The Holiday Inn Express & Suites Atlanta Downtown earns praise for its prime location and cleanliness, with many guests appreciating the well-kept rooms and the diverse breakfast options. However, opinions are mixed regarding the value and service quality, with some travelers encountering valet and staffing issues.
While the renovated suites are celebrated for their space and privacy, other rooms are criticized for being small and outdated. The hotel's atmosphere is generally well-regarded, though concerns about environmental practices have been noted.

Hotel's Favourite
Our stay on the 8th floor King suite provided a clean, modern designed work area (with queen Murphy med), King bedroom and bath. Loved the downtown view of the Ferris wheel. Breakfast provided options for all. Valet parking was seamless, using an app to request the car as we left and returned multiple times all for the one day valet parking fee. Friendly and efficient check in service.

My family and I (total of 8) were in Atlanta to visit the Georgia Aquarium and the Coca Cola Factory Saturday, Feb. 22, 2020. I booked our rooms in advance, partially due to the location of the attractions we were visiting as well as room availability. I am so thankful I booked our rooms (total of 3) here. We checked in at approximately 6:30 PM after a full day of having fun. The front desk staff were very helpful, friendly and hospitable. The check in process was very easy and fast. We were in our rooms quickly and able to walk to dinner that night. The next morning my husband, grandsons and I went to breakfast and we were NOT disappointed. The servers/staff were so very friendly and the food was AMAZING! We checked out at 10:45 AM and it was an easy process as well. The morning front desk staff was just as friendly and nice as the night staff had been.
I would like to give a BIG SHOUT out to Angela for the awesome yo-yo and truck she gave to my son for my grandsons. They loved them and couldn't believe they received a toy just for being there. My oldest grandson (7) said "she must be the sweetest lady".
The next time we are in Atlanta, we will definitely stay at Holiday Inn Express & Suites Atlanta Downtown.
We truly could not have asked for a better experience.
Thank you for making this trip/stay a very happy and memorable one!!

This hotel is in a good location for transportation and downtown activities. It is only a few blocks from the Peachtree Marta station and Centennial Olympic Park. There is also a streetcar stop across the street and a store on the corner to buy snacks and drinks if needed. The hotel is in a historic, renovated building. The front desk and security staff were friendly and helpful. We were in a King Suite. The rooms were a little smaller than normal but a person should expect that in a historic building. Our room was clean and well maintained. The breakfast was very good. There were many hot and cold breakfast options. The breakfast staff were friendly and kept the breakfast area well-stocked.

Been traveling the US for a while now and I’m finding it very hard to think of a worse experience…
-No room service
Beds had been used prior to arrival and made up without being washed.
-Horrible Cleanliness
There were hairs and scum blocking the drainage in both the sink and shower which gave the bathroom a very creative smell.
There were also hairs and pubes which were placed adjacent to my pillow.
My favorite experience of all was by far the discovery of a toenail in my bed in the middle of the night. I’m still trying to figure out how the staff could make up the already dirty beds and not see the giant toenail in the middle of the bed.
-Breakfast tasted vile and was served by a rude member of staff who remained very punctual in closing down (I tried to get a few more pancakes at 9:25 (five minutes before closure) but was told I couldn’t get any more.) I was also astounded at the staff’s ability to somehow keep all the beverage machines empty and without juice and maintain the pancake machines out of order throughout the duration of my stay.
I would caution anyone and everyone thinking of choosing this place as their destination.
Not a pleasant experience at all.

Associate Kay willingness to serve at the breakfast bar was extraordinary. She seized opportunities to assist without being asked. For instance, I asked the location of cream cheese for my bagel and she responded refrigerator - how many would you like? she retrieved the items (2). Shortly thereafter, I heard Kay offering to assist a patron, who was in need, to their table. Kay shared helping hands - no opportunity was beneath or above her, while maintaining an awesome breakfast bar. Thanks and well done.

Pros: Walking distance to Mercedes Benz Stadium, State Farm Arena, Centennial Park, Georgia Aquarium, World of Coca Cola. Traffic is so bad it is not worth taking your car out of valet. Valet employees were courteous and efficient. Breakfast was decent. Beds clean and comfortable (except sofa bed).
Cons: The majority of the photos here don’t show you the rooms that have yet to be renovated. Ask for a room in the renovated area, ours was not and I didn’t realize there might have been a choice. We were only there for two nights and mainly only there to sleep, so we didn’t complain. It seemed they really did not care for the unrenovated areas. Hall carpets were stained and hall smelled mildewy and humid. Extra plugs in the lamp between the beds for charging phones - only one worked and both outlets came out of the lamp with their wires when you unplugged. Scraped up coatings and dents all over bathtub and shifted ceiling tiles/spiders and spiderwebs in corners. Had to shove the door to close it all the way and engage any other locks. Top security bar base was glued to a piece of wood with extra screws in a shoddy repair job. Fridge fell forward every time we opened it due to missing feet on the bottom.
Overall the room serves its purpose and the hotel was in a great location if you’re headed to town for a concert or event, but we wouldn’t stay again unless we knew for sure our room was on renovated floor.

Overall it was a great stay at the hotel. We were pleasantly surprised when that when we booked 2 queen beds in a room that we actually ended up with more of a suite with a queen bed in two rooms separated by a privacy divider and we had separate bathrooms as well which was unexpected and nice. Our minor complaints were the one bathroom sink was clogged and the air conditioning did not work in the second bedroom so it got a bit warm. We ran into a maintenance person on our way down to the front desk to let them know and he immediately went in and fixed our sink. The continental breakfast had a great variety and plenty of seating which was good as it was very crowded before it closed. The valet parking was very convenient and we expected more of a wait when we requested our car but it was quickly returned to us. The hotel was conveniently located and we were able to walk to most of the sites in downtown that we were looking to visit!

Good service, clean room, great breakfast. The reason I’m giving the hotel a lower rating is because they give plastic plates & cutlery for the breakfast! I was shocked when I saw the stack of plastic plates. They even ran out of forks at least 30 min before the end of the breakfast. Hire a dishwasher and wash & reuse these items! Purchasing & tossing hundreds of plastic plates & cutlery is so bad the environment, so wasteful, and likely expensive! Come on holiday inn, it’s 2023, get with the program.

The staff were all nice. Always greeted and offered help.
On the fifth floor idk what the smell in the hallway is but it made me want to vomit everytime i walked it.
Room 534 Door barely opens, my husband could do it with a lot of pushing and maneuvering
Only given 2 towels when 3 in room told no more of those
It was cold like in the 30s our heat broke. Called front desk and was told engineer would come up. Finally after 30 min and it was late like 11:30 pm and i have a sick child i called again. To be told oh they went home and will come tomorrow. I asked do u have a heater and blankets. She said yes but u have to come get them. Had to leave my sick child in room alone bc my husband was at 24 hour pharmacy trying to get her meds. Went to front desk and was told we dont have anymore blankets. I said do u have a space heater. Given little heater that died quickly. Froze all night. Next morning my husband unplugged wall unit, outlet burnt, with black stuff all around dont think thats safe. He pressed reset buttons and it came on.
Rooms bathrooms and elevators very cramped.
When i said something st checkout was given a small discount.
Hotel outdated
Food good
Staff nice
But smells and not having heat or basic towels blankets etc unbearable

Hi V7461EUannep, Thank you for staying with us and for taking the time to write us a review. We aim to provide simple pleasures for simple smart travel. It's great to know that you found the service received from our staff friendly and the food options to your liking. I am sorry to learn though that your stay didn't cut it due to the problems encountered with the unpleasant smell in the common areas, and the cold temperature in the room. I also hear your dismay with the limited number of towels provided and with the overall condition of our hotel. I appreciate you taking the time to let us know about your experience. Rest assured that your comments are shared with the hotel management and I trust that steps will be taken to ensure this doesn't happen again. I was the front drive Manager for the Four Seasons when they first opened in 1999 and we considered this Hotel a dump back then. It was called a super 8 back then.
Booked a trip thru IHG and the rate I got was higher than the rate for that day.
A couple weeks later i checked hotels.com to see what rate they could give me. The rate was 37 dollars cheaper so i called IHG reservations to cancel and book thru Hotels.com. The agent said wait and I'll check for a better rate and he gave me a rate
5 dollars cheaper than hotels.com so he cancelled the original to his pick and told me I had free parking for two nights. Checking in on the 6th they said they couldn't
give me free parking and had to see the mgr. next day. You have to remember that the only reason i booked this hotel was close to the Aquarium downtown Atlanta and it had gone thru renovations so I took a chance being an IHG employee.
Got to my room and I realized that it was the same dump I called it 20 yrs before.
Hallway looked like an YMCA in the 50's my room was for my brother and I who met me there. No windows in the room very small and had no space to walk. The manager never called me returned the car one day early because of the parking matter. Hertz didn't charge me for second day. Reserved a Taxi for 4:15am to Airport and they never called the cab so one of the attendants suggested he'd take me come to find out he didn't take credit cards only cash. I've fired valets for cheating the hotel and guest before and I'm not dumb. Tomorrow I will call IHG to
suggest they remove this property from IHG who is also a culprit charging me 37 over the employee discount and a member. We'll see what happens this hotel should be a homeless shelter and even the homeless deserve bettter. er
