As a premium, boutique downtown Atlanta hotel, we are perfect when traveling on business, planning a meeting or social event, or enjoying the area's best shopping, dining, and entertainment. Overlooking the breathtaking Atlanta skyline, the Fairfield by Marriott Atlanta Downtown is within walking distance of attractions such as the Georgia World Congress Center, the Georgia Aquarium, CNN Center, Centennial Olympic Park, and Georgia State University. Set in a historic building, our all-new hotel underwent a multi-million dollar transformation with 11 floors added to the a five-story structure originally built more than a century ago. We kept the historic exterior intact, and several elements within our hotel have been incorporated into our hotel's unique design including the original iron staircase located in the lobby. All of the rooms in the hotel feature marble-topped wet bars with microwaves and refrigerators, sleeper sofa, free WiFi, two LCD televisions, and deluxe pillow-top mattresses.

Detailed Reviews
The Front desk people are not friendly at all, they are so unprofessional. the house keepers are helpful and friendly. The 2 ladies that prepare the breakfast are so very sweet and kind. The parking attendants are very friendly and accomodating.
The snack bar is a rip off and disgrace, $4.00 is terrible for a candy bar, or a 6 oz bag of chips.
The facility is in need of upgrade. There is a lack of safety equipment in the bathrooms. (exp.) hand bars for the tub, Shower grips in the tubs to prevent slipping in the tub and the toilet seats are very low, these are all so dangerous for seniors in particular.

Overall, my experience at this hotel was a mixture of positives and negatives. Here's my detailed review:
Firstly, one of the major downsides was the constant smell of marijuana smoke, especially at night when it became quite strong in the room. This could be a significant concern for those who are sensitive to such odors or prefer a smoke-free environment.
Furthermore, the hotel was situated in a rather sketchy area. Although this might not pose a problem for everyone, it is crucial to take into account your personal comfort and safety preferences while selecting accommodations.
On a positive note, I must say that the hotel staff was truly awesome. They were friendly, accommodating, and always ready to assist with any inquiries or requests. Their exceptional service definitely added value to my overall experience.
Moving on to the room itself, I was pleasantly surprised by how clean and spacious it was. The cleanliness was top-notch, and the spaciousness allowed for a comfortable stay. This was definitely a highlight of my time at the hotel.
However, it's worth mentioning that during my stay, only one elevator was functioning. This was a slight inconvenience, particularly during peak times. It would be beneficial if the hotel management could address this issue promptly to improve the overall guest experience.
To sum up, despite the drawbacks of the marijuana smell and the location, the exceptional service from the hotel staff and the cleanliness and spaciousness of the room were notable positives. While the issue with the elevator was a minor inconvenience, it did not significantly impact my overall satisfaction with the hotel.

The staff(front desk and valet) is wonderful. Check-in was fast and the desk staff were friendly and professional. The location is perfect for a show my husband attending at The Masquerade. It's about a block and a half walk. I didn't attend the show and my husband didn't like the idea of me going to the Subway about half a block away.
If you arrive on Peachtree Street, the entrance is easy to find. Pull in and the valet station is at the Hotel entrance. They ask if you will be needing your vehicle. If not, they will park it for the night. If you do, they will keep it near the entrance for you. The valet attendance and service was top notch.
If you plan on walking(unless you are going to Underground Atlanta or the Masquerade) stay several blocks over...closer to the Georgia Aquarium, CNN Building, World of Coke, etc.... The area around this Hotel is not for young families(unless all you plan on doing is sleeping and staying in the hotel).
Valet parking is $50. As this is the only hotel within walking distance of The Masquerade, we had no issue with the price. Paid parking is standard in most big cities and it saved is Uber fares. If we attend a show at the Masquerade, we will book this hotel again.
If you are a light sleeper, this is not the place for you. There was a radio or something playing all night long. We were on the 10th floor, but it sounded like it was directly outside our room. My noise app on my phone took care of this issue.
We typically don't check reviews for any hotel in the Marriot Bonvoy family. In our experience, they are in safe locations. This hotel changed our opinion on this. For this event, it worked for us. However, I will thoroughly check reviews on future Marriot Bonvoy hotels and not just assume they are in a safe location.

I had reserved two rooms for two nights several weeks prior to our trip, and was excited to get a great price for a hotel right in the heart of Atlanta. I was not disappointed, and neither were the other two people with me. From the moment we checked in, we were greeted warmly. Check-in was smooth, and all staff were helpful.
At the breakfast buffet the next morning, one of the staff members greeted us and asked if we needed anything. I mentioned that I did not have shampoo or a hairdryer. A few minutes later, I received shampoo right at our breakfast table, and was told to expect delivery of a hairdryer later, which did happen not long after my request.
The room itself was comfortable, spacious, and quiet. The drapes, when closed, make the room completely dark. We could also adjust the temperature, and the room was kept cool. In addition to our sleeping area and a bathroom, we had a separate lounge with a TV, a couch, a coffee table, and a sink and coffee maker.
Parking was the only challenge for us. Valet parking is the only option at this hotel, and it was $40 a night when we were there. We opted to park our car a few blocks from the hotel at an open lot, which was $5 overnight. The valets were understanding, and let us do our own thing.
Overall, I would definitely stay here again.

I stayed at this hotel for one night, the hotel wasn’t bad as far as the basics go, but I had a terrible experience with customer service. So I was locked out of my room for over half and hour, I was able to get into my room directly after I checked in, but I stepped out to get ice, and when I came back I couldn’t get back in. I called the first desk and they sent the housekeeper up after about 10 minutes, she came up but her key didn’t work either. She then went downstairs and got a whole new key, which didn’t work either, and then she said the batteries were dead. So then we both went down stairs ( I didn’t even have a jacket, and I had reservations for as well that I had to reschedule) the guy at the front desk was very nice about the situation and tried to do what he could. Maintenance is not on site, I had to wait until he came to come change the batteries on my door, all of my things were locked in that room and this was super frustrating. The representative at the desk was very apologetic about the situation and promised that they would refund me some of my payment, due to the inconvenience. The next day I checked out, there was another lady at the front desk, I explained what happened and asked about the refund and she said I would have to call Expedia and have them call the hotel in order to get the refund, which I did the next day. This hotel had the audacity to offer me a 5 dollar refund, I paid 250 for one night. I feel like that was an insult, they might as well not offered me anything at all. 5 dollars off of 250 is nothing not even the taxes.

Bad service and overall bad management.
We booked a stay on September 4th for one night. Checked in online on the 3rd to ensure we could get a digital key or check in faster. We arrived to the hotel at 11 pm and a digital key had not been sent yet. There was a very angry man in front of us that was being told by the front desk young lady that the hotel had oversold the rooms and could not provide a room as booked. After that uncomfortable encounter completed I asked for my hard keys and without even asking my name the young lady told me I had no room. Needless to say it was not a good situation and all she could tell me was to call the manager Ken Ballard the manager the next day since he was at the hotel that evening and was aware of the situation and that he left her with no options. I would think if Ken knew he had no rooms he would have called guest proactively or left options.
To make things worst I emailed Ken and Nikki the GM of hotel and did not get a reply until I followed up 4 days later with another email. Ken replied and told me that he did have rooms that night and was not sure why his front desk told us that info.
I would stay far far away from this hotel, I would not recommend it based on the poor service they provided and even worst service after I reached out to them.
Marriott has a policy for elite members that if the hotel can not provide you a room when you have a confirmed reservation they will provide you $100 and points. I am on a basic member with Marriott so Ken told me he would not provide any options other than to say sorry.
I hope this review helps you have a better experience.

To all that is giving positive reviews to this location.. where do y'all usually stay? I am from South Jamaica, Queens.. i.e. the hood. When I go on vacation, I do not want to stay in the hood. It is terrible in this location. It is around the corner from a recovery center so there are drug addicts, crackheads, sketchy looking and homeless people all around this property. You are forced to use their valet service which was $45 a night to keep your car safe. DO NOT park it in the garage around the corner. I am a young lady and was approached by 2 males, and had to "act tough" just so they wouldn't rob me. Can't even go to the Walgreens up the block without walking past A LOT of riff-raff on the streets. And the building is old with a lot under contruction. Stay midtown close to the Aquarium if you want to feel safe. It was noisy, my room was dirty and not like the pictures I've seen and I had someone bang on my door twice at around 1am.. Had to book another hotel for the rest of the week. Nightmare!

I travel frequently for business and my favorite hotels are Marriott properties (I’m Titanium Elite). Unfortunately this hotel is the worst Marriott I have ever stayed in. First, the clerks at the desk have no desire to treat you as a welcomed guest. I initially thought that the negative attitudes were as a result of too many guests arriving at the same time to check in for a major convention in town. I tried to be understanding, but these clerks remained negative and dismissive the entire weekend. The Underground area is horrible with all types of people literally living on the street surrounding the hotel. Valet parking was $45/night, but you can self-park in the same parking garage that the valet uses for about $30/night. The “suites” are out-dated with very visible signs of wear and tear, the TV didn’t work and there wasn’t even a landline telephone in the room. Too many problems to list here, but I will tell you that there are plenty of other hotels to stay in that are in the downtown area - just don’t choose this one!

This is one of the best hotels that my husband and I have ever stayed at while traveling. A spacious, immaculate room; in fact, for a very reasonable price, it was like two rooms - an outer room with a fridge, sink, coffee maker, couch, chair, coffee table and television, and a bedroom with a king sized bed, a very comfy chair with a desk, another television, and a big bathroom. Breakfast daily was free and well stocked, but out of all of this, what we liked most about the hotel was the staff - they are extremely friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. HIGHLY recommend this hotel!!

Here in Atlanta with my daughter for a club volleyball tournament so our hotel choice was made by someone else.
Our interactions with hotel staff were very positive and they made us feel welcome. The hotel decor is a bit tired but the room was spacious and beds comfortable. Overall the hotel is a solid 3-star standard.
The reason for the poor rating is all related to location. The hotel is in a really seedy part of town and to walk anywhere requires navigating large groups of homeless people who seem to gather around the hotel from mid morning onwards.
The hotel also has no food options so on our first night we ventured out to find a restaurant. On our journey we were accosted a dozen times by people asking for money or making suggestive comments to my daughter and her teammate. On our second night we ordered food delivered due to safety concerns about leaving the hotel.
If you do still decide to stay here and want to go out to eat, I recommend you walk north up Peachtree St. After 15 mins walking you will find some restaurants in a safer area.
The hotel is right across the street from the Five Points MARTA station so that is convenient for airport transportation.
This was my first (and probably last) visit to Atlanta. This is as depressing a city as I have visited in the US and clearly local government has some serious social problems to address.

Hello,
At this time, we are not offering any breakfast options at our location and has been suspended since the start of the pandemic.
Update:
As of December 2019, the property no longer has a shuttle.
We did not walk anywhere, the shuttle at the hotel was a good perk. Was not too sure about the area where the hotel is located, but as said previously, there were a lot of police around. If it is a male asking this question I would say it is probably safe, a female I would have concerns. I would not go out alone in this area as it seemed hard to get your bearings. The shuttle is so easy, and when you want to go back to the hotel, it takes them about 5 minutes to pick you up. If this is your first time, I would use the shuttle, so easy.
