The Grove is a Georgian family-run guest house, self-catering cottages and restaurant situated in four acres of gardens on the Norfolk coast. Set back from the road and with plenty of parking as well as a heated indoor swimming pool, we are ten minutes' walk from Cromer town centre and just a few minutes through woodland from the cliffs and beach.

Such a lovely hotel, facilities and grounds. The staff are attentive, helpful and welcoming. We stayed in one of the cottages which was perfect for our needs and the position of the hotel to the centre of Cromer is great. The kitchen garden is super, and I loved the notice board with an update of what fresh produce from the garden was being used by the kitchen that day.

Stayed for a 2 night break. Had one evening meal at Sundowners which was really lovely, great tapas the pizza was delicious too! Love it that they grow their own fresh vegetables. We had a double room in the main hotel, very spacious and spotlessly clean. Breakfast was included for us which was a bonus. Had a choice of cereals, pastries, yoghurt, fruit and a cooked breakfast made to order! Set us up nicely for the day. Staff were all very polite and very helpful at all times. Tea/coffee making facilities in room with extra supplies to hand if needed. Nice little well stocked bar - perfect for a nightcap. Great location, easy walks into Cromer and surrounding areas. All in all this hotel was a little gem, would highly recommend it.

What a beautiful place to stay, (stayed in a cottage in the grounds so can’t vouch for the rooms in the main building). Seems to cater for all ages of guests with everything you could need available and a ten minute walk to the seafront/town. Free and private use of the indoor swimming pool was great, the food was outstanding (probably the best steak I’ve had). Huge list of options for breakfast and booking your time slot means very little waiting around for it. Well done to you all, we shall be back. (10/10 for your staff aswel).

We stayed for 1 night at The Grove and couldn’t fault it at all. The setting was lovely with a short 15 minute walk to the Cromer cliffs and town. We stayed in what was the original Master Bedroom of the house which had lots of character, very comfy large bed, was clean and even had a record player and vinyls!! Both our evening meal and breakfast in the restaurant were first class and beautifully presented, and the cosy bar was lovely for a little nightcap. The staff couldn’t have been more friendly or efficient. There were also little touches such as being seated in the bar to order your meal and then going through to the restaurant once it was ready for serving which was very relaxing, as well as additional tea/coffee etc available for your room. The Grove had a lovely atmosphere and we will certainly be returning and would highly recommend.

I never got to The Grove, a special treat from my daughter for Mother’s Day as I had covid. I just want to make everyone aware not to expect a refund or an opportunity to rebook should you cancel. They are obsessed with their policies and have no empathy whatsoever. I was very disappointed with their attitude. Beware of this group of hotels !!

Response from Richard Graveling, Owner at The Grove
Responded 2 weeks ago
Hi Shahnaz You called us a while ago and asked what rooms would be best for you, then booked different rooms online, provided the wrong email address, then weeks later tried to cancel less than 48 before arrival. We told you then that we would honour whatever nights we resold for a future stay (most places don't do this) but as you'd cancelled at such short notice this was always going to be unlikely, and so it proved. We are a small independent and we cannot just suck up costs of people cancelling right up to their arrival date, and 99.9% of our lovely guests understand this and are quite happy. You were fairly abusive in your email messages to our reception staff and when you threatened a poor review I told you there could be a reply. And here it is. Regards Richard

Wonderful break from arrival to departure at this beautiful hotel. From the friendly staff at reception, to the restaurant staff and housekeeping staff. Always pleasant, happy and helpful. The room (Merry weathet) was lovely. Very spacious, extremely comfortable bed, large bathroom with bath and shower. Plenty of tea, coffee, milk and biscuits including a cafetiere. The outside patio was a delight. On both days we sat outside in the sunshine having a glass of wine overlooking the quiet kitchen garden. Breakfast was delicious and we even had this delivered to our room each morning. we had a meal in restaurant one evening which was excellent. We walked into Cromer via the woods which took around 15 minutes and up to the lighthouse. There was also a very attractive indoor pool we thoroughly enjoyed our break and definitely look forward to returning and will be recommending to family and friends.

The grove is a beautiful hotel with fantastic staff, amazing food and in a great location. It is so lovely that it has the ability to offset a bad experience into something you look back fondly on and you leave with only good memories. I have stayed here twice with my girlfriend. The first time we stayed our car burst into flames on the drive home. We don’t really remember this bit. What we do remember is walking down the scenic path from the grove to the beach and walking barefoot in the sand. The car + fire situation was not enough to dissuade us from going back. On my most recent visit I finally plucked up the courage to propose to my girlfriend of 8 years over a romantic meal in the groves main restaurant…she said no. Instead of remembering the crippling rejection followed by intense awkwardness I mainly remember how delicious the risotto was. It really is a wonderful place for a get away and I really can’t fault it. Family run businesses need our support now more than ever and this is definitely one worth supporting.

A fabulous weekend stay for my friends from Shropshire. Beautiful setting and rooms, fabulous food and exceptional service. Nothing was too much trouble. Friends can't wait to come back again and I shall be in for afternoon tea soon as I am local. Well done The Grove. It was just wonderful, thank you.
