch at Polo Beach nearby with picnic tables (some in the shade), parking and bathrooms right at the beach, which is a lovely spot. There are good restaurants nearby and an upscale shopping center with an upscale market with lots of good food – including takeaway food ready-to-eat. It’s all expensive, but that’s Hawaii. The bottom line - if you want to just relax in a fairly luxurious way at an expensive, but not luxury priced hotel, this is an exceptional choice.…
Perfect location, great room design, perfect size property, view from pool n pool bar is amazing. Staff goes above and beyond. Photo is view from our balcony. We saw whales and sunsets along with amazing island views.
We decided to stay at the AC Hotel, versus other Marriott properties on the island, on the advice of a Marriott phone rep. The AC aspires to be a superior stay experience, and in many ways delivers, but also falls short if a few key, systemic ways. Our check-in agent, "E," was exceptionally gracious and welcoming after our long plane ride to arrive; she sets the gold standard for how all front desk agents could be. Our room, a ground-floor suite on the end of the hotel overlooking the ocean, was spacious and impeccably clean, with a very comfortable bed. And the view of the ocean from our room and walkout lanai was spectacular! Plus, it's easy walking distance to the Wailea shopping center area. And the workout room and pool area were both great. On the downside, as others have noted, there's minimal drawer space in the room, and the frosted glass sliding doors for the bathroom offer little privacy; the hotel's designers were clearly going for looks over functionality. The hotels wood-frame construction (presumably), versus concrete between floors, means you'll hear every footstep in the room above you, unless you're on the top floor. Fortunately, the family with foot-heavvy kids above us turned in at a decent hour and stayed sleeping, but you may not be so lucky. The other downside is uneven staffing quality and execution. Pool towels were left piled to overflowing in the bin. The workout room clock remained off by several hours, despite alerting staff to the discrepancy. And as joyous a welcome as we received upon arrival from "E," our departure agent at checkout had no Aloha or Mahalo spirit...no "How was your stay?" or "Thanks for staying with us." Just..."OK, I have you checked out." Given the cost and aspirations of this hotel versus competitors, we expected better at exit.…
Excellent hotel with great views of distant mountains and Ocean, great swimming pool and jacuzzi; living music at the pool bar. The room we stayed with balcony and chair, a comfortable place to enjoy the views and music. The room were great and very clean. Everything seems very new.
