The local traditional characteristics reflected in the design of this small, but prestigious hotel, located at the waters edge overlooking the old fishing harbour and flanked to one side by an ancient chapel, only complement this quaint and idyllic setting. Yet just a minute walk away are a number of shops, restaurants, bars and other tourist activities all along the promenade. An early riser can watch the colourful fishing boats unload their catch from the comfort of one’s room. The hotel has breathtaking views of St. Paul’s Islands where St. Paul was shipwrecked. All rooms have a bathroom en suite, balcony, air-conditioning, direct dialing facilities, satellite Television, mini bar, hair dryer and room safety deposits. The Gillieru Harbour Hotel has ample public areas to guarantee the excellent and personalized service synonymous with the Cremona family which has run it’s catering services for over four generations. Early booking is recommended.

Have to say the location is great. Our room overlooked the bay which was beautiful. Overall the hotel was OK. Food is excellent in the restaurant, however, off putting with staff discussing business in the same area where you dine. The hotel room was OK but come on guys, it needs modernising. After a long day you want to just flick on some TV and chill. You need to upgrade the choices to free view TV etc. The bathroom is an accident waiting to happen. Water every where and had to use our towels to mop it up. There is obviously an issue with the plumbing as the water is not running off as it should. The towels are only big enough to use on a child. No shelves in the bathroom to put toiletries. Had to use the wine glasses for our toothbrushes! The rest of our things on the floor. Check your appliances. We used the iron(had to ask reception) most hotels have them already available in rooms these days. The iron leaked water everywhere once turned on. The cafe is lovely and staff friendly. Plenty of seating inside and out. The breakfast is nice but the hotel seem very precious about serving the cooked items and not wanting guests to help themselves. Felt uncomfortable asking for two eggs! Nice and fresh but little choice. Overall pleasant stay but having stayed in many hotels the rooms are what let it down. Like going back in time.

After a dodgy start to our stay at the hotel we raised our concerns to the Hotel manager. From that moment on I've been overwhelmed at how much they've helped us settle in for our stay to celebrate my wife's birthday. Matthew and the team are a credit to the hotel and I couldn't thank them enough. Many Thanks Darren & Dawn

My Husband and I have just spent a week at this fantastic hotel. The staff are brilliant. They are so friendly and helpful - this is in all departments - Reception, The Restaurant, The Coffee Bar and the housekeepers. The hotel is clean and modern, whilst remaining in keeping with a hotel situated right on the harbour. Its location is great for walking to explore the area and shops and restaurant's

I am just back from the most fantastic holiday in Malta with my sister, made all the better by a lovely, warm, friendly stay at the Gillieru Harbour Hotel. I honestly can’t fault the wonderful staff - the ladies on the reception desk were so helpful, polite & greeted us every morning with a “good morning” & a smile! The girls at breakfast were equally as friendly & ensured we had everything we needed! Our room was small but bright - it was lovely & clean & the housekeepers did an amazing job every day! I must mention Tom in the restaurant - what a fantastic, knowledgeable, friendly man! He talked us through all the specialities on the menu - nothing was too much trouble! The whole dining room team were first class! The food was absolutely amazing - the chefs certainly know their stuff! And Zoran - he’s an absolute treasure! Made us feel so welcome & was so attentive, making sure we had everything we needed & always smiling! What a wonderful team you have there at the hotel. I will be recommending anyone I know who’s planning a trip to Malta to stay here! Thank you all so very much!

This hotel was an absolute pleasure to stay in. All staff from Mary-Rose on reception, Joyce in the coffee shop & many other staff could not have done enough. Mary-Rose is an absolute credit to the hotel, she goes out of her way to look after guests with ourselves included. The rooms are kept lovely and clean by housekeeping staff daily. Food is outstanding and so tasty with several options each day. Our room looking over the sea made it such a wonderful relaxing & peaceful retreat especially as we were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary. An absolute find it was just a shame we had to go home but we will definitely be back again in the future.

Reasonable 3 Star hotel. Rooms a little dated but clean and fresh. Wonderful views over St Paul’s Bay and the small harbour. Very nice restaurant and a very expectable breakfast. One of the best buffet breakfast I’ve had on holiday. Not a wide selection However, Quality rather then quantity. At times the public area, lounge and reception had a terrible sewage smell. Very unpleasant at times. The staff in the small cafe were excellent and very friendly. We only dined in the restaurant on evening. However, the staff were friendly, helpful and attentive. Unfortunately, the reception staff were not particularly welcoming or helpful. Also the breakfast staff really didn’t give the most friendly service. Overall an enjoyable and expectable stay.

Just got back from a fabulous holiday in Malta at the Gillieru Hotel. It's just a lovely place to stay. Spotlessly clean rooms, all the food was great and the staff just amazing. Mary Rose is one amazing lady and one of the nicest people I know. Joyce at the coffee shop makes the best coffee. Mathew the hotel manager is a great guy- funny, helpful just an all round nice person. Can't wait to go back as missing them all ready.

The hotel is very nice, big rooms and a beautiful pool Also the food is excellent. But... we had bad experiences with the staff. Only two of them were polite so that they answered with hello, when we met. The others were just incredibly impolite. I have never seen such thing in any of the over 60 countries I have been to. Even when we left, the receptionist didn't say goodbye as usually, she didn't. But I thought that for our departure, she could have said at least one hello or one goodbye in 7 days. This is too sad!

We really enjoyed our stay at the Gillieru. We had a sea view room and the view was amazing. The staff were all very pleasant, rooms cleaned every day and towels changed when needed. Lovely pool area. We stayed on a bed & breakfast basis and this would be my only criticism, the breakfast is not the best, not great quality and was cold, bland and the same every day although the pastries were nice. There are a couple of nice restaurants across from the hotel and a lovely Indian restaurant at the top of the street that faces the front of the hotel. We will definitely come back and stay at this hotel again in the future.
