The staff is what makes this hotel so special. We always enjoy the wine hour. We meet the most interesting people at wine hour. The entire staff from check-in to housekeeping are extremely helpful. I was headed to room with full hands and a maintenance worker offered to open the door for me. The restaurant is delicious. The beds/linens are amazing. I could stay here and never leave. We came for our son's graduation from Harvard. The staff was very congratulatory. Love Kimpton!!

Hotel's Favourite
We arrived in Boston on a Sunday around 12:30pm after a 3 hour drive...My wife called the hotel and asked if we could get an early check-in...Woody told her yes, and upon arrival he couldn't have been any nicer...My wife asked if there was any way we could get a room with a view as it's been a while since we were able to escape from the kids for a few days and Woody put us on the top floor with a view of the canal !!! Since the nearest subway stop was approx 10 mins away we walked to and from Faneuil Hall / Boston Common each day (about 25 mins each way) along side the Charles River...Wonderfully scenic and peaceful walk. It was also nice having the Cambridgeside mall connected to the hotel. The self parking fee of $30 kinds of sucks, but when you go to a major city that's actually not too high compared to others, and since I'm not a fan of waiting / tipping for my vehicle every time I want to leave the hotel it was a great option to have...The parking was a bit confusing when we first arrived, but after the first day it was easy to figure out after familiarizing ourselves with the layout. My wife pointed out, and I have to agree, that this was the cleanest hotel room we could recall staying in. If we went back to the area we'd certainly stay here again.

The Kimpton Marlowe Hotel is one of the best hotels in the country.....and, this statement is coming from a retired hotel exec, who knows quality hotel service. The first word is friendliness; from the doorman to the front desk, from the housekeeper to the service help in the restaurant.......all extremely friendly & helpful. In addition, the hotel was immaculate & everything worked, which I can not say about most hotels. The guest room was large & the shower jet perfect. We have stayed at this hotel for many years but it has never been better. The restaurant is a MUST for exceptional quality & service. If you need a hotel in Boston or Cambridge, this is the only hotel to stay with. It is only extremely convenient to Boston & all its important sights.

This hotel is so much more than a clean, beautiful place to stay with an incredible breakfast, and a team that is extremely professional. These people actually care. If I ever need anything, the answer is always yes if I need a late check out, they almost always accommodate me unless there’s some major reason why they can’t. I want to bring attention to the wonderful people who work concierge at the desk. I have never met such an incredible and welcoming staff, and I work in the hotel industry, I have for years. I would like to name Shane, who was incredibly helpful, and went above, and beyond when I was having, a tough time with my partner. He was kind, consoling and understanding. This place has been my favorite hotel since our very first day a few years ago. This place feels like my home away from home. Thank you for a repeated incredible experience.

A spur of the moment new years eve trip to the area. cordiality in abundance from valet to front desk to house keeping to restaurant/bar.The lobby was populated with inexperienced travelers at check in and the staff smoothly moved things along.Another perfect stay.

We tried booking directly with the Marlowe using Google search. We were offered a great deal but charged an astronomical amount after we put in our credit card information. We were not given the opportunity to decline the greater charge. When we called the hotel to cancel we were told that the reservation was made through a third party. We were given the telephone number for the third party who refused to cancel the reservation and refund the credit card charge. The Marlowe is complicit in the scam because they accepted the reservation from the third party. Which legitimizes the third party in the eyes of the credit card company and decreases our chances of winning a dispute with the third party.

This is not accurate. Marlowe makes rooms available to 3rd party sites who then in turn sell those rooms but the customer is bound by the terms and conditions of that site, which is out of the Marlowe's control. Booking directly with the hotel would allow for the most flexible terms, and there is a Best Rate Guarantee offering to ensure guests always get the best pricing available. Happy to discuss further if you'd like. Joe Capalbo, General Manager, joe.capalbo@kimptonhotels.com

After reading all the great reviews, we decided to come here. Well, don’t think we will be back. The manager we spoke with prior to our arrival, Tara (?), was very nice. She confirmed that the type of room we booked, Essential, allows us to choose whatever the room type (any room type below suite-level rooms) is available at the time of check-in. Then check-in was really the sh__ show. Or even a little before. We drove up and when I got out of my car to check in, I asked the valet if it’s ok to park the car for a few minutes in the driveway while I checked in. He never said hello, and almost angrily said well I’m not liable for any damage that may occur! Is this how you talk to people, let alone a guest?! At all the hotels I’ve ever driven up to I’ve never encountered any doorman or attendant who gave me a hard time about leaving my car near them while I checked in. At front desk -- I had to beg for the room type I wanted. Why?! The Website and the hotel manager stated clearly that as long as the desired room type was available, it’d be yours. The front desk clerk had the nerve to tell me that he was giving me the room I wanted as a one-time courtesy. Then he gave us keys to go to our room. And guess what folks? When we opened the door someone was in the room! Thank god they had bolted the door. I heard the TV on in the room. Needless to say we had to go back down to get another room. This was 9:30 at night. The same front desk clerk apologized and explained that it was a manger or an employee changing sheets or something in that first room. At 9:30 pm? Even so why was it not flagged in the system? We got another room of the room type we wanted. The fact that at least 2 rooms of the room type we asked for were available proved that the clerk should’ve gladly granted our request instead of wasting my time and making feel bad at 9–9:30 at night after a long drive. Many hotels, when faced with a glut of unsold rooms for the night, gladly upgraded guests for free to earn goodwill and continued loyalty, whereas this hotel made me feel guilty for asking for what I paid and what I deserved. And one reviewer said the wifi stinks. Yes it does! Not working and not sure how this hotel can justify an amenity fee! Finally, there’s no desk lamp or overhead lighting at all! Very dark in the room — we couldn’t see things while unpacking. Also weird is how there’s only 1 desk chair to sit in, not another slouchy sofa or armchair or whatever. Instead a huge cabinet with an empty minibar stands. Kimpton Marlowe— to undiscerning guests you may seem like a good hotel, but to those like me who have traveled extensively and stayed with exclusive properties around the world, you need to train your staff about what gracious service is. And upgrade your WiFi while you’re at it.

How much do we enjoy this hotel you ask? So much that we named our dog Marlowe! When visiting the Boston area, this is our hotel of choice. Not only are they super dog friendly, the hotel is clean, modern, super comfortable and has a great restaurant attached. Oh, and the wine hour is a bonus! We brought Marlowe for his first visit and he wasn’t behaving as we had wished. Instead of canceling our dinner reservations, the lovely gentleman at the desk were kind enough to dog sit for us! My understanding is that depending on who is at the desk, they sometimes are willing to do so for a small hourly fee! It seriously doesn’t get better!

We have stayed at the Kimpton Marlowe Hotel several times, and each time we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Being able to have our furry family member is important to us. The real reason I make this review is because of the doorman. Teddy the doorman is a shining star and truly an asset to the Kimpton Marlowe hotel. He has without falter greeted us with respect, and made us feel like family. Easily accessible to talk to, Teddy is perpetually assists us with the precarious dynamic of parking. We are forever grateful to him. Thanks Teddy.

The staff here were the best. Shout out to the door man Teddy. He went above and beyond. We came from Colorado for our Son’s wedding. My Dad traveled from Arizona by car. Teddy found a close parking spot for my dad and his partner. He noticed my dad’s tire was low on air and brought his portable air inflator to air my dad’s tire. He was always friendly and helpful while opening the door despite the rain, wind and cold. All of the staff was amazing. The beds and pillows were so comfortable. This hotel has everything you could ever need . They had fresh brewed coffee in the lobby in the morning, water with lemon during the day and n the evening they had white and red wine. It’s also conveniently connected to a mall that you can get to through the parking structure. I needed a greeting card and was able to go to CVS in the mall. We needed a steamer for our clothes for the wedding and they brought it away. We highly recommend Kimpton Marlowe.
